I learned about this topic, CEDAW, or the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, is an international treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1979. The Philippine Magna Carta of Women (Republic Act No. 9710) was enacted in 2009 to uphold and implement the principles and provisions of CEDAW in the Philippines. Essentially, the Magna Carta of Women serves as the domestic legislation that aligns Philippine laws with the principles and objectives of CEDAW, ensuring gender equality and protection of women's rights in the country.

Throughout the knowledge I have gained in this lesson I have learn that UN SDG that focuses on human rights specifically the Human Rights Base Approach have plans to empower the human rights of the countries such as the Philippines whom are in hunger for justice (justice for the oppressed). The HRBA goals is to renew the traditional system of humans and to be able to imply the modern policies in the society that focuses on Sustainable approach in accordance with the SDG Goals being implemented by the United Nation.
One of these approach is implementing CEDAW or Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women which is a treaty signed by many countries such as the Philippines whom is in subject bring equality between men and women, such as giving the equal rights to employment, giving the rights of authority over family matter and others rights that pertains women empowerment.
In the Philippines Magna Carte of Women, CEDAW plays an important role by providing specific and important guidelines that support women's rights in the Philippines. Such as the implementation of VAWC or known as Violence Against Women and Children which aims to minimize or likely to eliminate female and children's violence and discrimination.

CEDAW stands for the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. It is an international treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1979. CEDAW is often referred to as the international bill of rights for women and is considered one of the key international agreements that guide the work of UN Women in achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls. CEDAW is important because it provides a comprehensive framework for addressing discrimination against women and promoting gender equality. It requires countries to take concrete actions to eliminate discrimination and protect women's rights in various areas of life, including education, employment, health, and political participation.

I learned about this topic, The Magna Carta of Women (MCW) is a comprehensive human rights law for women that aims to end discrimination by recognising, defending, upholding, and advancing the rights of Filipino women, particularly those who are members of underrepresented social groups. The only human rights treaty that upholds women's rights to procreate while addressing the role of culture and tradition in determining gender norms and family dynamics is the CEDAW. It upholds the rights of women to obtain, alter, or keep their nationality, as well as the nationality of their offspring.

Thank you for this informative lecture about The HRBA, CEDAW, and the Magna Carta of Women. From this lesson po I learned that by applying these principles, the HRBA designates nations and the institutions that support them as duty bearers responsible for upholding, defending, and advancing human rights. The HRBA addresses individuals as rights-holders and empowers them to know, to claim and to enjoy their human rights. Sa CEDAW naman po ang aking natutunan ay ang CEDAW is often described as the international bill of rights for women, to ensure the effective protection of women against discrimination; and. to ensure elimination of all acts of discrimination against women by persons, and organizations. And the Magna Carta of Women seeks to eliminate discrimination through the recognition, protection, fulfillment, and promotion of the rights of Filipino women.

I learned from this lesson the definition of human rights, difference of the human rights based approach to traditional development approach, connection of HRBA to CEDAW, and the MCW in the Philippines. Human rights refers to rights that are inherent to all human beings and there is an empowerment when people can exercise their so called human rights. The HRBA framework contains a principle called PANEL or participation, accountability, non-discrimination & equality, empowerment, and legality. One difference of HRBA to traditional development approach is that it involves the duty bearers and right holders while the latter only focuses on the target outputs. CEDAW is an international bill of rights of women ratified by 189 states as of May 2015. Its principles are non-discrimination, state obligation, and substantive equality. Meanwhile, MCW was signed into law by the former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo with a salient provision making an essence to be the local version of the UN CEDAW.

After watching this video, I've learned about these two topics, CEDAW and HRBA. The 1979 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) defines discrimination against women and lays out specific steps that nations must follow to put an end to it. It is evident that the concepts and rules of CEDAW served as inspiration for the Magna Carta of Women, which directs the Philippines' domestic efforts to advance gender equality and women's rights. Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) places a high value on treating everyone fairly and making sure that marginalized groups are included in the decision-making.

