  • We pulled the motor out of its storage spot and got straight to work deconstructing it all the way down to the block so we can know what we need to order to get the rebuild done right! Restore! Refit! Reimagine! Replace! Working on this sailboat just took a huge turn in the right direction! Progress NOT perfection!

Mechanical skills are an art form. Being mechanics of engines, motors, epoxy mixing,or whatever it takes to keep learning. Keeps the world going round.
    I love this channel.

Thank you for continuing to join us and for the encouragement. Often, we are super intimidated by the next step in our project but we have been very blessed with some great people guiding us along the way!

Great project for the family. Best wishes on your adventure. I'm all caught up now on your videos. Sure do have your work cut out for you. I only have one comment regarding the cap around the deck joint... You might want to take off the teak and verify there is no seam. If there is, you will wish you had ripped it off sooner to glass over it a few times. Will be an unending source of leakage when you get out there.

There is a cone shaped nut that holds the jaws under tension for the slide hammer. Didn't see it on there

It was on there. This one has a coned end (or tip) but otherwise looks like a lug nut.

That damper plate for my Perkins 6354 4 was 700 bucks, Ridiculous

We have definitely learned, since starting this particular project, that certain makes and models are much harder to find parts for at reasonable marks.

We have been ordering everything from Donavon. Definitely more affordable than West Marine but they don’t have big or bulk offerings like you’re describing. Thank you for sharing. We will definitely check them out!

ua-cam.com/video/BMWgDSD32SA/v-deo.html. This is best example of a 52 Irwin I’ve seen. Eastern burlap trading Norfolk Va .for fiberglass . Happy Thanksgiving

The engine looks like it didn't have to many hours on it. To bad it got water in it at some point.

Exactly. Just sitting on a shelf (covered and protected) in Florida and moisture found it’s way in it. But, I think we are working it all out!
