“The Streets Of San Francisco” (1972-1977) still comes to the minds of many, when thinking of great (detective) series. Starring Karl Malden and Michael Douglas as two cops investigating and solving crimes around San Francisco, the Quinn Martin series would be remembered well, earning rightfully its place as an important piece of TV-history. The music was written, as usual, by a bunch of composers through the years but nobody seemed to shape the tone as much as Patrick Williams (not related to John Williams), who, not only has written the fantastic and also catchy main theme but the incidental music of many episodes as well, with a lot of funky and contemporary colors. Enjoy!
My family and I never missed this show. I'm 66 now and lately have been thinking about all the tv shows that have vanished over the years. There were many good shows. Loved the music for many of them.
What an incredible intro to the lst show. The drums certainly do create the mood w/the pickup to the beat as played in the intro. l can dig the tension of the drum tom toms & following riffs that create this mood, hands down to the man who envisioned this opus, thankyou Mr. Williams you've done us all good.
Wow! I had forgotten how wonderful the music was in this show! Loved watching “The Streets of San Francisco”. Thank you, Soundtrack Fred! You continue to give us such wonderful suites! 😊
Oh, man. That howling banshee guitar at 0:15 just might be my favorite sound on Earth (along with the original Mammoth Car from Speed Racer.) This music gives me goosebumps all the way to my core. Thanks for posting this wonderful TSOSF suite.
The Intro blasted my teenage mind out, what a montage. Only matched by Hawaii 5-0 and UFO. It was a good time for intros, the 60s and 70s ... sigh. ;-)
When i was a kid (9-12 yrs) and this was shown here in germany the first time (70s) it was a great thing at the school yard to talk about the last episode next day, everyone loved this, the tough Douglas (nobody knows that he was the son of famous Kirk) and the wise old Malden... Great series, same as Starsky and Hutch...when every boy wants to hunt bad guys in a cool car and the girls fell in love to Heller, Starsky and Hutch (for every taste there was one), other boys later prefers Charlies Angels, of course (i loved Kate Jackson). Then these stuff was that cool, but today its hard to watch and hard to believe to be catched by that. Kojak was cool, ok, but New York was too dirty, dark and grey. We want summer and Palms, of course.
Genau!!! same here.......My Papa let me watch all Episodes . we are Musicians, my dad arranged Horns for his bands etc. so this Track really spoke to us. and yes next day maybe auk dem Schulhof we talked Streets of San Francisco hahaha
"The Streets Of San Francisco." A Quinn Martin Production. Starring: Karl Malden. Also Starring: Michael Douglas. With Guest Stars: Tonight's Episode: Introduced by Hank Simms.
This is excellent, I would love to hear the same idea, themes/incidental music from the cannon TV series..... And even starsky and hutch...... The good old days!
This series, mod squad, rookies, room 222,get Chrisite love, love boat, shaft, police woman, starsky& hutch, chips had that funky music tunes no one tried before.
Karl Malden was also known in the 1970s as the spokesman for American Express, which had a line of credit cards. In 1967, he played "Key Case Milne" a hotel pickpocket who cursed credit cards, in the movie HOTEL.
The cool cars, action and funky music , i still watch all the old cop shows!! No modern tv will ever top the cool vibe these shows had
I used to like "The Rockford Files", that's got an awesome theme tune as well, and "Starsky and Hutch". But my favourite is "Colombo".
@@FrankJohns-js9xn i still watch all that stuff🤘, i don',t have a torino, but have something close.
I was a small kid when this came out. Holy cow, what memories! THANK YOU for this funky gift, my friend!

@@mikeyoung9810 Good news is you can get hold of those jewels for a buck or two. You never have to to watch "modern" productions anymore. ;-)
TV themes were so funky back in the '70s!
Coz they used jazz musicians and classical composers to write the scores.
REAL music
The music was better than the actual shows in my view.
Simon Locke is also great theme.✌️🌞🥁

Truly a Great show with excellent actors and stories and wonderful scoring to compliment as well...
"The Streets..." was one of my favourite events in TV - in Germany in the 70ies.
Ah the memories, being allowed to stay up to watch it 😄

There is a limited 2 CD release with 40 odd tracks available. Awesome stuff, bought them last year
Great stuff. Patrick Williams was a brilliant artist. I think he also the theme music for The Magician (Bill Bixby).
Yes you are correct and thanks for the info ! Now I found another great song. ua-cam.com/video/fYrRqpeZKz8/v-deo.html

I was five, when I started to watch this show, my parents allowed to me, I will be 14 in 1 month, and I am still watching it
Loved all the '70's police/crime/action shows - but the music on Streets had to be the tops.
Inspectors 8-1 responding!
Rien que pour la musique...ou " Hawai police d'Etat "...je regardais !...
Rock on Pat. Also try the "How Sweet it Is" soundtrack - not funky, frothy.lively tuneful and massive orchestral arrangements.............

Sadly, San Francisco is too filthy dirty to ever film a re-make of this show on location there.
Themes were so cool and funky 😊