    My two core learnings is
HRBA: HRBA is about making sure everyone's rights are respected, especially women's rights. It's like saying, "Hey, let's make sure everyone gets treated fairly and equally."
CEDAW and Magna Carta: These are important rules that say women should be treated fairly and protected from discrimination. CEDAW is a global rule, and the Magna Carta is specific to the Philippines. They help make sure women are treated well and have the same opportunities as men in the Philippines.

Human Right-Based Approach (HRBA) emphasizes the importance of integrating human rights principles (such as non-discrimination, participation, accountability) into policies, programs, and activities across all sectors and levels of governance.
Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women(CEDAW) requires States parties to take measures to eliminate discrimination against women in all areas of life, including legislation, policies, and practices. States parties are also required to submit periodic reports on their progress in implementing CEDAW provisions.

Things that i have learned in this topic is.
    1. Why cedaw is important?
CEDAW recognises the root causes of discrimination, including within culture. CEDAW
recognises that traditional gender roles and stereotypes have to be eliminated if we are
to be successful in ending all forms of discrimination against women and girls.
    2. The magna carta or women
As the primary duty bearer of the government tasked to:
    -refrain from discriminating against women and violating their rights;
    protect women against discrimination and from violation of their rights by private corporations, entities, and individuals;
promote and fulfill the rights of women in all spheres, including their rights to substantive equality and non-discrimination.

The video talks about a new way to help communities grow and improve called a "human rights-based approach." Instead of just looking at money and stuff, it focuses on making sure everyone, especially women and marginalized groups, can have their basic rights. This means treating everyone fairly and letting them take part in decisions. Two big agreements, the Magna Carta of Women and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, are super important for this. They help make sure women are treated equally and have the same chances as men. So, by following these ideas, we can make development better and fairer for everyone.

I learned a lot of useful information from this lesson. Human rights is something that we all human beings have and it recognizes and protects our dignity as a human being. As a rights-holder we are responsible for being aware of our rights. The CEDAW law shows how it can be connected to HRBA. Considering we have bills that have been adopted in the past it tends to favor other genders from the rest if we don't use HRBA as a framework to create laws and policies whose purpose is to adopt and give awareness for gender equality. An example of this is the different ways to approach an existing problem regarding women's rights, if we don't use HRBA and CEDAW on creating laws and policies to address these problems it may lead to other problems like less protection and security or less opportunities for women. We need to consider each gender's differences while being equal to each other.

I discovered from watching this movie that the Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) places a strong emphasis on incorporating human rights ideas into every facet of development. An international agreement known as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) aims to end discrimination against women in all spheres of society. The Magna Carta of Women addresses concerns like as violence and discrimination against women and unifies and reinforces legislation that support women's rights. When combined, these frameworks support women's empowerment and gender equality, but there are still obstacles to overcome before structural impediments are fully addressed.

Watching this lecture made me realized the power and importance of human rights. This video lecture also give emphasized in why we should fight and stand for our rights and the rights of others.
One of the key points discussed in this video lecture was the CEDAW, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. In the world where patriarchy and unfair treatment towards women exist, it is must to create an international bill that protect women from these discrimination and treatment. This bill addresses various dimensions mainly in women rights, including political, cultural, civil and social rights.
In addition for what i had learned, the video lecture also give emphasized to magna carte of women, enacted in the Philippines in 2009. This comprehensive law had the same porpuse as CEDAW which is to eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing and protecting their rights. It mandates the formulation of all gender-responsive policies and services across all government agencies.

As people of the Philippines, we value the human person's dignity and full existence above all else, even though we speak different languages and dialects, practice different spiritual beliefs, and uphold different ideologies. We also have similar objectives about human rights. Our history is one of revolutionary struggle against all forms of oppression in order to attain national liberation, justice, equality, and peace. The same fights and aspirations for independence and human rights have shaped our shared spirit and enabled us to become a country proud of our rich cultural diversity and history. We renew that same revolutionary spirit in our battle against the negative effects of globalization, debt, environmental harm, social injustice, and poverty. Because of this, people's rights and human rights are our main goals.

