Thanks for reviewing this one EBR! Great to see solid performance since this bike is near the top of my wishlist. Flyer's accessories are so far ahead vs the competitors - in my opinion only Tern has them beat in this area. I need something to keep the Texas sun off my kiddo's head, and Flyer's canopy looks perfect. 🥵 Any chance you could also review the Via non-Pro version? It's -15 pounds- (Edit: actually only 5 lbs difference) lighter given its smaller motor and lack of suspension, but it has the same battery size so I would expect range to be quite a bit better over the Pro model. Just curious if the smaller motor still has enough power. Plus the non-Pro comes in an awesome "School Bus Yellow" that is very tempting 😎
Non-pro is listed at 68 lbs while Pro is at 72.5 lbs. This bike is at the top of my list - it's either this (Pro version) or Specialized Globe Haul LT or Xtracycle Swoop. I'm leaning towards this one - the tipping factor is the all weather riding package: they've thought about this and have a product that just works off the shelf. Other bikes require some custom adapters or tinkering. I also wish they had the schoolbus yellow color for Pro, I would jump on that. I'm also debating whether I really need Pro. Have you decided what you're getting?
Awesome! Another ebike that lets you treat the torque sensor as a cadence sensor via its software! I prefer the control a torque sensor provides, but when I tweak a knee or am hauling or towing cargo, there are times I want to have the bike do the bulk of the work. I hope more brands do this! I think this is especially helpful in a cargo ebike application. Nice features in both hardware and software- not many displays let you customize the PAS settings as much as this does. Bummer the cadence sensor mode uses a speed-setting style versus a current/power setting style though. Thanks for another thorough review. I might have missed it, but what’s the peak torque of the motor? Never mind, you mentioned it after the hill climb test.
We hope more brands do the torque/cadence thing too! My guess is that the speed option was chosen instead of current for simplicity's sake. Thanks for watching! The peak torque is 85 Nm.
Do you all still happen to have the Via Pro on hand to measure the width of the Kid & Cargo Carrier Hoop grab bars? I'm trying to outfit their Carry & Go Tote Bag (show in your video review) for something else. Thank you!
Between this and Specialized Globe Haul LT, which one would you recommend for hauling 2 toddlers and commuting? Live in the Boston area. 10 miles each way and not very hilly. Will be riding with traffic 50% of the way. Thank you!
John here. That's tough. We've only tested the Globe Haul ST at this point in time, but I would expect the LT to feel similar. The Haul was one of the best-performing bikes we tested in 2023, period. But for a cargo bike, the Via Pro's ability to switch between cadence and torque modes is awesome, plus the passenger compartment accessories are cool and unique. Considering the price difference, I think the Via probably offers better value. You could add tons of accessories and still save some cash. But the Globe Haul is a killer bike too!
John here. Both should work well for those purposes. The Packer is a solid budget-friendly option, but I think you get what you pay extra for with the Via Pro. The app customization and choice between cadence/torque sensing modes are worthy upgrades that you won't find in many other places. Hope that helps!
@@ElectricBikeReport TY for the reply. I watched your reviews for both and the range and hill tests seem to favor the VPro. Did you notice a difference between the P1 hydraulic fork vs the spring fork of the VPro?
Torque sensor and resulting better control, full passenger kit, better and brighter lighting package, suspension fork, better derailleur & shifters, brake levers & calipers, chainguard, app connectivity and ability to apply firmware updates may make the difference worthwhile for some people. $2499 for a cargo ebike is still a great price. The XPedition is more accessible due to its lower price, which is a good thing. I own an XPedition (dual battery). It suits its purpose and is a good value but it has shortcomings, which includes some sloppy manufacturing, especially in their accessories. Found a couple of safety-related items (kickstand kept coming loose until I replaced the washers with a wedge-lock washer and brake calipers aren’t properly aligned with rotors such that the pads overhang the rotors, which can cause unworn pad material to catch the edge of the rotors and potentially kicking the pads further out of alignment), but most are just annoying but acceptable if you factor in the price.

We just bought the Via Pro! This review helped our decision. I love it so much riding with my toddler! Thank you!
That's awesome! We love hearing that we're able to help folks decide on a good bike. Thanks for letting us know!
Great review John. Impressive results from that motor but my guess is more praise for the controller is at the core of this great showing. 26:07

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of the Via Pro vs. the Radwagon 5.

That app is pretty sweet.

Looking at the Via Pro vs the Velotric Packer 1. Any thoughts on which would be better at hauling my 9 yo daughter and doing some food deliveries?

@electricbikereport, I’d like to know as well. I’d like to bike my kids through hilly Pittsburgh
$2499 is a steep price when Lectric has their cargo dual battery bike at $1699.

You are comparing a century old company with full R&D department.....vs a import company with a few graphic designers...
