@@Fxyoprobably3it's both true and not. There are a lot of animes that are almost identical or have similar themes, especially things like reincarnation into another world. There's tons of those. The same basic plot with this different story person is killed then reincarnated in another world. Jay, just on a god is like four of them that I know of to the top of my head
Part of the reason anime is so good is because it's in the hands of one person with a vision. You hardly ever see many original animes these days outside of movies because they're hardly ever well received. Almost every popular anime is a manga adaptation, and mangas are written by one person (yes i'm aware of editors but it's still and extremely small close knit team of people). A manga is usually original, and because most are long form rather than a single one shot, that means they can take as much time as they need instead of having to compact a story into movie length and worry about sequels and all that. Because these stories are usually the vision and dream of one person, they're usually more inclined to stick to their own vision instead of being influenced by fear of things like cancel-culture or trying to appeal to every possible audience at once. Since being a mangaka also isn't the most profitable job ever, you can really tell these people are just in this career because it's a passion, not because they care about maxing out the profits like Hollywood execs do. This is the reason why Hollywood is failing. We need to normalize cutting out the opinions/influence of execs and focus more on supporting smaller indie studios where directors and writers are allowed to freely express their visions without being micromanaged by someone in a higher up position.
This is so true. Its like the manga is the testing ground before it gets to made into anime. Where as in Hollyweird, script writers take their "script" and play the politics game in order to get their movie made without ever testing it out in the public. Thats how you get all these weird original films that are more or a checking the box exercise for every ESG/DEI metric. Its been a long time coming for the artist in Japan to get their due respect globally.
Exactly. Though you forgot one last thing - when manga is adapted into anime writers and animators are usually trying to follow the source material as close as possible. There are few exceptions but even in those cases the reason is usually the lack of material (so they made filler episodes for mangaka to have time to write more), or something similar. They never try to change the story just for the sake of inserting their own vision. Heck, in a few cases when things were changed, they often turned out worse.
Game of Thrones Attack on Titans American TV show and anime with politics. Even Avatar the last Airbender got politics, it's just the into-yo-face dog poop writing of politics in shows that sickening. Remember The Marvels women empowerment stuff,...😢
yea in ALTA, it made sense with the characters, the fire nation, earth kingdom etc. it fit and stayed within the show without needing to pull modern politics.
I don’t think It’s just Hollywood, many entertainment industries are suffering the same fate, lack of creative writing, relatable and well depth characters, and etc, a good example is my country, Indonesia. There has been almost nothing good to watch in my country, it is either absurd horror stories or cringy romances.
Anime especially. There's nothing more derivative than isekais (maybe the Korean equivalent). Too many battle shounens, cheesy romance, etc. On the other hand, you see many great films produced here. Horror is doing extremely well right now. Amd these really good movies are just too underground that people don't watch them.
Unfortunately, the opinions of those of us descended from Northern Europeans doesn’t matter because our entire existence is a sin or some such nonsense. Doubly so if we’re men. Seriously, I’ve met people that flew the Confederate flag who were less r@cist than these hypocrites.
Why is it such a hard concept to grasp that story is the baseline necessary thing and the medium through which it’s told is just aesthetics. An apple that’s drawn or photographed is still an apple. But if it’s a rotten apple, there’s nothing the artist can do to salvage it
@@LJ-hk4tvIn English? Definitely. In Japanese? The voice acting industry is a lot bigger, and more cut-throat & competitive there. Some voices may be similar, but overall you won't hear the same voices as often compared to the English dub.
Japan knows how to tell a story that many can relate to and really gets the viewer emotionsl. Hollywood wants to rehash the same garbage. Look at MHA they took the superhero franchise and gave it a fresh twist even the quirks are unique and interesting drawbacks to them. Superheros have been on decline since Endgame minus no way home and dead pool 3. The boys and invincible succeeded because fresh twist
Superheroes have been on the decline then why are you talking about superheroes? And, I dont see how anime is doing that genre better when you yourself listed The Boys and Invincible as examples.
@ben99ny69 they are on the decline with franchises like Hellboy which failed, DC which failed several times over joker being a recent example, Marvel is been missing as of late. What I'm saying is it's an example of Hollywood dragging out ideas and making it fail by not being innovative. Invincible and The Boys have been the only successes because the innovated unlike most of Hollywood. Japan have been massively successful with this example of a concept of superheroes because they aren't putting out the same thing they are doing it right by not just rehashing. My hero and one punch man are two examples of this. Another example Hollywood just using the multiverse to try and fit in because everyone's doing it notice how most of thats been trash rehashing the same garbage. Boruto just introduced it in the manga and everyone reading has been saying the way they are handling that concept is a breath of fresh air. Obviously there are going to be exceptions like boys and invincible but you can't honestly tell me your happy with the lack of innovation and rehashing garbage most of Hollywood is doing in comparison to the stories japan are creating. I use superheroes as a basic example because the last 10 years that's been the face of Hollywood.
@@killerwolff3048 If they are on the decline then how did Deadpool 3 make over a billion dollars? How did Across the Spiderman get nominated for best animated feature? Why are they still going on with the upcoming slate of DC movies headed by James gunn.