I have learned that the first thing that really stood out to me was the emphasis on using a human rights-based approach to development. Rather than just focusing narrowly on economic metrics, this perspective recognizes that true, sustainable progress hinges on ensuring all people - especially marginalized groups like women - can fully exercise their fundamental human rights. That feels like such a crucial paradigm shift that gets to the heart of what development should really be about. The other major takeaway for me was the importance of international treaties and strong domestic legislation to protect women's rights. The discussion highlighted instruments like CEDAW and the Philippine Magna Carta of Women, and how they enshrine critical principles and mechanisms for combating discrimination against women. Translating global norms into robust national laws is clearly vital for turning aspirations into tangible change on the ground.

It calls for the adoption of temporary special measures to accelerate the achievement of equality between men and women and for the establishment of mechanisms to monitor the implementation of the convention.
CEDAW has been ratified or acceded to by almost all UN member states, making it one of the most widely accepted human rights treaties. It has been influential in shaping national and international policies and laws related to gender equality and women's rights. The treaty has also inspired other international agreements and conventions aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of women and girls.

The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, along with the Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA)The Magna Carta of Women and Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) serve as essential cornerstones for establishing gender equality and safeguarding human rights.
Recognizing women's rights as fundamental human rights and stressing the value of equal opportunity and the absence of gender bias is one important lesson to be learned from these frameworks.

I learnd that the diffrences of HRBA, CEDAW and Magna Carta of Women (MCW) is that HRBA (Human Rights-Based Approach) is a conceptual framework used in development programming and policy-making that integrates international human rights standards and principles into development plans, policies, and processes. CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women) is an international treaty adopted by the United Nations that sets an agenda for national action to end discrimination against women. The Magna Carta of Women, on the other hand, is a specific Philippine law that aims to eliminate discrimination against women by promoting their rights and equal opportunities.

Despite the fact that we speak various languages and dialects, profess various spiritual beliefs, and maintain various ideologies, we, the peoples of the Philippines, place the highest emphasis on the dignity and fullness of life of the human individual. We also share a common goal for human rights.
In order to achieve national liberation, justice, equality, and peace, our history is one of revolutionary struggle against all forms of oppression. Our collective spirit has been influenced by the same struggles and ambitions for independence and observance of human rights, which have helped us to become a nation proud of our history and diversity of culture. In our fight against the damaging impacts of globalization, debt burden, environmental damage, social inequity, and poverty, we rekindle that same revolutionary spirit. People's rights and human rights are our top priorities as a result of them.

Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) is this cool framework that's all about integrating human rights principles into everything we do, like development projects and policies. It's basically about making sure that promoting and protecting human rights is at the core of decision-making. With HRBA, we aim to empower people and tackle inequalities and discrimination.
Now, let's talk about CEDAW, which stands for the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. It's like the ultimate rulebook for ending discrimination against women worldwide. CEDAW covers everything from politics to economics to culture, outlining steps to achieve gender equality. It's super important for advocating women's rights and shaping policies to make sure women are treated fairly everywhere.

In the Philippines, Human Rights has been one of the things that people can't equal have beacuse of some factors that other people consider like color, status, gender and many more and like what said in the video Human Rights is essential and one of the characteristics of a human being. There is a comprehensive statute protecting women's rights called the Magna Carta of Women, which strives to prevent discrimination against women and advance gender equality. The government and business sector are required by the Magna Carta of Women to take action to remove gender bias and guarantee equal opportunity for women. The incorporation of gender perspectives into policies and programs, the development of gender-responsive programs and services, and the encouragement of women's participation and representation in decision-making bodies are all necessary. The Magna Carta of Women is important because it provides the Philippines with a legislative foundation for advancing gender equality and empowering women. It asks for the elimination of these barriers and acknowledges that gender inequality is a roadblock to advancement. Although the law is in place, several regions of the nation still struggle with its implementation. With all the topic that has been discussed and all the Articles that emphasize the rights of every women the Magna Carta of Women really brought something that can make women knowledgable about the things they need to fight and not only women but all the people who feel discriminated, Human Rights, proctection, equality, respected must have by all the people living in this world regardless of color, appearance, gender, status and culture.

For the question of what do human rights have to do with gender and development or the addressing of gender issues?
    - Human rights are deeply interconnected with gender and development because they provide a framework for ensuring equality and dignity for all individuals, regardless of gender. Addressing gender issues involves recognizing and respecting the fundamental rights of individuals, such as the right to education, healthcare, and freedom from discrimination and violence. Human rights frameworks help identify and challenge systemic inequalities and injustices that disproportionately affect women and marginalized gender groups. By upholding human rights principles, societies can promote gender equality, empower women, and create environments where everyone can fully participate in and benefit from development processes. In essence, human rights serve as a cornerstone for advancing gender equality and fostering inclusive development.

