I loved this list and would like to add that dressing "too young" is also very frumpy (and looks foolish). Also, wearing athleisure wear outside of the gym. Always enjoy a laugh with you, many thanks for keeping things light.
Leggings for exercise. I do have a pair that I use long tunics and High boots in the winter. Leggings should be considered like a pair of tights and when you have tights you cover up.
I have a cute pair that is faux leather that I wear with tunic tops and boots in the winter. They are pretty cute-but athletic wear in public is just a no for me.
I've always only worn them if they cover my butt. I have several longer nice hoodies and long sweaters that I wear with leggings. Never thin see through Leggings though. I like the nice thicker ones. I feel like people also think the tighter they the better they look. They have to FIT. not too big or too small. It's a thin line to walk, lol.
Same here in Canada....ppl go out in their PJs!! Not sure how we got to this point. Growing up my parents always told us to look clean, dressed nicely and presentable...we were actually yelled at if we left the house looking sloppy!!
Dammmm, I'm wearing capri pants now and I wore them yesterday. Ok fine, I've worn them almost every day since mid May when it turned hot. Forced working at home turned me frumpy. I may as well get some thin shiny leggings to wear under over-ripped jeans with a gaposis blouse with super large jewelry. Frédérique you make me laugh so much when you crack yourself up. Cleeeeck! Cheers! ❤
Agree, I can’t understand it when I see adults wearing Disney clothing, or anything like that! Sometimes it’s difficult to find pyjamas that HAVEN’T got ridiculous childish prints all over them in certain shops.
Oh God, I HATE stuff like this. I very rarely even put my toddler in shirts with stuff printed on them. We have some mickey shirts and ummmm....and I think that's it. Wait, there are a couple sports team prints. I just don't like them.
I agree with the capri assessment. I live in Phoenix, so when I’m wanting something lighter than pants, there are plenty of midi length dress/skirt options that are casual but more chic than capris, in my opinion.
A few years ago I bought a new “vintage style” knit. The colour was beautiful, it should have suited me, but I couldn’t work out why I looked frumpy in it. My daughter told me “if you are vintage, you can’t wear vintage”! Haha - she was so right!
Hi Mademoiselle Frederique! Laughed again a lot here... thank you so much for this!!!.....regarding the wearing of jewellery or accessories "less is more"...... about wearing too tight clothes, one shouldn't wear too loose either........more French styling tips, please ....... best regards!
“I shouldn’t say shitty” 🤣💀 I love your channel so much because you’re such a chic person and listening to your videos reminds me of talking to my French friend I used to eat dinner with a lot when I was younger. He was from Brittany and lived in Paris for a while and loved to call out things/people/places (like a restaurant or a hotel) shitty when they did things in poor taste.
Oh! Haha...I thought she was saying Chic-ey...'I shouldn't say Chic-ey' and I'm like WHA?? How could 'chic-ey' be a slip-of- the-tongue for frumpy? But, no...'shitty'... well, it all makes sense now😅
Yes to your list! I also appreciate the ability to wear SOME things if they really suit us. I tend to collect well made, classic handbags so I’m going to keep them. I do make sure they work with what I am wearing 😉. It’s good to be warned OR reminded about frumpiness...
Thanks, Frederique for excellent review. Agree! Recently evaluated and purged various items from wardrobe that simply do not work for me at this point in life. Capri and cropped pants were critically reviewed. Several were donated to Goodwill. Keeping several in classic cuts, basic colors, b/w, navy, and tan as I will be living part of the year in a desert climate. Fortunately, am able to carry-off this style due height and overall body proportion. I do not wear shorts of any sort, so cropped and capri styles make sense for me. Otherwise, wear long cut classic style pants/slacks. Will continue to evaluate this.
I forgot to say: tie-dye and embellishments (beads, rhinestones). I just ordered what I thought was a cute t-shirt, but it had rhinestone trim on the pocket that I couldn’t see in the online image, no way! Fortunately it came off easily, it was loosely hand-stitched.
Almost all UA-cam style gurus miss a very important area where women look older - that is the hair! I see women in their 30's 40's and 50's with long hair past their waist - I wonder why they are hanging on to long hair? Instead of making them look younger - they look so much older. I keep telling them to cut their hair.