@ben99ny69 because those are 3 movies that innovated, why did Ant man 3 fail, Gotg 3, the flash, black adam, Hawkeye as a series, black widow, doctor strange, eternal is straight up canceled from going further, She hulk canceled. The quality has gone horribly down with most of it and you can't say it hasn't. The box office performance is reflecting this and so is the reception.
Couldn't agree more. In the Old days, Hollywood gave us some banger live action movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, John Wick, F&F, MI, Avengers etc and banger animated films like Cars, Frozen, How to train your Dragon, Toy Story, Ratatouille etc but they've seemed to fallen off pretty hard after pandemic and make occasional masterpieces and a bunch of remakes. Anime on the other hand has its own pros and cons as you've in the video. Still this video was well scripted and well delivered 👏
You should warch more movies that aren't big studio releases. It's on you for your choice of viewing experience. I've been getting into horror and it's been on fire lately. Horror has always been big and yet something like Terrfier is still breaking new ground. We've got Smile 2 and nosferatu coming. Animated movies have gotten better. DreamWorks is really fixing themselves with Puss in Boots and the wild robot. We've got flow coming out, heard great things. Transformer one is looking like the best Transformers movie (which isn't saying much), worth checking out. Inside out 2 because the highest grossijg movie this year.
Even those bangers don't hold a candle to some anime shows out there. I think anime has, always, universally, been underestimated by the people that never tried it. Anime, VNs, manga, LNs, and Japanese games are really good at creating deep, compelling stories that stick with you. I can't even think of 10 movies I've seen in the past 15 years that hit me to the same degree as some anime shows, and I go to the movies multiple times a month for the experience.
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodCityzen yea I get it, even I watch a ton load of anime and gotta agree that anime does have great stories and that's the reason for their success. Not everybody can relate with every movie or every anime. Anime just has that creative touch and the dedication of the author while movies in the Hollywood lack it these days tho we have exceptions.
Heres my experience. I used to watch tons of shows, whatever was on Netflix. However, when 2020 hit I began watching Anime. Never looked back. Jump forward to a few days ago, I see that Umbrella Academy had released its 4th season. I decided to watch it and was blown away... at how bad they RUINED this series. Season 3 had Alissons character progression from season 2 ABSOLUTELY destroyed, had Vanya's character progression destroyed and given a quick bs story about how she decided to transition (if they really cared, they could've come up with a more coherent plotline to go along with Elliots transition), and had Allison r**e Luther and NO ONE questioned the morality behind it. Season 4 was an even worse dumpster fire, which everyone knows. Hollywood is inconsistent. Story writers change, and so do their interpretations of a story, politics get involved, actors ruin their reputation, shows try to be "inclusive" when all they're really doing is being exclusive. Storywriters aren't given creative freedom, when they are their stories get watered down into something more socially acceptable. I've found that with Hollywood, there's never really a "moral of the story" the authors are trying to portray, because there is no author. Not only does Anime adapt Manga, but it does so extremely faithfully in most cases. Manga also "screens" the good stories before they're adapted into an Anime. Mangakas also don't pander to the crowd, they just write whatever they've envisioned. Do you really think a story like Attack on Titan would exist in Hollywood? No. Not unless it was another documentary about WW2. and I'm just going to go out on a whim of conspiracy but nowadays Hollywood just straight feels like propaganda, whether it be for governments or companies or whoever bid the highest to have their product featured/be included in the movie.
I heard that when Isayama offered his work to Weekly Shounen Jump, the editor told him to modify a few parts of it, but Isayama refused and went to Weekly Shounen Magazine instead. Good on Isayama for deciding to write the story HE wanted. And it’s funny, considering that AoT has themes about freedom too.
Hollywood doesn't know when to end things. If they make something good surely they will make sequels that are bad. Pick any franchise you'll see the same pattern MCU, Star wars, terminator, jurassic park, etc
Half of what you said about manga is wrong. Mangakas do indeed pander to what the audience want… through the editors’ interference. Those in shounen jump tend to do something relatable and popular at the moment. There’s a lot of JJK clone, let’s not even talk about the isekai genre and how it seems half of shows in a new season is an isekai copy pasted story, characters and premise. There’s no ounce of creativity put into those ones. Manga also doesn’t screen any good story. Those who screen story are those interested in the performance and how much merch they can sell with it. They create a committee and oversee the production of the adaptation, and even change things in it if they find something that could harm its sales. They even cut down important scenes for runtime or fan service just to sell more merch. If the mangaka and or author are overbearing they might cancel it or just not make another season. If they really ‘screen’ good ones, we wouldn’t have something like ‘100 girlfriends I really really really like’, they made it for weebs to buy some Merch. It’s kinda ironic how attack on titan is much more popular and sells a lot better WITHOUT FANSERVICE OR PANDERING.
