Nice video but your outlet pipe should run horizontal into the chimeny. I switched my fischer to this setup and draft and efficiency increased.
Great videos!
Excellent stuff bro
Glad you enjoyed it
Where can I get the thermostat air control you have on the door of your stove?
Unless you live somewhere where there is a shortage of wood I do not see a reason for secondary burn. Mine is terrible. It can’t be run without the blower on unless the wood has been seasoned for a year. I want to know where I can drill a hole to bypass. Even though you burn half the wood I know your house isn’t as warm as it would be with a stove that sounds like a turbo on a truck when you open the damper. Basically show me how I can bypass my secondary burn so I can burn more 2 stone oil through my saw and keep the long johns off at -30.
Secondary burn gives you more heat out of your wood because you are burning most of the wood gasses to heat your stove instead of pumping them out the chimney. Less fire wood equals less work. You need well seasoned dry wood or it does not work, because water vapor out of the wood doesn't burn. see Dry vs green firewood ua-cam.com/video/D42LdYMFiK8/v-deo.html You also need to have a air tight wood stove or it doesn't work.
nice video.. thanks for the upload.. thumbs up bud...
can we see the 2nd burn system???
Richard Downer I'm working on a video that explains the theory and application of secondary burn on that stove. It includes air mixtures and controls. Also draft and fuel requirements, and other simple modification I have done to that stove. Its taking a little longer then I intended, but good content is worth it. Subscribe and you'll get a notification when its posted. Thanks for watching and we'll see ya next time.
How did you drill though the cast iron without cracking it or shattering it???
Step drill works well at slow speed along with oil to lube the cut. :)
What's the name of the background music at the start of the video?
would you have a vid on the biuld of this project
+Pitz ikata Sorry but I don't built it years ago
What mods did you do to the sides of the stove?
Sides of the stove have cooling fins to radiate more heat out of the stove. Inside I removed the fire brick from the sides only for more heat transfer to the wall of the stove. The shield at the bottom causes draft along the outside of the stove and protects the floor from getting to hot.
what does the inside of the pipe look like does it run threw and have holes in it!
Background noise messing audio.
Great video. Where did you buy the bi-metal draft thermostat? Thanks!
steven curtis I bought 2 of them at my local hardware store about 25 years ago. Try ebay.
they dont make them any more
Do you have a parts list and maybe some simple instructions to retrofit this to any wood stove?
If you turn a standard wood stove way down it doesn't get very hot and it makes a lot of creosote. So to make the secondary process work, I'm adding air to the top of the fire box so that the unburnt gases ignite in the fire box, creating more heat and not creosote. The temperature of the stove needs to be over 450 degrees F for the process to even start working. As far as a away to retrofit any wood stove, Create a way to direct 1/2 to 3/4 of you intake air flow to the top of the fire box. Make it adjustable so you can dial it in for your wood stove set up. When the inside of your stove starts turning light brown instead of black and shiny, you know you have it burning nice and lean. That's the basic concept and it works.
P.S. Well dried seasoned wood is a must! Green or wet wood doesn't work well because too many of the BTU s are used to convert the water to steam and the steam impedes the wood gas from igniting in the top of the fire box.
Thanks for watching and we'll see ya next time.
3 billion people in the world use wood daily to cook all there meals.....and are in desperate need for high efficiency cook stoves with multiple burners or wide flat griddle surface, producing minimal smoke using less wood....they do not need it for heating as much as cooking due to there general warmer climate....It's frustrating to see so many innovative wood burning systems designed primarily for heating...with little cooking surface if any.....IS THERE ANYONE WHO KNOWS OF A ROCKET STYLE COOK STOVE WITH A LARGE COOKING SURFACE EITHER GRIDDLE AND OR MULTI BURNERS....PLEASE DIRECT ME...
Those 3 billion should be makeing charcoal and cooking with that
YES,,,type in Aprovecho,,,,I think you will like,,,
You're overfireing the stove
