VIDEO CORRECTIONS (compiled from viewer comments):
    From Juan Pablo:
FCU (Autopilot) panel o. The glareshield. You have HDG 360 twice. The window on the right should read Altitude.
    From The Beast:
the HDG display and IAS indicator on the right side of the flight control panel shown at 18:19 actually display desired altitude and VERTICAL speed respectively, not HDG and IAS
and at 27:33, the A/T DISC switch only disconnects the autothrottle, to reengage autothrottle you have to do so on the flight control pane
    From Edward Long:
2: the flap handle is way too long, should be about 2 inched in length.

Another small change, if you will. IRS stands for INERTIAL Reference System, so it gets data from the INERTIAL Reference Units, not the internal reference units.

Some viewers seem to be hung up on the video title, suggesting we should have included a plane make/model. Our work here is indeed based on the Airbus A220 airplane cockpit. However, we've taken calculated liberties for the sake of education and our desired end product. This is not aviation certification course material, it's just real smart entertainment. As such, it's not appropriate to name a specific model. This is a high fidelity representation of where aviation is now, and where it's headed for the time being.
The act of sharing knowledge is an invitation, not a closed door or an unreachable prize to hoard. Be kind when explaining what you know, not rude. It's hard to learn from mean teachers. UA-cam comments section doesn't have to be low quality, we can be good teachers for each other when commenting. Animagraffs welcomes high quality feedback, as always. Let's learn together.

You can follow along and do the same thing in a modern flight simulator that has a study-level airliner. You'll have to go through the controls in the correct order to start up the systems and prepare the airplane for flight. It's fun if you're into sim stuff!

Former Boeing.... your detailed 3D animations are always amazing. I have watched other of your videos on aircraft construction and operations. All very close to real life. Every aircraft is a little bit different, but the basics never change. Yaw, Pitch, Roll are the 3 most important concepts every pilot must master to safely fly any aircraft.
One thing not mentioned is choice of colors for flight-deck. I still remember when Boeing Triple Seven (777) came out with an all glass cockpit and fly by wire. Adjustable display panels and muted interior colors helped pilots focus without eye fatigue. Since then, all modern aircraft have all glass cockpits and fly by wire. I am old school stick and rudder, or yoke. Side stick needs lots of practice in simulator to master. I just recalled problems in some military jets and side stick were too sensitive and high G load on pilot's arm could accidentally push stick in error.
It's funny, 20 years ago at Boeing, engineers had very sophisticated CAD systems. Your 3D see through and fly through are 10 times better than what they had back then. One IBM CATIA workstation cost 50 grand plus annual license. Times have really changed in computing.

I was involved in the design of the 220 from the beginning when it was the C Series at Bombardier. You have done a great job at this drawing. A couple of things need fixing. 1: on the FCP the HDG is written twice. The windows from left to right should be speed, HDG, altitude.
2: the flap handle is way too long, should be about 2 inched in length.

    • @edwardlong189
      @edwardlong189 2 роки тому +2

A couple of other details. On the EICAS display ( second display from the left with the engine instruments) you have a compass rose which should not be there. The EICAS display is devoted to the engine instruments only.
On the first officers Nav display ( second inboard from the right) you have a large U shaped graphic which should not be there.
On the glare shield are the priority lights that depict which stick has taken control. The light segment shows a green arrow in the direction ofthe commanded side.

This video turned out amazing. Such great information on the A220 flight deck. Now I can share with people what I actually do. This would have been such a great resource to have when I was studying to become an airline pilot. I will definitely be sharing this.
Also, I had to smile at the comment that said there should be a version 2. Clearly they have never been in this flight deck.

Wow! This is an amazingly detailed video that will probably step up my flight simulating experience. I stopped just short of my private ticket due to life events, but I still like to flight sim occasionally, guessing my way through some of the more advanced aircraft features. This video is spectacularly detailed! I will check out your other videos, even the non-flight related ones.

Thank you for creating this. I was always curious what all those panels and controls were for. Goes to show how much a pilot has to know to effectively and safely navigate an airliner. Really amazing how much is involved. Truly fascinating. Also, Great Job on creating this video. Graphic information was fabulous.

Just when I thought the narrator didn't joke around at all until 17:35 talking about the EDM switch.
That's Emergency Decent Mode and not a special guarded switch to play Electronic Dance Music 😅😂😂😅😅

As a plane enthusiast myself I can confirm that this deck is cursed looking, it has the b787 horizon, windshield, and seats but has the upper panel of an a350 and the joystick from the a350 too
Edit: it also the HUD on the first officer’s side (right side)

I love the use of the A220. Since it was the Bombardier C Series plane, it doesn’t follow as much of the Airbus automation design. If you were using the Airbus flight deck as an example, the video might have been 5 minutes, and if you were using a Boeing model, the video would have been 2 hours. It really is a good mix while also demonstrating the systems of a very modern airliner.

    • @topethermohenes7658

What makes you say that? Do you mean that an airbus system is so easy that 5 mins is enough to discuss everything?

watching this directly after the "how a jetliner works" video cleared up so much when it came to realizing that nearly each and every switch and knob are connected to every element of the plane described in the previous video. When I saw the EDM switch I quietly chuckled and thought you'd simply just explain what it was and then audibly laughed when you made the joke about an "impromptu skyrave"