We are experiencing a decline of Hollywood and a rise of Japanese Anime. As a result people have an exaggerated view of the rise of anime versus the decline of Hollywood. Saying that the way Hollywood and Japan creates entertainment is starkly different. Japan focus on meeting the demands of its customers using a system which runs the story arc through many stages, only allowing it to move to the next stage when it succeeds with the audience. Thus a story will start as an e-novel, move to a light novel and then move to anime, manga or even live action. At each step the story arc remains, with the only changes occurring based on the change in the medium. The result is almost any anime will always have a large audience when it comes out. Hollywood uses a gate keeping system, a Hollywood master of the universe decides what the audience will get, then the people who create the movie, the writers and directors almost never copies the original story and has no interested in feedback from the audience. They create what they want to create. The result is unless the master of the universe from Hollywood pick is correct, a movie will either flop or succeed. When the master of the universe in Hollywood and the writers and directors possessed talent, Hollywood got more hits than failures. That is not the case now, with the result being Hollywood is declining.
I thought the gatekeeping system was developed to defend Disney, which has been mass-producing garbage aimed at the "woke" audience. Movies, anime, documentaries, TV dramas, and all other forms of visual media should adjust their direction based on feedback from the majority of their audience. Visual works aren’t created with massive budgets just for the creators’ self-satisfaction.
@@Greenforrest7342 There is no doubt the Hollywood gatekeeping ramped up massively in the last 10years, so you are correct. However Hollywood has always had the issue of the writer’s disliking writing for an existing story and preferred to display their own brilliance and creativity to create their own story. I find this annoying as if writers want to do something original, then do it for an original piece of entertainment.
@@peterfmodel Thank you. Since I am Japanese, I was not aware of the deep-rooted issues in Hollywood. Hollywood should be more selective in hiring writers. I wonder if it is difficult for writers born and raised in English-speaking countries to create original entertainment works due to intense competition and limited opportunities.
@@Greenforrest7342 Your comment is correct, but I think the main issue in Hollywood is Hollywood believes they know what their customers want and avoid and ignore any feedback from their customers, which is not a good strategy. While some anime/manga created by well-known people with a proven track record exists and some don’t end up being very successful, most manga/anime entertainment is carefully designed to keep their customers happy. In Japan the funnel has a large opening and a small exit, while in Hollywood the funnel is actually a pipe. It’s a very different model. Hollywood has also had a recent issue of hiring writers based on qualities which have nothing to do with merit, which means a lot of new writers are not very good. Hollywood, or western entertainment, is self-correcting right now, but I am uncertain how long it will take for Hollywood to create an epic like Star Wars, Star Trek or the MCU again. ホーリーウッドが回復するのを待つ間、私はアニメを見続けます。
Truly is back again 🔥 I do believe Hollywood doesn’t understand the anime industry at all. It’s all about money. They should actually listen to the fanbase like the live action One Piece
I bet if they looked at why that worked, all they would take away is that "oh it worked because it is not a cartoon so let us make more live actions" 🙄.
There’s some stories that are better suited animated just because long prolonged stories like cinematic universe franchises take forever to complete and often declined in quality. Also tv series like game of thrones ended badly because they were rushed.
I’m surprised not a lot of people were talking about that article when it came out, so I’m glad to see someone covering it. Also, one reason why I believe Hollywood executives are baffled by anime’s success is because animation in general has never been taken super seriously in the west. Animation has always been seen there as something mostly for kids and family, and when we do get “adult” animation it’s mostly dumb sitcoms like Family Guy (we had other stuff like the Spawn show and Heavy Metal 2000, but those are rare and few). So with anime’s sudden success and the fact that it appeals to so many adults, the out of touch boomers at Hollywood don’t know how to react to that because it’s breaking the status quo of what animation is capable of and who it can appeal for in the west.
This is also probably the reason why K dramas are doing so well too. They have an ending. Unlike how Hollywood and Disney seeks only profits by making excessive sequels.
Imagine feeling the need to add more political messaging to a film about overcoming prejudice, understanding that people don’t need to fit into established gender roles to be valued by society, and that society is made stronger by living side by side with those who are different from us.
I just like to appreciate good media, its always about politics nowadays for some reason, on both sides I mean, people who complain about movies because it doesnt fit their political view and also the creators making bad content for whatever reason they have. Nowadays is always about left and right when we could be working together for a better world to live in
To be honest there is also hundred of thousands of Anime title that is shit out there, most of them are just created by Japanese studio for the sake of training their interns with degenerate garbage plot. but you don't see it trying to gaslight audiences for flopping, the title just got slowly forgotten and never to be seen again. that's just how the real nature 'Free market' doing it's job. this is why you knew if a show is a Politically motivated funded propaganda when it make so much noise even if it already Flop. and most of these are Hollywood movies.
This is why i stop paying to go to the theaters after i saw a well-done film Gojira Minus One using just approximately $10M budget. I now only go to the free theater after new releases 3 weeks later. I only pay to see recent anime films like Look Back and Slam Dunk Interhigh Tournament film. I'm now look forward to see Overlord film.
