Installing 4 New Speakers In My '65 Falcon!!

- I bought these speakers from RetroSound more than a year ago and I'm FINALLY getting to put them in!! In a previous episode, we finished our package tray and put in holes for the rear speakers, so we'll be putting the larger 6x9 speakers back there, but today we'll also be installing front speakers in our new kick panels.
Special thanks to RetroSound for sending the RetroMat sound dampening material! We can't wait to see how it makes everything sound when we fire up my new radio!!

Every car needs a little boom boom. Good to upgrade from the original mono radio times to present stereo left n right LOL My 66 mustang has a radio that has mono for the AM radio and stereo for the factory 8 track player which is stereo ;) Interesting to have 5 speakers in the car LOL...does that mean it ready for 5.1 dolby already?? hmmm...nice job on the video and the install!

One word from a Pro... Although those Rear Speakers are going to sound nice, and a Car's Trunk makes the best Baffle Box...
In the future, you might want to think about upgrading. The Magnets on those Rear Speakers look quite small and shallow. Bigger, heavier Magnets give MUCH stronger, deeper Bass! More importantly, more accurate, solid Mid Bass. In simpler terms - they'll BUMP HARDER!! 😁
If you'd like, I have specific recommendations for Rear Speakers.
The Front Speakers and Kick Panels should be adequate, and fill in the Mids and Highs beautifully.
You'll want to add Bass Blockers to the Front Speakers.... Because too much Bass input into smaller Speakers will cause premature failure.
..... Just looking out for a young Girl doing an incredible job!! 😉

Haha my '83 XE Falcon only came with one speaker & AM radio (Australia), when I was 17 I fitted a CD player, 6" speakers in the doors & 6"x9" the parcel shelf or "back dash" is much nicer
I just battled lawnmower last night in a recording session...I totally get it! Haha, the Falcon should sound great! Sorry if I missed it, but any plans to dye or cover the kick panels? Or maybe I should ask the same question in reverse...plans to make more interior panels black?
Good question. We realized that we forgot to mention that while we were putting them in. When we get to doing the interior we're going to dye them with a Palomino color to match the new door panels and seat covers.

How is your access to Carl's High-beam switch with the new speaker kick panels ? It looks a little tight from the video-camera view point.
Great job, my 61 had only 1 speaker as well, it was located in the dash....
Thank you! Yes, we saw that hole under the dash vent! We even put our own speaker in there for a little while, but I can't wait to hear how everything sounds with the new radio!!

Hey Ellie, I'm doing similar work to my '65 Ranchero. I bought the same kick panel speakers and the passenger side kick panel hits the original heater box which causes the panel to sit about 2 inches too far back. I watched your video to see how you dealt with this but it looks like you've got air conditioning in your car. That's also on the to-do list for my car and would solve the interference issue. Which air conditioning kit did you use so I can use the same one and ensure proper clearance for the kick panel?
How hard is it to hit the dimmer switch now?
A little annoying. You have to sneak your foot around behind the speaker. But, I have a hard time getting my foot that far back anyway, so we're thinking of doing some repositioning of the dimmer switch and maybe even the pedals.

I'm guessing her dad is about 5ft 7in tall that comes in handy working in a little car like that giraffes like me over 6 ft tall suffer trying to get in there.
