What are your thoughts on this MantisPod Pro from PGYTech? Do you think it will help you make more creative content?
Great review man! Thanks. This tool looks awesome!
Great review! Can you attach the smallrig cage with the built-in arcaswiss mount without the pgytech base plate?
Great video. I think I want this tripod. I can use my phone or camera easily. It is a little expensive but probably worth it.
Love the mantis mode. Recently my gorillapod lost a leg and came too loose. Maybe this will sub my vlogging stick
anyway I can add an extend rod to increase the ball head height?
Could it be possible to attach the Mantis at the bottom of a DJI OM5 Gimbal? So that, for example, i can setup the "thing" on a tree or fence and use the gimbal's tracking features to film myself.
It is possible to do this, but I would make sure that it is secure. Using it like this might create an imbalance of weight. So make sure it won't tip over when you set it up. But yes, in theory, this is possible to do. It's a really cool idea actually! Hope it work out for you.
I have one for my A7S III.
My only concern is, is the Mantispod supposed to rattle in the positions? the big black circle button that makes the mantis pod move well it seems it just doesn't want to stay still it wobbles etc hopefully that makes sense?
Yeah, I mentioned that in the video. Mine shifts a little bit. But if you use the extended configuration you won't have that issue. Hope that helps!
I had actually taken a video of this exact same problem with the big black circle button and sent it to PGYtech support team and they confirmed that it was an issue. They sent me a replacement for free which has no wobble at all...for now. I also ordered a second one from a different authorized dealer and had the same wobble. I also had an issue with the ball head loosening with a camera way under the weight limit. I was unable to tighten it even with the included hex key. So I ended up returning the whole thing. They seem to have some quality control issues
@@biinsen6097 Wow, that's interesting. I haven't had the ball head loosen (yet). I'll keep an eye out for that. Bummer that you had such a bad experience with them. I'm able to work around the wobble by using the extended mode, which I liked better anyway. (I obviously shouldn't have to work around anything.) It's nice they sent you a "better" one, but again, that shouldn't have to be the case. If I experience any more flaws I'll probably end up doing a follow up video showing all these issues. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks for this Review! My problem with this stick: In my opinion its little bit too anoying to change the lenght of the stick, you have to replace the hole camera with ballhead and so on, Not really practical. Because of that also the price is too high. But all in all seems to be a good stick.
I think once you've used it for a little bit you realize its actually super quick and easy to switch to the extended mode. You don't have to remove the camera at all. The ball head comes off with a couple twists of the knob, you extend the handle, then screw the head back down. I can do it in a few seconds. Also, I don't really find the need to switch it during a shoot. I keep mine in extended mode then just bring my arm closer if I want a tighter shot.
I agree the price may seem a little high for a lot of users. Everyone has different budgets. But I think the build quality and versatility make it worth the price.
Thanks for checking out the channel!
I got mine a few weeks ago. It's freaking awesome! Even my wife loves it.. for her random vlogs