Exactly, animes does an infinitely better job at portraying diverse characters compared to Hollywood, Black Lagoon for example, has characters from all over the world, there's black people, Colombians, Chinese, Russians, Taiwanese and many more or AOT with the different races of people based on real life ethnicities, Cyberpunk Edgerunners portrayed California so well with the diverse characters, I also find it funny that the industry that over sexualises women STILL does a better job at well written female characters like Lena from 86, Hizuru from Summertime Rendering, the whole cast from Madoka Magica, Revy from Black Lagoon, Ishtar from the Fate series, Robin from One Piece, Ryuko from Kill La Kill and many more. Not to mention they've written gay characters better too like Ymir from AOT, Sailor Uranus and Neptune from Sailor Moon, Yuuri and Victor from Yuri on Ice, Suletta and Miorine in Gundam, I mean they have a whole genre dedicated for gay and lesbian stories. Hollywood is just too damn focused on politics and money, animes are focused on story writing and characters.
Me personally I love anime but it is slowly becoming more like Hollywood i have watched every single good anime recommendations i can find i have watched garbage to Hollywood have made excellent movies if they could leave the politics i will watch them again so far anime have a better storys than Hollywood
Anime takes risks and because of this they make some original stories. Because of these risks some anime is garbage and it has its own carbon copy issues. However, Hollywood would never even think of making a show where the main character is an intelligent vending machine. And like it or hate it. Nobody can deny that it is original.
0:20 nah fam it’s worse they don’t even respect animation & my boy mother’s basement has a great vid “why the Oscar’s don’t get animation” that goes over that exact topic
I swear Hollywood would just make some Crappy Marvel or star wars Movie/series like the Marvels for example and go like "oh it's Marvel everybody loves it, so lets just make 50 more movies after Endgame" and then it gets horrible feedback because Old Fans just want the series to End! However With Anime, I assume Hollywood just think it's 'silly cartoons' and brush it off when it's actually the BEST SOURCE OF MEDIA EVER! also Anime most the time can pull of great endings like Attack on Titan or maybe even Hunter X Hunter, but Hollywood want to make 50 Seasons more of everything💀
Hollywood forgot the entire reasons movies exist and that’s to escape. Life is boring and painful full of struggle for a few moments of happiness so when you have something like movies you can sit down and escape into a Beautiful world like how to train your dragon But now they only make movies for their own opinions and beliefs and let me give you a quick reality check: no one cares or wants your opinions they want to see a movie which is entertaining and fun to watch but these people don’t understand that and basically make a soulless cash grab or really bad propaganda of their own beliefs. And now their bringing their opinions into a movie it’s like using bringing a gun to a cook out both don’t fit or can be used in any way escapism is why movies where made to get away from reality on how depressing it is but now their bringing reality into movies and that’s why the movies flop they refuse to listen to the true nature of movies. This is why I’m downloading many movies and shows from many 3rd party websites like how to train your dragon and berserk because sooner or later they’ll be banned because their “offensive for modern audiences” and I encourage everyone who reads this comment to do the same because the next generation will have nothing but soulless slop and propaganda as entertainment if we don’t preserve true art.
As a Japanese person, what I find intriguing is the lack of self-correcting mechanisms in Hollywood’s trends, the overly politically correct censorship prevalent in the United States’ education system, and the sports industry’s disregard for female athletes. All area are same situation.
Good examples of politics in film: Attack on Titan Kino's Journey Every Gundam Series Bad examples: Disney films past 2010 There is a way to inject preaching into film without shoving it in people's faces. Its like these script writers don't watch their own films.
You can put political messaging/themes into any form of entertainment, the difference is if its overt or covert. Overt is literally using the characters as soundboards for that message and agenda, literally using the characters as the delivery system for said messages through dialogue. This is what makes something more agenda driven or a form of propaganda. Covert messaging instead is more subtle using the show don't tell method really of writing, the message is received via the actions of the characters and the movement of the plot itself, instead of using the characters as the sounding board. V for Vendetta is a prime example of this, despite it trying to be a left wing film, the overall theme and messaging of it is about losing freedoms through Government control and manipulation and trying to win those freedoms back. No matter what side of the political spectrum you fall on, it's a universal theme that resonates. There are of course other ways to show an agenda/propaganda as was brought up with How to Train Your Dragon., I have for the most part giving up on Western Entertainment and exclusively watch Anime now for my source of entertainment due the propaganda and agenda driven nature of the industry that cares more about other things than story and character development. Also a note about Dune 2, they basically ruined Chani's character in order to make her a strong feminist characters instead of following the books which ruins any chance of Children of Dune being produced or in some cases have to do some really stupid shit to get Chani to return.
