I'm not going to get the word 'Janky' out of my head now lol. Hopefully some time off for Xmas/New Year will help recovery! It's not the end, just a slight delay! Looking forward to the next video 'I'm recovered"

Firstly, sorry to learn about your injury. Hopefully your recovery goes smoothly.
I’ve really enjoyed your vlogs and I respect the time and energy you’ve clearly invested in them. It’s nice to watch good quality videos. Really nice work!
Personally, I’m in a same spot as you, as I’m training to complete my first marathon and trying also to workout regurally at the gym. Not to mention balancing training, work and family life.
How do you program your running? Do you have some kind of weekly training split (long run, interval, recovery run)?
    Best regards,
    Jukka

Jukka thanks, I really appreciate you saying that. I aim to make the videos look as good as I’d like to watch so it’s nice to hear people think it’s working.
Oh nice! How long have you been preparing for a marathon for?
Yeah my run programme was based around a “hybrid” training programme that basically means that your gym and run sessions start with high intensity (so faster/heavier/shorter) towards the beginning of the week and then slides along the scale towards higher volume and lower intensity later in the week (longer, slower, higher reps etc). That’s the basic principle and my aim was to increase overall weekly volume across monthly phases e.g. month 1 was going to look like 1km intervals, 20-30min fast tempo, 45min medium pace, and 1 long slow run going up by 2km each week.
Month 2 was pushed up in terms of distance for all of those runs so 1500m intervals, 30-40min fast, 45-60m medium, long slow etc.
But then injury struck so that was the plan and likely needs rejigging once I’m back to it I think.

@@DavidCLancaster I’m about 8 months deep into more systematic running practice. I’ve ran most of my adult life, but have treated it always as a complimentary exercise for bjj or gym or whatever rather than actually trying to be a better runner.

Jukka yeah I get what you mean. I have very much been the same for such a long time.
And BJJ is my jam! Haven’t been able to train since March regrettably so looking forward to some normality to be able to get back on the mats!
