A series "Legends & Lies: The Patriots" was produced for Fox News Channel by Warm Springs Productions and it examines the notable figures and events of the American Revolution era.
The American Revolution was neither inevitable nor a unanimous cause. It pitted neighbors against each other, as loyalists and colonial rebels faced off for their lives and futures. These were the times that tried men's souls: no one was on stable ground and few could be trusted. Through the fascinating tales of the first Americans, "Legends and Lies: The Patriots" reveals the contentious arguments that turned friends into foes and the country into a warzone.
From the riots over a child's murder that led to the Boston Massacre to the suspicious return of Ben Franklin, the "First American;" from the Continental Army's first victory under George Washington's leadership to the little known southern Guerilla campaign of "Swamp Fox" Francis Marion, and the celebration of America's first Christmas, The Patriots recreates the amazing combination of resourcefulness, perseverance, strategy, and luck that led to this country's creation.

I remember when we focused on America's great heroes, knew their stories and all felt good about ourselves. All the kids in my class in the 50's and 60's knew and were taught this story. We were a cohesive nation. Now, who knows it? And that is why we are fractured. We are taught our faults, not our victories.
We outa teach both, there’s no way to happiness happiness is the way. Picking one over the other doesn’t fix the issue of humanity. We are all one human family America by the help of almighty God is the living proof of this, to build a more perfect union means we must stand united and divided we must not become. We need to bring the world under this umbrella and build a United world where the planet itself is the only country and we are automatic citizens of the world. No more borders !

our founders said we are the People with Natural Rights to Freedoms from the Creator. they declared it in writing in July 1776, the 1st and 2nd paragraphs. Human is a species whereas People is step above; Human Rights is a UN verbiage whereas those powers that be do not care about individual Liberty but treat you like a herd animal.

Did you actually pay attention to the video. Even some of Washington’s own commanders were trying to out him for his job because they thought him incompetent. We are not fractured. We are a democracy, and in democracy there is always heated debate about which way the country shall move.

What makes you think she exists now? 91 indictments of made up "novel" charges against a fully acquitted twice impeached president? Imprisoning people who rioted for less than three hours and started no fires and one of them who was unarmed was shot and killed, and they still rot in jail, while their counter parts who despise their own nation burned and murdered for months on end and face little to no jail time and many even given cash payouts, and have town squares, like in DC, named for them. I can't imagine what these men went through. These men are the absolute greatest men to ever live in American history!

In the land these men fought to make free and self ruled, their legacy now in that same land is taught in a manner that makes them greater villains than ever the Crown made them out to be. They are now despised by their own off spring to levels not known in their life time even by their worst enemies.

Rob Lowe's ancestor was one of those Hessians who surrendered. He later took the deal offered to defect and join the American cause.
So you are saying he started the war on a Lowe but ending on a High? Cool. Lots of Hessians quit and became farmers in America, why not their Viking great to 5th grand parents did the same thing in England.
A college friend of mine in Ohio claimed descent from a Hessian soldier. According to family history the ancestor partied hard with comrades the night before they were shipped home at the end of the war. He slept too late, and woke to discover the ship had sailed without him! He decided then that it was Heaven's will that he become an American.
same story in our family. We have an ancestor that was a Hessian soldier that was captured by the Patriots during the battle of Trenton. He was released after the war and became a farmer in PA.