I just saw Dandadan. The episode 4 was a rollercoaster emotional moment even the series was and STILL hillarious. I mean, how tf can you relating some "rare and strange" topics like male genital, aliens, ghosts, high school life, drama, supernatural, comedy became well-written like that? Note: When y'all watch Dandadan, please pay more attention when the characters are going fight to face. When they'll fight yokai, there's must be emotional moment why those ghost became evil spirit. When they'll fight aliens, it will action-packed like Avengers. NB: Sorry for my bad english. English is my third language 😅
The fact that Hollywood writers have more freedom and time to make their stories I still don't understand how they're overshadowed by an industry that gives little to no time to its creators
Hollywood has still way more success than other entertainment industries, a lot of people are discovering Anime now that's why it's getting now. Even though right now Anime are not coming that much good either. The Newbies won't notice this though. But mostly there was a time all of the Anime coming out were mind blowing like How Hollywood movies did too but now it has decrease by a lot. The thing is if we switch over to other media that would obviously feel way better as new experience for a period of time to time, simple as that. A lot of people didn't watched Anime but it has increase by a little. the main reason Hollywood is in This state because they are focusing way more about service and nostalgia just how Martin Scorsese warned about marvel, the audience want something big franchise and anime has that while the Hollywood have hit and miss and their singular good movies like Furiosa and The Fall Guy are greeting box office bomb while the ones without plot or just nostalgia and all like Beetlejuice 2, spiderman now way home and deadpool ans wolverine are earning billions. Obviously the studios would think audience want fan service and nostalgia instead Of A plot. Since the movoes with plot are getting flopped while the ones with fanservice and dominating and earning billions. I think people forgot why they hate fast and furious movies was because comparatively how Hollywood movies did plot their ones were considered decent and repetitive like marvel movies even though now fast and furious do have way better plot than movies than spiderman now way home or deadpool and wolverine just says a lot about audience mindsets. As for the game of thrones and attack on titan coma prison both are criticised for the endings. The anime already had source material which given time to Change a little things while with game of thrones I feel like george rr martin probably had the same idea but with different take which he didn't completely thought out. In a sense it Could have been better, as much as I hate it, it's a fact that without source material and just a piece of ending that everyone will hate, it can be done with the overall how one write. I feel like D&D were only good adapting but not on their own. They tried with confidence and ended up falling up shamed. They should have just left it to other by accepting that fact and train In meanwhile. I feel like Attack On Titan Anime didn't rushed and took breaks and left it to other studio for the exact reason.
Ya idk why people hype up anime so much, there's definitely some amazing shows but like 90% of anime is just not good and overall quality seems to be getting worse
The main reason why I enjoy anime more than majority of LA shows, or movies is because of how superior (not always, I'm aware) animes are in terms of narration, music, plots, characters, depth etc. For example Eighty-six, Violet Evergarden, Baccano, Terror in Resonance, Cowboy Behop, Patema Inverted, Durarara, Stein:gate, Black Lagoon, Re:creators. They all unique in their own ways, some relating on fictional word. While some on our real world or their problems; depression, breakup, loneliness, emptiness, forgiving, the fear of being forgotten, lack of emotions or understanding them etc. Some touch the deeper meaning; Faith, The boundries of imagination and reality, meaning of life, one's mind etc. They tell great, original tales, something that is missing in the vast majority of LA shows or movies that are being made nowadays, sure there are movies that share this yet they lack the depth of it. (I've seen a lot of movies and shows, but they are not that interesting in terms of story telling as Anime. Exceptions could be Mentalist, LOTR, Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Grimm and list could go for a bit.)
Hollywood: Hey let's may another Batman, Superman, Spiderman remake!!! It's only been done like 100000 times, right? Fans: (tuning them out and turning to anime)
I can't really offer a good take, but I think it has to do with two main factors: Passion and Creative Freedom. Usually bad shows tend to have a team that lacks the passion to make the project amazing, or lack the creative freedom to spread their desired message, or create their ideal scenes. While anime tends to have a lot more passion and creative freedom (shonen jump is a hard maybe in creative freedom though, since KNY and JJK had their entire concepts changed, but there's a lot more manga publishers that offer more creative freedom.) Audiences like watching shows where thought was put into it, not just some meaningless slop that's there for a representation bonus. The audience isn't stupid, and the directors need to figure that out.
I've heard that even anime is failing right now, because of low budget, worker abuse, and strict deadlines. For example, there are some good adaptations, but also there are many bad adaptations, and then there are adaptations that are meh, or mid...
For better or worse, anime is relatively cheap to produce compared to a live action tv show (and I say worse cause a lot of that comes from not adequately compensating animators) which means anime is more likely to take risk on random ideas or mildly successful manga. Tv shows made here try to have as broad appeal as possible to try and make their money back, but end up usually just mediocre to boring. Anime has some truly terrible shows, but it’s usually an interesting bad. And in that rare instance they hit gold, you get something truly astounding. A concept unique that no Hollywood studio would green light, but anime is willing to give a shot. I also think anime is marketed better, Hollywood still uses a lot of traditional marketing, like tv and interviews on talk shows, but no one really watches either of those two so much anymore. Anime, atleast here in the west, was practically made for modern meme culture and modern social media, with short clips or images that can go viral easily, not to mention large word of mouth community that will hype up a show. Movies do have a large word of mouth community as well, but these days that discourse has become a lot more combative.
You're one of the only people i've seen that realizes the "cost disparity" when it comes to creating content in either medium. Hollywood is more than happy to dump 70, 80, 100mil on something (even more depending on how much nepotism points the brainchild of a show/movie would have), whereas most 11-13 episode seasonal anime usually don't cost more than 4-5mil USD to produce, thus the barrier to profitability for them is faaaar lower and easier to achieve
It should be highlighted that Japan has a much more competitive entertainment industry where the majority of authors and artist face bitter disappointment because they couldn't quite reach past the screening process, and even if they did, there is a lot of pressure on their shoulders to keep producing quality art. Sure, there are the more "generic" stories out there, but even with those, it is clear which audience they are attempting to speak to. Contrast that to Hollywood where often times people fail upward, get favorable treatment due to irrelevant reason or just through nepotism, and where the only audience that they care about is of the "modern" kind. Self-righteousness, hubris and elitism. It shouldn't take a genius to understand the current state of affairs (I mean, Demon Slayer apparently out-sold the entire American comic industry so....).
