    That's a good tip for the cristata, ours is not happy after two winters outside with no water, it goes dormant but then... no flowers.

    Great video sir. Here in NJ,USA I need to keep reminding myself of your seasonal difference but I'm growing most of the orchids you show. I've wanted a Den. victoria regina but read they need it very cool or even cold as in your conditions. But this was a colorful and inspiring look at your successes! 🤩

      Thanks for watching! Yes, they need cool/cold winter nighttime temps - but it deals very well with my hot summers!

      I have a den. victoria reginae here in California and it’s currently blooming it’s head off for the third time this year. I keep it indoors since it gets super hot and dry here but it loves the air conditioned environment in my home office. I have the same experience as Matthew where I have it in fairly bright light where it even has some tinges of red/purple on the stem which it is loving. So absolutely go for it, you will love it! Bonus is that it will appreciate if you are someone who tends to overwater things.

      @@Hazel_Dazel TY for the info. and encouragement. I've had some success with Masdevallias and Restrepias for a season or so but Dens. have taken up some space which I like as I've gotten much better with their culture. So this one will be on the ever expanding wish list.

    Hilarious to see duo de citron on here. It's become my go to phrase for many emotions when you shouldn't t say worse things. It can be used in many situations depending on emphasis. My son finds it hilarious when I say "duo de citron!!!"😀🤣

    Greetings from AUT to AUS! Early spring here. My Sarcochillus hybr. 'Astrid' (hartmanii look-a-like) which I bought because of your vids has 2 spikes this year and I'm over the moon. Many regards!

    First time watching your segment Matthew and makes me want to run off to collector’s corner and buy an orchid! They are beautiful. Do you keep them all inside and when you say I don’t let them dry out in Melbourne how often do you water, every day in summer?

    • @helloplantlovers
      @helloplantlovers  Рік тому

      Thanks for finding me! Some of these are outside all year, some half half and some 100% inside. Depends. If you have time to watch the care videos about each one you'll get the full details. Watering depends on your conditions. There are no hard and fast rules - except don't over water! Have a look at my playlists and there's general care for various orchid types and in those you'll find more detailed care instructions. Good luck!

    I’ve yet to make it to Collector’s Corner but it’s certainly on my list.
    Thank you for sharing your Autumn blooms. Not much of my collection is atm. I have several Phals in spike and heaps of active growth across a number of genre, so I’m just happily observing the activity.

    I love Goodale Moir, it is difficult to find these days and I don't understand why, it is a really nice primary hybrid with large, attractive blooms.
    Seeing your victoria-reginae almost makes me want to try one again but I know it just won't grow here.
    Your yellow Oncidium appears to be Tiger Crow. I'd have to see the bulbs to say for sure, but it absolutely is a dead ringer in the blooms.