I'm very short and wear capris that are snug and hit just below my knee. I always have to shorten them, but feel good with the right classy top. But I'm with you on those that hit at the widest part of the calf. Long or short, choose one. Leggings: yes, camel toe: NO WAY. So my leggings are always paired with a longer shirt or sweater, and love high black boots in winter. Most of the time in winter I wear ponte pants, snug enough to be chic yet the fabric is thick enough to hold it's shape and never show the dreaded CT!
Some women wear capris because they don't like the hot weather alternative of skirts or shorts. Depending on how your legs or knees age, you may actually look better in a good quality pair of capris (with the right top & shoes, of course).
You make me laugh soooo much - “disco ball”. I think that Capri pants are the most aging look, except for wide leg, mid calf pants. I think they can look chic with a nice white blouse, dressy flats or a heeled sandal IF they are black. By the way, what size is your Chanel bag? I love that size.
I really enjoy your videos!!!! Thank you!! Great tips for classy, all around great style. Anytime anywhere, any country… love the “click, click, click… don’t stop…
Hello Frederique! I completely agree with your view on jewellery. I'm petite, so big so-called 'Statement' pieces and chunky beads would swamp me. I'm more attracted to tiny pieces that can be combined - they still look delicate and not over-done - in yellow gold with diamonds or pale coloured gemstones. They look stylish and quirky, but still delicate. I love your posts - such good sense and style! Thank you!
Hello Beautiful Lady, Miss Frederique! I loved this presentation!! I'm 53 so in the 1980s, my fashion "go-to" inspirations were Princess Diana (feminine, colorful, elegant) and the preppy look which never goes out of style. Like you, I like shoulder pads at times but more in the 1940s fashion, not the huge 1980s type. To be honest, I've never liked ripped jeans. My "edgy" look includes skinny jeans, a black T-shirt and a leather jacket. I loved your comments on jewelry! I'm now enjoying simple pendants and bracelets like never before. I've always loved rings so that will never change. As far as handbags go, I wish I could afford a Hermes "Kelly Bag." That's my favorite handbag next to Channel. Ahhhhh! Love to you, sweet friend, from Northern California! :) PS: Your laugh is contagious!!! I loved the end to this presentation!! Stay healthy :)
I appreciate your opinions for the most part; however, when vanity comes before good financial sense, I simply cannot comply due to a fixed income. I wear glasses. Period. There is nothing wrong with that. Also, I use only one bag (neutral charcoal gray) until it is too worn or damaged. Don't worry - I will never wear leggings unless I'm practicing ballet.
I only use leggings to keep my legs warm if I wear a skirt or a dress and go outside in cold weather. Worn in stead of trousers I would almost expect someone to think I had forgotten to put on a skirt or a dress.
Capri pants look OK on me (for our long summers here!) if they are jeans style and cropped mid or just under knee at the thinner part of the leg (and I am petite, 5' 3 and slim). I have a pair with a bit ruching at the bottom, and they look a bit like long, slim shorts. I hate my knees so don't really like showing them! If they are baggy at the bottom and mid-calf then no, they are not flattering. They should taper. Leg pockets also don't help. There are some nice smart cargo pants around that look good, between casual and smart, but they are a little different from the '90's version we all thought was cool (if we did). I don't discount anything because it's the style. You need to try it on and see. I think buying online is resulting in many ill-fitting clothes, though I understand why people do it. Anyway, when my summer trousers start to wear out, I crop them and taper them and make these cargo shorts. They are a half-way house between unflattering capris and cycling shorts, so very useful. If you do it. make sure you can get your foot through the bottom width. Too tight anything doesn't look flattering on any but the youngest and slimmest. It's not comfortable either, like being in a sausage skin.
I like them, too. I live in Jamaica and it's way too hot for long pants. Luckily I have very slim legs and I think they look good. I have them in all patterns and colours.
Love your list even though I’ll keep custom jewellery and sequins on my “yes I can “ list. Wrinkled clothes, also a no-no for me, unless it’s linen. I still love leggings with a chunky sweater for a relaxed look and my leather leggings too. Greetings from France!
Agree! However, I recently purchased a classic black sequin jacket that fit my petite silhouette perfectly. I wore it it with a classic pair of tailored jeans to the party, my birthday celebration, and it was a big hit! All my girlfriends wanted to know where, when, how did I score this jacket. My secret shopping place! Your tips are so spot on, and I appreciate how you always qualify, no rules are in stone. Take these tips and make them your own. Thank you from beautiful southern Italy.