You had me with your points, but damn the disrespect when you used 60fps garbage. I want to believe that you are doing this because of your love for the medium of animation but man it feels hypocritical when the people tackle this subject without any care. 60 fps versions of scenes are an insult to the care that animators put into their animation. I genuinely like this video, and I mean no hate. It is just that I feel genuinely sad that the moments that I cherish are being used as cash grabs with those 60fps remasters.
Dayneris is more similar to Eren than to Historia. Valyrian - Elian. Dragons - Attacking Titan. Lost her parents - Lost his parents. Wanted to bring justice - Wanted to bring justice. Both killed by beloved ones. Both went mad. So basically Eren is AoT Dayneris, but with a Titan form instead of dragons.
Finally, somebody said it. Something that I heard, the American entertainment industry, has a lot of bots write there movies. Anime is written by living breathing humans. And anything the West makes that is by living breathing. Humans is a remake, copy, or something that’s been done to death.
Death Note. Attack on Titan. Chainsaw Man. Vinland Saga, Skip to Loafer, more recently Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. The consistent hits from time-to time are nothing short of breathtaking. It's not just good, it's OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Today's' Disney: Star Wars everything.
The anime industry is becoming more like Hollywood, even worse in some aspects, but they still retain the imagination aspect around, Hollywood has zero.
I think the key it's anime make stuff internally coherent. It's not even the obnoxiousness. Disney almost get burned with the acolyte while crunchy roll savvy put they most mainstream anime a guy who could potentially have some romantic chemistry with her sister. It's the feeling they fighting against they customers that are screwing Hollywood
You piece perfectly describes my two recent experiences: The 3 classic Gundam compilation movies have been running at the multiplex here in Stockton California the last 2weeks (1 show only per movie, with the 3rd hitting next week). Even though I have watched these 3 movies a trillion times over the last 45 years, (first time in the form of a film comic... VHS tape trading weren't even a thing then), I was blown away how amazing the scenes were framed and cut watching them on the big screen. How the BGM and insert songs hit just right, and on time. How they varied the pace and tension to keep the audience's attention (these were 2+ hour long movies) But mostly, I was impressed by the lines: They were just so clean. The dialogues were natural, relatable, and when needed, exposition without sounding like an exposition (Anno should take note). This was no accident: Someone, not just Tomino, must have chewed on them over and over and over again, trimming away the fat, and sprinkling bits of information in order to make a story about giant robots work... a story of what is essentially a low budget 1979 cartoon commercial to sell toys. Not only were the lines dramatic, they also made "sense". In contrast, I watched Wild Robot about 2 weeks ago. Not only did I groan and grit my teeth nearly non stop after the first 10 promising minutes, I was particularly disappointed given how wonderful recent Dreamwork entries had been (i.e. Puss in Boots Last Wish and TMNT.). And this isn't a sequel like your KF Panda or Tonk Your Dragon whatever. While Lupita Nyong'o did an excellent job as the Wild Robot (Ros), her effort was totally wasted in a by- the-number, offend-nobody, happy-ending all-tied-up-in-a-pretty-bow story. Not only do adherence to political agenda or demographic to maximize profit creatively bankrupt a story, it is also very BORING.
hollywood's problem is it costs too much for them to bring the level of epicness anime has. it's just animation, top tier animation that looks as dope as something like DUNE
It's curtains for Hollywood. They will have a few more smash hits but that's only a bandaid Anime and UA-camrs and content creators are the new media now.

But When I suggested that anime to my friend, he rejected it and said it was still good roshidere, bro, my heart hurts when a masterpiece anime loses to a fanservice romcom anime in high school. 😢
I will continue watching the original How to Train Dragon movies and animated series. I appreciate "Vinland Saga" based on Viking lore. It does not focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) but instead on the story and conflicting characters. Also, they talk about representation how does Finland, Denmark, and Norway girls feel about being replaced. You're right anime harems, reboots, and most isekais are horrendous. Anime is not a perfect medium, but Eastern studios listen to the creators. Most English and Japanese voice actors don’t throw tantrums.
About the thumbnail. AoT is indeed kind of like the Game Of Thrones of Anime(in a good way.). But I still think Historia(the girl in the thumbnail) is very underused in the last arcs. She just accepted her role and started "breeding". Really, a shame. I like her character too. I'd rather have her stay with Ymir or fight in the frontlines with everyone. But yeah, in Aot, you can't have happiness. Potato girl. But I actually like Gabi's character development. I also like the ending. If I'm gonna nitpick, I guess I didn't like the part where Eren controlled the titans to kill his mom. Other than that, I guess it's fine. It's a great manga.
