  • The San Francisco Municipal Railway is a part the City of San Francisco's vast transit system operated under authority of the city. Among the famous Cable Cars, Muni operates a fleet of Light Rail Vehicles on a Subway-Overland-hybrid system; with high-speed operations underground in some areas and in dedicated above-ground right-of-ways or even right through the street in others. The current fleet of LRV's consist of older Breda-built LRV3's and Siemens built LRV4's, though this video series mainly focuses on the Breda's before they are retired. Also operated by Muni are a restored collection of PCC (President's Conference Commitee) streetcars which were in service in certain transit systems (including muni) in the 20th century; all painted in the various paint schemes representing historical transit systems chosen by MUNI. These cars currently shuttle mostly tourists between Castro St. and Fisherman's Wharf.