Capris make my short legs look shorter. But, at my age & body condition shorts are out. So I wear black or navy capris with sandals. Not as stumpy looking as with sneakers & socks! I wear what I like, as long as it flatters my figure and matches, I don't care. That's part of creating "your own style." I notice also that a lot of what I loved as a teen is back now (1970s), and I'm enjoying some of those things within reason. I sport a short shag and it's very cute! Not trying to look like a teen, just enjoying the nostalgia. Women look at my hair (you that look when they're trying to figure out what you did so they can copy it, not the pity or catty look. PS when I see a lady rocking some accessory or whatever I tell them they look great! Why not?)
No woman should wear capris or pants that hit mid-calf. It isn't flattering on anyone. Ripped jeans aren't classy and they really are no longer in style. Same with leggings. Wear classic styles that make you look great. The word "class" is the root of classic and who doesn't want to look classy.
Capri pants are frumpy! 69 feel 49 and do have an Italian designer sequined jacket that I wear with jeans and a t shirt in the evenings occasionally - guilty! I do have a few expensive leather bags that I've had for years and don't intend to get rid of them guilty! Leggings frumpy! Aggresive u're not lol! Laughed thro'out this fabulous video Thanx Frederique
Hello Frederique. Thank you for making another video. Love your look in this video. You show so.much courage at talking about things that are so hard to talk about with others, but these are things that must be said. I see these ladies at Walmart all the time. So sad. I try not to be judgmental but all I can do is look away. XOXO
Again, depends on your figure and how you wear sequins or leggings I agree about 'too much embellishment and glitter'. I find cheaper Italian clothes often go over board on the unnecessary embellishments and would look much better without! A bugbear of mine! Some more expensive metallics and sequinny clothes are very beautiful but you must pay for them and let the fabric speak, have a simple, more figure hugging style. Separates that go together and you can wear apart are good. Leggings need to be in a good fabric, that holds you in a bit. There are some good ones around for not much money. Got my favourite black pair in Lidl in a thicker polyester (I know!), spandex, and they hold their shape and are very slimming. They look best with an oversize, cashmere or wool sweater, that covers the derriere and top of thighs. Again keep the silhouette long and simple. Thinner ones are good for nightwear and wearing under jeans when it is cold as I hate tights on my feet and under trousers. I'd always buy a leather handbag. Metallics also go with many things, I don't mean shiny metallics as much as toned down. Another tip is have good quality shoes, they last better and soft leather wears to the shape of your foot. I mostly agree with you, we all make mistakes and have to learn from them. I find a gathered (slightly puffed) but fitted shoulder line does not exagerrate broader shoulders but looks more modern. I hear more and more that designer brands are selling awful clothes with cheap fabrics for high prices. Remember your brooch? Anyway, go for quality, look at the finish. There is nothing more frumpy for me than cheap fabric that will make a could be pretty outfit just look awful, and after a few washes, it's a rag. Polly Ester looking at you, and it comes often at a high price these days. If people were more fussy about quality, they would not be able to rip us off.Not all good quality clothes come with a high price tag, some expensive ones are badly made. Wait for sales and offers and you will get better clothes, or hunt around and buy secondhand, often hardly worn or not worn. Thank you for the good tips and you look lovely in this video.
I couldn't agree more. I like nice fitting thicker Leggings with longer shirts. I have 2 pairs of jeans with a few rhinestones on the back pockets. Not too gaudy or noticeable. I hate shirts with stuff printed on the. I like things on the simpler plainer side. Even for my toddler. Most of his shirts are plain, striped, or Plaid with the exception of mickey mouse. He (we) loves mickey and they actually do make some better quality mickey apparel now.
I might end up ruffling some feathers here but I totally agree on all the points you raised, especially leggings. I would LOVE to see those ugly things banned. No matter how young a girl is, how slender she may be, leggings are such a let down and make people look lazy and unkempt. Cropped or capri pants aren't flattering on anyone and yet they're very popular. I like to wear either full length trousers or some jeans and for summer, sone ankle grazers with espadrilles or a Chanel style ballerina with 1cm heel. Great video as always dear Frederique. Bisous.🥰😘
Love your videos! I have a French mother- she is 86 years young now and from Besançon and watches with me sometimes. My father American. I grew up in the states. My mother has always been elegant, simple and beautiful. Less is more she has always said. Anyhow, much love from myself and my mother, Hughettte! 💖
I HATE leggings and I cannot wait till they go out of style- among other things! I think they’re fine if you’re cleaning your house or what have you, but every time I see a lady wearing them, I see ‘the people of Walmart’ . I know that is harsh, and it is just my opinion. I just hate how casual we have become. Talking with my mom: she remembers growing up and dressing to the nines just to go shopping downtown on a Saturday with my grandmother. Oh, I was born in the wrong era! I have a little boy and I am trying to instill in him the importance of presenting yourself well, his character being more important obviously. Anyway, all of that to say I hate leggings and lounge wear in public. I love your channel Fredrique!