The Philippine Magna Carta of Women, on the other hand, is a national law enacted in 2009 that aims to eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting, fulfilling, and promoting their rights. While CEDAW sets out the international standards for women's rights, the Magna Carta of Women specifically applies to the Philippines and serves as a framework for addressing gender discrimination and promoting gender equality within the country.

Good evening, maam! In the presentation, I learned about human rights, which are basic entitlements for everyone, regardless of factors like gender or nationality. These rights include things like access to education, healthcare, and protection from discrimination. The video discussed the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), which aims to ensure equality between men and women worldwide. It addresses issues like discrimination in laws and policies, access to education and healthcare, and women's participation in political and economic life. Additionally, it explored the Philippine Magna Carta of Women, which is a local law inspired by CEDAW. It provides protection against discrimination, promotes gender equality, and ensures women's participation in various sectors, including government and the private sector. Through these laws and principles, efforts are made to empower marginalized groups and promote a more equitable society. I am looking forward to learn more about your subject, maam. Thank you for the information that you have shared!

First of all, as women it is essential to raise our voices. Women won't be able to live free lives until they have complete access to their rights. It covers a wide range of topics, such as rights to land ownership and fair compensation. Furthermore, a nation can only change when its women have a voice in everything and receive equal treatment.Women's rights are fundamental human rights that are fought for by women and girls around the globe. Women's rights are crucial for everyone in the world. She is not the only one who gains from it; everyone in society does. The world may advance together with everyone playing a crucial part when women are granted equal rights. Women would not have been able to exercise something as fundamental as the right to vote if there were no women's rights. Additionally, it is a game-changer for female victims of gender discrimination.Women's rights are crucial because they allow them the chance to go to school and succeed in life. They become independent, which is crucial for all women worldwide. Therefore, it is up to us all to ensure that women's rights are upheld everywhere.

In this video lecture, there are two things that I've learned in this topic: the HRBA and the Philippine Magna Carta of Women.
The HRBA, or Human Rights-Based Approach, is the representation of the process of human development that is, promoting the protection of human rights and empowering every individual to know and claim their right. It is also important to know the principles of HRBA which are the participation, accountability, non-discrimination and equality, empowerment, and participation.
And the Philippine Magna Carta of Women is a Republic Act, enacted on August 14, 2009, that represents as a milestone for the Philippine feminist movement which it turned out to be a bill of women's rights. This act aims to empower and protect women against discrimination and violence, as well as promoting equal opportunities and treatment for both women and men.

The Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA), the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), and the Magna Carta of Women are critical foundations for advancing gender equality and protecting human rights. One key takeaway from these frameworks is the recognition of women's rights as inherent human rights, emphasizing the importance of fair opportunities and the lack of gender bias. Another important lesson is the importance of proactive tactics and policies to address ingrained gender gaps, such as increasing women's participation in decision-making positions and assuring their access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. These frameworks serve as guiding principles for building inclusive and fair societies around the world.

Women have suffered a lot through the years at the hands of men. In earlier centuries, they were treated as almost non-existent. As if all the rights belonged to men even something as basic as voting.
Moreover, the education and freedom scenario is very regressive here. Women are not allowed to pursue higher education, they are married off early. The men are still dominating women in some regions like it’s the woman’s duty to work for him endlessly. They do not let them go out or have freedom of any kind.
There are various ways in how one can empower women. The individuals and government must both come together to make it happen. Education for girls must be made compulsory so that women can become illiterate to make a life for themselves.
Women must be given equal opportunities in every field, irrespective of gender. Moreover, they must also be given equal pay. We can empower women by abolishing child marriage. Various programs must be held where they can be taught skills to fend for themselves in case they face financial crisis.
Most importantly, the shame of divorce and abuse must be thrown out of the window. Many women stay in abusive relationships because of the fear of society. Parents must teach their daughters it is okay to come home divorced rather than in a coffin.
