Deep in the night, I feel the presence of something that was long ago told to me. There is a hand guiding the river, the river to wide open sea. And deep in my heart, in any gain, on any mountain no I'm not afraid. Standing on stone, you stand beside me, and all of the plans that were made.
I love this album. there are many beautiful songs like BE STILL . THE WAY IT WAS and so on.. I always think this album has great songs than others. I know there are great songs in other albums like HUMAN / BRIGHTSIDE ;;; But I think this mood (like U2??) is also featuring KILLERS's variety? and also the more i listen this album songs , the more i fall in love this songs it's very surprised.
JongHyeon Han Yeah when you first hear a song from this album in specific at first you dont really like it , but when you listen more carefuly and search the lyrics you see that every song from this album is a masterpiece. At least thats what happens to me haha.
Great song. What makes the song is the bass hook. This is what people recognize, but it's not what others have said. It's a recycle of Lou Reeds' Walk on the wild side....transposed a bit....basically bass 11th Chords though. I still love it. They are such great story tellers. There is a second over dub bass part in spots. Long live the Killers!
is the same thing i thought listening the song! in my opinion reply the sounds of one of the best songs in rock history is a sign of experience and ability to make good music! in many killers songs there are references to greats artits like Queen, U2, Dire Straits, Elvis, Bowie, Depeche mode..
Great! Think the lyrics is a little different in two parts: at 4.13 think it's "in any GAME" and "NO I'm not afraid" and at 4.23 think it's "and HONOR the plans that were made". Anyway good job!
I really really love this song, but I don't get one thing... is it a love song? This is clearly the story between Brandon and his wife, but why she say "daddy"? I'm confused
I have never seen this song as a love song between him and Tana. I feel like it's a song about strugles with ourselves and trying to figure it out our way and to be with the ones we love and the ones who love us and know us as we are and to never forget that there is a God above us, looking for us. I see that in Heart of a Girl.
You know, Brandon Flowers tried very hard not to bring his religion into his songs. He failed miserably with this one. "There is a hand, guiding the river, the river to wide open seas." He's talking about GOD. Side note: A lot of people interpret this as a love song between him and his wife. Whenever I hear this song, I think about my dad and how many times he's been with me in hard times. He's never left my side even when we're upset at each other.
Parker Houck There's nothing wrong about religion; I'm a mormon myself. One thing that Brandon Flowers has said though is that he avoids letting his religion influence his music. I just find it amazing that The Killers have so many songs with hints of religion in them when Flowers tries not to include those hints. I think it's great.
He has many of his songs connected to his faith, I honestly don't have a problem with that even as a "former" Christian. I still believe in a God though mainly because of his music.
I'm Atheist but still find his songs relatable even when they get spiritual. He does a great job of putting religion into his songs without making them exclusive to Christians, which is wonderful for mainstream music to do. It's not often a Christian artist writes music that everyone can enjoy.
this song never fails to make me cry, i connect with it so deeply
Amazing song, but 3:49 till the end- wow. Really beautiful. This band only gets better with time.

They want you to find your own meanings in their songs, I heard him say in an interview.
Just fell in love with the killers all over again.

May 2nd BABY! :D
This is a bass lead song anyway, so the bass is what made the song.
It's 'Honour the plans that were made' at the end
I want to make this song with my own but combining with this songs a little
One person prefers the heart of a boy.
I had a heart of a girl. For a long time. I suffered long for it. I obliged to changed it to a 50% professional male heart.
So call me maybe
Es tan :')

Anna Bush I figured the hand was his wife's hand but I see what you mean
I don't understand why religion is bad?

seriously justin ?
sweet Jane riff huh? This riff was used 100,000x before sweet Jane. Non-musicians shouldn't be allowed to discuss "riffs"
wtf? 7 dislikes! Justin B Fans 🙄