You might want to reconsider them. If the hem hits you mid calf, it can cause your legs to look stumpy. Because your calf is the widest part of your leg, it emphasizes them. It is best to do either a knee length walking short or an ankle length pant.
I would seriously collapse of heat exhaustion if I couldn’t wear capris especially at work. Not everyone works in an office or someplace where they can dress up. I’m a nurse, in a nursing home, and we aren’t supposed to wear uniforms. There is minimal air conditioning and I need to wear cooler clothes. Like above I try to find capris that don’t hit the widest part of my calf, but that’s sometime difficult as I need petite pants and pockets are a must. I may not look the most fashionable but I try to look pulled together.
Why don’t you wear a skirt? Or dress? Or long but thin trousers? Also why don’t you wear shorts? Not very short one but a knee length shorts looks good even on older bodies.
Finally I caught your video when you’ve just posted! I’m so happyyyyy😃😃😃 Frédérique I still wear cut off shorts 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ can you do a video on beach wear pleaaassseee
I agree with your list too! I wouldn’t say that I follow your “rules” on clothing, but I like to compare my thought to yours. Love the French perspective!
I wear a lot of black and use jewellery to "spice" it up. I have a lot of curated pieces which are not too plastic or bling bling and this is my signature look. I love glasses as well but cannot own too many: it is not the price of frames that make them expensive but the incredible high prices of my prescription lenses...
So agree with your list of ten. Only have one black legging that is a looser fit. Capri pants way too popular among the wiser ladies here in the US! You may add camouflage to this list and denim jackets.
@@Vertigo_T Lets be fair, we wiser women are very hard on ourselves. Where I live, most of the women look great compared to the men they are with, and that gets more extreme with age. A man will wear frumpy clothes even if his woman has dressed up and looks elegant, but he'll look in the mirror and see God's gift to women 20 years younger. I used to like it when men wore linen suits in summer in soft natural colours with an open neck shirt and a straw hat. That wasn't so long ago, and some older Italians still do, but it is rare now. The younger ones like flashy clothes and jogger style bottoms (Ugghh) and in Italy the suit style is shorter tight jackets with cropped trousers (not flattering on most). Classy is classy. Fashion changes but elegance is always stable.
Lol! You had me grinning like a fool at the end. Love it. And THANK-YOU re: the ripped jeans and leggings. I wear leggings at home to workout with and I have worn them under very long tops or short dresses to feel covered up, but never ever as pants. I'll leave that to the 20year olds. I love your style and your advice...thanks for the laughs too!
Your videos are my favorite on UA-cam! I'm 81 years old, but am often taken to be in my 50's due to a positive, youthful attitude and lifestyle. Vegetarianism and 2-3 hours every single day (not negotiable) of working out in my home gym, are keeping me in shape and young. I just recently took up violin lessons, also make clothes and play the piano. I believe that good hobbies make a wonderful impact on ones life. I love your attitude, style, and wonderful gift of laughter. Here's a Big Thumbs Up! Keep on doing great videos!!
Hello Frederick, I agree with you and would like to add..... older women wearing belly shirts outside of yoga class.ove you videos Thanks Vanessa Xoxox
Is Classy a thing anymore? Especially in the US. Its the style to look like a Ho - everything is hanging out...like someone wants to see it. Love your videos...I agree with many of your opinions...and you have validated that I am not crazy.
