it's not only about tweking already existing samples, i mean you can do it, but don't expect too get much out of it, since it limits you quite a lot, imo it is always better to make your own melodies or chords, using drum samples or presets is fine tho.

well, with that stuff out of the way, you can really focus on creativity. and you can add "difficulty" as much as you like. you don't HAVE to prefab everything... me for example make my own kicks with an analog synthesizer, and I spend hours and hours tweaking them. not because I have to, because I have packs as well, with great kicks, arguably better then mine even. nevertheless, I choose to do that.

The funny thing is that it is too much work compared to just learn the basic triads and draw them yourself on the piano roll imo. Many don't know that they don't really have to find each key's midi chord file separately for basic triads, but just move them to the key they want to use on the roll.

I have the plugin, and honestly I am satisfied with it.. I almost only use "frost", "drip" and "lo-fi" tho, but still I think it adds some kind of texture to the melody that I personnally like. I also usually spend a minute finding the best settings for what I am working with. Is it worth the current 45$ deal ? In my opinion, absolutely.
I would also usually use an EQ over it to cut some frequencies and to make it smoother. But I also made some pretty dirty melodies with it.

The thing here is that most DAWS include chord progressions and scales by their own wich leads to anyone to make ideas and there is no need to an extra tool and worst of it, they are trying to sell us something that it was implemented many many years ago. For example FL Studio includes a chord arranger , CUBASE and others that other people mentions, Captain Chords, Scale 2.

I then thought that programming them was cheating, so I learned to play the drums for real. I then thought that using purchased drums was cheating, so I learned to make my own. I then thought that using pre-made skins was cheating, so I killed a goat and skinned it. I then thought that was cheating too, so I grew my own goat from a baby goat. So it's just bar-for-bar chords with no velocity, rhythm or melody? Do music producers struggle to make decent sounding chord progressions that much? And if you want inspiration/starting points, surely there's a better chord pack with more expression than this? I don't get it tbh, the music theory in those progressions would take barely any time to learn and make yourself. Plus the hardest part (rhythm and feel) is just left to the producer anyway? Not gonna lie, the entire music production sphere on UA-cam seems to be afraid to call out companies that put out garbage content. Be that sample libraries or garbage ass chord packs. In my opinion, Unison deserves to get eviscerated by everyone who reviews them and knows the slightest thing about music theory - if you know better, you owe it to others to protect them from this company. What Unison is doing to new producers who don't know music theory, is tainting the well and leaving bad first experiences. They are the definition of a predatory company. I have the pack...bought it a long time ago on sale and it also came with drum loops. I find it useful if I want to get something going quickly. If you understand theory, you will know what the numbers mean. If you stay within the key, the chords will work and you can use your ear to figure out if they sound good. If you are a beginner, you can use it with a good book on music theory to understand how chords and chord progressions work, the Nashville number system, and to learn how to manipulate the raw chords by adding extensions, changing rhythm and velocity, and creating inversions.
These days, I much prefer using Scaler. It is a much better and deeper tool for that kind of thing. I can play chords just fine, but tools like that can help you train your ear and increase your chord vocabulary. Otherwise, you may just rely on muscle memory and create music with the same chords all of the time. Most pop and dance music uses some variation of 1-4-5-6 these days. Boring!

Thank you for doing this video to expose those who are misleading people to make cash. Shop around for sounds you like. Mr. Sine sir you are a decent human being. Explaining clearly differences of the files and sub files. Another is training to master music costing thousands of dollars, so be very careful they promise you, the out come that is so attractive. One promotor actually tampered with my information, about plug-ins. False goals.the promises are so enticing, don't fall to regret, later. Give the plug-ins, and everything related, some time. Best wishers to all those who want to make a difference musically. Thanks Jon shinning a light about this phase.

You are supposed to build your own progressions with the individual cords that you drag in.

Why stop at chord progressions? Why not just let people drag and drop entire finished songs?! Learning how to play instruments is so pretentious...yuck. Take THAT music theory!

It's not nonsense, but it's close. If it's part of a learning experience for someone studying, then it could be of value. But what I would say is: you'd be better served by trying to *recreate* the midi chord pack. The only thing it will do for you is provide chord progressions. Instead, read a book or a web page and recreate the pack on your hard drive. Then you'll never need to refer to it!

Great channel. It's been nice to watch your studio building and I've learned a lot especially from room acoustics. Also you made pretty clear that expensive outboard gear can be replaced with VST's etc. Maybe not exactly the same but results are really close to eachother. Nowdays skills are only thing that matters (+some luck, perseverance and hard work) if someone wants to break trough. At least if that person has born in EU where investing basic music gear to start producing, making beats etc is not impossible. Almost in every household there is laptop what can be used to start and get hooked to making music for a lifetime. Thank you for passing your knowledge and information. I wish you keep on making this daily log a long time.

I'm sick of this ad, If you don't know music theory don't produce music, it's just easy as is. and it's so easy to learn music theory.. give your time and practice.

It's honestly just a stupid product. I am currently a drummer and I've been a musician since I was little. I remember asking my dad who is a professional musician if I can buy this. He simply told me that if I don't learn music theory, I'm not a real musician. I totally agree with him. Everyone who uses a midi chord pack isn't a real musician. You aren't making your own melodies. Learn music theory and notes and make your own. It might take a lot of time and effort to learn it, but once you got it you can make your own melodies and chord progressions by yourself without a stupid midi chord pack. Trust me, you will feel 100% more prouder when you have actually made something from scratch rather than just taking a melody and putting a basic 2/4 beat over it and some 808's.

The aggressive advertising for such a simple product always made me question the quality of this sample pack. Good sample packs would be recommended by users in all those production groups on Facebook.

ngl this is kinda sad. just make ur own music for god sake. literally it would still be bad if you bought chord progressions for an orchestral theme and tweaked it, but in hip hop/pop beats the chord progression is everything. you just add drums (easy), add a bass (easy) and maybe make a melody on top, (still pretty easy considering you know a thing or two about a piano). like damn man just make ur own sound