I've never heard an anime grossing a billion dollars in box office neither has it been better written choreographed etc Hollywood is vast and diverse of course it will have a large number of bad movies or TV series while anime on the other hand is more grounded I can think of several anime that has similarities to each other and people enjoy watching them its okay but anime and Hollywood are no were near competing with each other the high demand of anime is rising now but why not its an interesting watch Hollywood is not declining it's just has more content to offer anime with the way it's going is average
Consider Cowboy Bebop. It is the absolute coolest show of all time ever and how badly western studios botched their adaptation of it. This should have worked if they only told the story.
Only hollywood franchise worth over literally any anime in my opinion would be the John Wick franchise. It's vastly different from every hollywood film and the amount of thought, realism and art to (even in smalll scenes)t is far more deserving than anything. Although I am kinda against the spinoff they have prepared for 2025
Hollywood will keep making these awful live action atrocities if people pay money to have their memories ravaged. So, maybe just watch some DvDs of the original series, or even read the books. If you are capable of reading a whole book. I hear that skill is going the way of cursive handwriting.
When did Hollywood make a movie or two that was 6 hours long? Anime does it all the time through their twelve half hour episodes, and often more than that when the series gets approved for a second or third season.
Quality entertainment begins with storytelling. Unfortunately, modern Hollywood is more interested in pushing an agenda than giving us interesting characters and stories.
The Problem of Modern Hollyweird , It’s more leaning on selling ideology and serving a tongue in cheek Performative Activism rather than selling entertaiment
I think the big issue is that it post 2020, it went from making good movies to promoting politics. There is definitely outliers but every movie or show that has flopped was mainly because the politics was very obvious or the plot was bad or a combination of both. I don't mind them milking out franchises creating spin offs and numerous sequels because more means its good for everyone; gives people more stuff to watch. I don't mind all of that as long as they make it good even if they have politics that can all be forgiven if they at least made it good.

@raven1436 not all isekai are like that. Plus isekai is only a part of all anime.
Well said
writer in hollwood were on stike right , they are the most fooked up people in industry and they are the most imp
Exactly the bean counters are responsible for screwing things up.

Even those bangers don't hold a candle to some anime shows out there. I think anime has, always, universally, been underestimated by the people that never tried it.
Pick any franchise you'll see the same pattern MCU, Star wars, terminator, jurassic park, etc
not straight feels. it is indeed, that.
Well fucking said
Half of what you said about manga is wrong.
This is why I hate Hollywood and mainly watch anime now although I'll still watch movies however for reviews

Anime takes risks and because of this they make some original stories. Because of these risks some anime is garbage and it has its own carbon copy issues. However, Hollywood would never even think of making a show where the main character is an intelligent vending machine.
And like it or hate it. Nobody can deny that it is original.

Life is boring and painful full of struggle for a few moments of happiness so when you have something like movies you can sit down and escape into a Beautiful world like how to train your dragon
But now they only make movies for their own opinions and beliefs and let me give you a quick reality check: no one cares or wants your opinions they want to see a movie which is entertaining and fun to watch but these people don’t understand that and basically make a soulless cash grab or really bad propaganda of their own beliefs.

There are of course other ways to show an agenda/propaganda as was brought up with How to Train Your Dragon.,
I have for the most part giving up on Western Entertainment and exclusively watch Anime now for my source of entertainment due the propaganda and agenda driven nature of the industry that cares more about other things than story and character development. Also a note about Dune 2, they basically ruined Chani's character in order to make her a strong feminist characters instead of following the books which ruins any chance of Children of Dune being produced or in some cases have to do some really stupid shit to get Chani to return.

I think the problem he mentioned from that is how if you disagree some weebs would get offended
How isn't this viral yet!
It's simple. Anime is writer driven. Hollywood is boardroom driven.
The fact that Hollywood writers have more freedom and time to make their stories I still don't understand how they're overshadowed by an industry that gives little to no time to its creators
'They don't know how to end a franchise ',
Fast & Furious: Are you referring to me ??😂😂
At least the franchise doesn't take itself seriously 😂😂
The goat started long form aint no way.
You're the goat bro, I remember you too.
@@TrulyAB 🙏😭 love you bro no diddy
Not defending hollywood but the modern anime industry is not much better
Anime rules
Hollywood drools
Maybe one day they both can co-exist with each other but until that day comes, Anime will remain at #1.
Hollywood: We have UA-camrs acting as the main cast!
Anime: We have character assassination.
Hollywood: Hey let's may another Batman, Superman, Spiderman remake!!! It's only been done like 100000 times, right?
Fans: (tuning them out and turning to anime)
5:04 ah. Look, my favourite show.

I can't really offer a good take, but I think it has to do with two main factors: Passion and Creative Freedom.
Usually bad shows tend to have a team that lacks the passion to make the project amazing, or lack the creative freedom to spread their desired message, or create their ideal scenes.
While anime tends to have a lot more passion and creative freedom (shonen jump is a hard maybe in creative freedom though, since KNY and JJK had their entire concepts changed, but there's a lot more manga publishers that offer more creative freedom.)
Audiences like watching shows where thought was put into it, not just some meaningless slop that's there for a representation bonus.
