This song proves why " Van is the Man "
It's simple. As Van says elsewhere, "DJ.....I just want to hear some rhythm and blues music,,, on the radio."
Daisy Jones & The Six introduced me to this masterpiece. Don't know why I never heard it before.
LMAO. Van Fan forever, actually met Jackie Wilson playing a club in Raleigh NC when I was 14. So I'm with ya.... never heard this at 65 rock years young?!
Or the dexys midnight runners cover
There was music made before 2002
It's sooooo great ! Gets me dancing !!!
IM HERE FOR THE SAME REASON
How many people these days even know who Jackie Wilson was? He was one of the all time greats.
Lonely teardrops
Jackie Wilson was unreal. 50 yrs old, gone way too soon
@@billb5690 Along with Marvin Gaye the same year.
1963: Ike & Tina Turner and the IkeTurner Band.....and every MoTown group. Jackie Wilson shoulda been dancin' with Tina, but they had.....dancin' with her.
How many people know this recording was the first take.
Peaked at No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1972. Deserved to be a much bigger hit than it originally was. Sad, honestly.
My favorite Van Morrison song -- bar none . . .
Great great song. The musicians in the room that day it was recorded definitely captured lightning in a bottle
God I love the song
First take, too!
There were On a Mission from God
I never get tired of this song.
Utter genius
Great song! This shit gets CRANKED when I driving around in my Jeep!!!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Just saw VM in Philly - He (and his terrific band) sang this song in their best high spirits and the clock was magically turned back to '72.
this song is timeless.
When you cross the street make my goes BOOM BOOM! That is Love!!
My absolute favorite VM song, I start every Saturday morning with this song at full volume.
Anyway, We saw him and his band two years ago in Chicago and this is the one song he DID NOT do! So while walking back to the parking garage with other concert goers we started humming it and by the time we got off the elevator the entire crowd was singing along. :-)
Lucky:3
Awesome tribute to Jackie 💃🎶
My friend John said he picked this song for me.. He was so sweet... He passed on 10/16/21 and I miss him so.
So sorry for your loss. May he Rest in Peace
💔❤🩹💫
This is my happy song! Love it so much!
Mom, now you're in Heaven, I can smile because you are in Heaven!! I know you hear Van the Man and Jackie Wilson 's with you!! Joey and I love ❤️ & miss you eternally!! Regina Isabella!!
This should have been a Top 10 hit.
Nothing negative about what I said. God love you
Van the man. A living legend.
One of Van's best, covered by Dexys Midnight Runners in late 1982 in the UK, where it made the top 5 in the Singles Chart.
No-one celebrates Jackie Wilson’ impact on the music scene like Van & Them.
Ito coin a phrase , ‘I’m in heaven’ still, decades later.
Ooh, what music, what times.
Jane Russell
Jackie what talent!! Live Jackie love Van!!! Go guys❤❤❤
Everyone who loves music knows Jackie
He had so many great songs yet so many people have never heard his name especially the younger generation. This was real music unlike the shit of today. I’d rather get a prostate exam and listen to the music they have today
He is like a Bob Dylan that can actually sings.
👏👏👏
WOW Where are todays really talented musicians? I just don't know!
When I heard this in the movie theater, watching "Belfast", what a jolt of nostalgia it gave me!
This gives me much happy.
This was the first take guys. They started a second take and stopped because they realized the first one was perfect
Morrison's band had only rehearsed the song once before the session, which led to the parts being rearranged in the studio. Despite the initial problems, the band recorded it in one take, as Messenger recalls: "At the end [we] all stood in silence: had [we] got it in one go? Van called for another take, but stopped a few bars in because he felt it wasn’t working. ‘I think we’ve got it.’"[3] Overdubs were added later on by saxophonists Schroer and Rolf "Boots" Houston.[1] Writer Peter Wrench commented that "What does seem clear, though, is that ‘Jackie Wilson’ is a genuine example of a one-take wonder which came together extraordinarily quickly as a shared creation in the moment”
Taken directly from “Saint Dominic’s Flashback”
He was always One The One...
😮
Some musicans/bands are capable of doing that. Steely Dan - NOT. Miles Davis - KInd of Blue - absolutely
Great to know.
