  • What draws Goans to Abbé Faria, the 18th-century Luso-Goan Catholic priest who is considered the “father of hypnotism”? These activists, writers, artists, and psychiatrists are united in the passionate quest to get “Goa’s son” his due. The fervent efforts to preserve Abbé Faria’s legacy embody a tiny, spirited struggle for recognition of a unique syncretic culture in contemporary India. They represent an attempt to define Goa itself - its history, identity, and place in the world.

Cheers to you for bringing up the Father of Hypnosis a Goan origin famous in Europe and Russia.
His birthday is celebrated in Russia every year but not in Goa.
Someone commented that Kadamba dynasty....they not Goan for your History lesson.
Anyway, with regret I dont see India will ever recognise a Christian Goan like Abade Faria and we who appreciate his work must teach the young generations to look up into his work.

Goa's original legacy lies with kadamb dynasty and temples

That is because you believe in glorification of kings.

We only have a few rulers who ruled for the people. Most of them lived for themselves without considering their subjects. Some of them were simply cruel and were exploiting their subjects. Simply see how many wives and concubines some of these rulers had.

@@Cool-bs9pq It was about the legacy not the dynasty, just because we were colonised by the west doesn't mean we take their legacy

@@amodpataskar5673Only the glorification and romanticisation of the invaders' culture is the signature of this channel.
An episode on terrible Goan inquisition by the colonial invaders is never going be here.

Abbe Faria was born in Goa. Even being a Catholic priest, he was involved in Pinto Revolt against the portugese rule in Goa. Can't we claim his legacy? If not us who else will?