The audience isn't stupid, and the directors need to figure that out.
people will watch slop if the slop is at least visually entertaining (high end animation or otherwise)
I've heard that even anime is failing right now, because of low budget, worker abuse, and strict deadlines. For example, there are some good adaptations, but also there are many bad adaptations, and then there are adaptations that are meh, or mid...
Anime and manga are simply not afraid not to follow or give in to the woke ideology! They do what's best for their respective stories...
they were woke before hollywood.
@robotx6259 one thing is adding inclusion and then there is forcing inclusion
Believe me when I say I've always found GOT and AOT similar, but we all know well at what Season GOT Should had stopped.
Got should have stopped at season 4
@Justanormalperson777 True, though in My case I would had asked to stop at Season 6 End, and leave it cliffhanger no matter what.
Creativity from Japan has been unparalleled. Anime is gong to make a big rise because these Hollywood execs much like the boomers are out of touch.
Anime is not western that's why it's good
Problem with that INDONESIAN MOVIES SUCK ASS

@@TrulyABbut people who want revenge find it fascinating.
I think redo is bad, but that for reasons mostly unrelated to "degeneracy
Dayneris is more similar to Eren than to Historia.
Valyrian - Elian.
Dragons - Attacking Titan.
Lost her parents - Lost his parents.
Wanted to bring justice - Wanted to bring justice.
Both killed by beloved ones.
Both went mad.
So basically Eren is AoT Dayneris, but with a Titan form instead of dragons.
but thumbnail wise...Historia fits better.
Not milking a franchise in anime? Are we talking about the same anime like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto or Detective Conan?
How one piece came into that?
Good job bro
Anime characters being able to relate better to their respective fans and audiences should also be a huge factor to consider
Finally, somebody said it.
Something that I heard, the American entertainment industry, has a lot of bots write there movies. Anime is written by living breathing humans. And anything the West makes that is by living breathing. Humans is a remake, copy, or something that’s been done to death.
Not quite, whilst anime studios do take risks. Some of them don't, take studio Engi for example. Bad adaptations, cutting corners
@@Kometblaze wow
Death Note. Attack on Titan. Chainsaw Man. Vinland Saga, Skip to Loafer, more recently Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. The consistent hits from
time-to time are nothing short of breathtaking. It's not just good, it's OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Today's' Disney: Star Wars everything.
The anime industry is becoming more like Hollywood, even worse in some aspects, but they still retain the imagination aspect around, Hollywood has zero.
I would hardly call Miles Morales. He's just another Spiderman whose good at science, got bitten by radioactive spider, and watches his uncle died.
You wanna redo that first sentence?
Hollywood lost its quality and ideas, while Japanese Anime has countless ideas, which is why I'm enjoying anime more than modern Hollywood these days.
Ha that Viking stereo type means this movie is cooked
hw is dangerous af
A lot of evil surrounds it.
I like anime for the reason that it dossnt give a f where as western media is toned down in some way its full creatvity on display
Right now UN try to boycott anime for women safety they said 😅
I didn’t know the Vikings invaded South Africa…like what 🤔
There are a lot of emotions live action movies/series will never be able to portrait.
To be honest one of the main reasons why we get bad anime because anime studios gets barely any money and budget to make anime
Well, then, 🇯🇵Anime industries are worse than Hollywood, anyway!
hollywood's problem is it costs too much for them to bring the level of epicness anime has. it's just animation, top tier animation that looks as dope as something like DUNE
It's curtains for Hollywood. They will have a few more smash hits but that's only a bandaid
Anime and UA-camrs and content creators are the new media now.
06:32 Bro, Koe no Katachi is the best anime and has influenced my life. When other people ask me what anime is good, I will suggest Koe no Katachi first.
Hiccup from how to train dragon= john krasinski
I also like the ending but I did not like the scene of eren killing his mom also
I've never heard an anime grossing a billion dollars in box office neither has it been better written choreographed etc Hollywood is vast and diverse of course it will have a large number of bad movies or TV series while anime on the other hand is more grounded I can think of several anime that has similarities to each other and people enjoy watching them its okay but anime and Hollywood are no were near competing with each other the high demand of anime is rising now but why not its an interesting watch Hollywood is not declining it's just has more content to offer anime with the way it's going is average
Consider Cowboy Bebop. It is the absolute coolest show of all time ever and how badly western studios botched their adaptation of it. This should have worked if they only told the story.
I heard the author of Cowboy Bebop wanted to beat up whoever was responsible for the live -action lmao.
@@TrulyAB I know I do
Only hollywood franchise worth over literally any anime in my opinion would be the John Wick franchise.
Some Americans still see anime solely as content enjoyed by children. It's my personal oponion of as a Japanese.
The original animated version HTTYD is always the GOAT in my heart. I just pretend the live action remake just didnt exist
I wouldn't say anime is perfect by a long shot.As much as i like anime some trends in the anime industry still baffle me
They ruined percy Jackson 4 me cause they just didn't give an f about the character. There were simple ways to fix it, but they chose not too
hollywood gonna be the next block buster at this rate

Live action of how to train your dragon, HELL NO! I'm good with the animation.
I don't mind all of that as long as they make it good even if they have politics that can all be forgiven if they at least made it good.
from watching the trailer i think the live action for how to train you dragon might be alright