What a song. Epic.
Morrison and the band virtually got me through life. All time favorite. ❤️
The Band? Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Garth ,Et all.?Or Van's backing Band. Both Good.
@@johncook7281 I think they mean Van's backing band
@@PisceanGardener oh
virtually?
His music still helps get thru
brilliant, sweet, thrilling, fresh and kicking. A shot of pure energy. Van the man, ladies and gentlemen
The perfect groove.
I'm in heaven when you sing Van. Christ is risen...thank you for your Love and music.
I think the muted guitar in "I'm in Heaven" is so enthrolling, and so innovating at the time, it carried the whole band and it took its members to a zen place where, everytime the guitarrist hit it, all of them would think "hell...that's so rare but so cool...weve got something here..." and so it worked as a reference spot through the whole tune and took them home safe and SOUND.
PS/. I f*cking love EVERY Van's tune bassline.
Thanks for the kudos. I was the guitar player on this track. Feb. 1972. The band and Van got it on take ONE. No fixes. Just an added sax by Jack Shroer and then the mix was printed right after the performance. Nothing to fix. We were smiling like mad, happy.
THANKS TO YOU, SIR!!!. ONE TAKE!!!. UNHEARD OF NOWADAYS!!!. AN HONOUR TO TALK TO A LEGEND!!!. @@dougieslats3156
Pure genius
Full ofVOOM! Van & Them really push a vocal anthem for Jackie Wilson’s musical contributions of the period.
Also, love this, in remembrance of my Dad, who always referred to me as ‘petite’.
Jane Russell
I love when you did caravan in the last dance
Really love it! “ you make my heart go boom, boom, boom, yep, there was a few of those boys….
Very good.
Luv Van Morrison music! SIDE NOTE...Dick Clark from American Bandstand said the Van Morrison was the most difficult interview on
A/B. His answers were short and sweet. Didn’t really elaborate.
Found in a Sears cut-out bin in 1977, knew it was too good to not know.
Just looking at tribute song lists, this one never comes up,one of the best ever IMO!
Dad loved this song he played it over and over in 1992. Good memories
Damn, I remember when this was a NEW song, not a classic and had air play-lots of it.

Got to see him live at an outdoor show in Reno, opening for Dylan, in 1999. What an honor that was. True legend.
Queens Logic.... always brings me here ..and just like Mantegn, I cruised Queens boulevard in a El Dorado Convertible, waving to people I know😂...True Story!😮
Big play in Vancouver, then nothing. Never knew the words, but loved the happy, easy sound.
Boom,Boom,Boom...Hot Damn
I love this song. I first heard it on a Dexy's Midnight Runner album and its been my favourite ever since
I love Van Morrison and Saint Dominic!❤❤❤❤❤
My granddaughter, 25, was married in Italy this summer, 51 from Houston and around the US flew over to attend. One of the songs she had played after the wedding was "Brown Eyed Girl". It was a magical 3 day event in Amalfi coast.
Reminds me of falling in love
This and Moondance are my favourite songs by Van the man
His cover of Your Cheating Heart is great too
Love this album, thank you! 💖💛💚

Beautiful music and song
I'm sorry, can someone explain to me why this legendary song hasn't cracked even a quarter million views in five years??
Sharing this around immediately.
Views mean nothing....certainly does not mean not appreciated...lots don't give thumbs up , or down
Still hasnt
One take. One take. If I needed a Recessional for my memorial service, this would do....
[Van scatting]
Jackie Wilson said
It was "Reet-Petite"
Kind of love you got
Knock me off my feet
Let it all hang out
Oh, let it all hang out
And you know
I'm so wired up
Don't need no coffee in my cup
Let it all hang out
Let it all hang out
Watch this
[Pre-Chorus]Ding-a-ling-a-ling-ding
Do-da-do-da-doo
[Chorus]I'm in heaven When you smile
And when you walk Across the room
You make my heart go
Boom, boom, boom
Baby, let it all hang out
And every time
You look that way
Honey child, you make my day
Let it all hang out
Like the man said
Let it all hang out
Watch this
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
[Van scatting to conclusion]