Frumpy, dumpy, lumpy, bumpy, grumpy all rather sound like what they are, don't they? LOL. It is sad to say that most Capri pants worn by older women tend to look like hand-me-downs or at the least not at all intentional, because they are not styled well on relatively well-kept bodies with Caprese accessories to complete the composition, the picture. Glittery makes outfits look like costumes, not couture. Ripped is just adolescent, not even young womanly. I must say that bursting out of garments is not appealing on men or women. I think that embellished clothes of any type are adolescent as well in that they are not worn by people who have to live a real life. I do not want you sitting on my sofa at home or my conference room chairs if your silly clothes are going to tear the damask upholstery or damage the wood or leather because you could not dress simply and use accessories to accent a classic garment. Ah, the '90s! So long ago and we were so young then. I detest puffy sleeves and embellishments like flounces and bows at the shoulders. However, I like a good shoulder pad inside the garment, if one has weak or slouchy shoulders. Though, they should not look like they were made by the designer of the Sydney Opera House or the costumer of The Flying Nun. One need not look like one is yearning to take flight while trying to give one's body shape proportion and add strength of line through shoulder pads. Dame Edna Everage can wear exotic eyeglass frames or Elton John and both are costumed to perform when they do so. Everyone else should consider face shape, skin tone, eye contours, including brows, while choosing them. Yeah, the carpetbagger look is not good. Don't you think leggings are too often like bikinis at the beach, in that some folks can make them look like a fabulous fashion idea, while most make them look just dreadful, gauche? I like your "click, click, click" and your good humor. You entice us to laugh and learn with you.
Your 10 fashion mistakes are spot on! I own 1 pair of black merino leggings that I wear in the winter under my pants for warmth. Clinton Kelly always said that leggings are not pants! Keep the fashion tips coming. You are a delight!
Looking for a quality shirt with the right size arm holes and tailored with darts helps immensely with placket gaps. Cheap shirts also have fewer buttons, with larger spaces between them, contributing to gapping, even if the shirt is otherwise the correct size.
I agree totally. I’d add pastel pants and sneakers. Also sweatshirts. I have seen so many older women at the hairdresser having their hair done, but dresses in knit pastel pull-on pants and old sneakers. Why?
It's a beautiful quality when a woman can laugh at herself. I do it all the time. Life is too short to be so serious, we need to laugh more often. Thanks for all the fashion advise, and Continue to be yourself!!
I clicked clicked a long time ago. You are adorable. I loved it all. My husband hates leggings out in public. I do not wear in public. I also don't like embellishments on jeans. You are good and so funny.
You made me laugh with this one, Frederique 😆 Thanks for taking a moderate stance in the leggings issue. They aren’t as bad as many people make them out to be, and can feel like your only hope for people who have certain body types. Shopping for pants is my own personal hell.
Frederique, I love your humour, hilarity and advice ... you rock 🤣 Thank you so much for the videos. ❤️ I wish you all the best and greetings from the Czech republic :)
I know you don’t love leggings. I don’t even love them. But I personally would love for you to do a “how to style leggings in 5 ways” I think YOU could make them classy. 🤔 🌸💕
Very helpful information and I appreciate your explanation. Where are your earrings from? They look fabulous. Loving the necklace too. Would greatly appreciate a link. Thank you!
Frumpy=mal fagotée, très démodé, qqchose une veille portait pour qquelques sens! I like leggings but I only wear them when it is chilly with my little boots and a very nice top with perhaps a nice vest (gilet) or jacket. I think leggings look great with a comfortable pair of knee high boots. I agree-no sequins. I have one pair of black ripped jeans from White House Black Market, une boutique ici aux Étas de vêtements haut de gamme mais les ouvertures sont subtiles. Mmm, this boutiques sells jeans with a very pretty appliqué. It’s pretty. There are sloppy looking capris, je sais ce que vous voulez dire and then there are yes, sexy ones. I have sexy ones because they fit close to my body. They were by a Canadian designer Peter Nygard. I live in Florida alors ça marche très bien ici les capris aux mois de printemps et d’été. Bonne vidéo et j’èspére que ça ne vous dérange pas que j’incorpore un peu de français à mes commentaires. À la prochaine!
You hit the nail on the head with this video. I could not believe that I loved to wear ripped jeans. My ex-husband actually loved them and asked me if he could have them. I was so happy to get him out of my home that I gave them to him!! I laugh so much at that incident… even now I’m laughing!! I love the photos in this video! I will rewatch this video it is so terrific!! Love, love, love you! ❤️ Suzy
I’m a new subscriber. You’re hilarious! I agree with everything. My leggings vote…only around the house or for a neighborhood walk. I’m 53 and I personally they think are immature and inappropriate at my age.
I loved this list and would like to add that dressing "too young" is also very frumpy (and looks foolish). Also, wearing athleisure wear outside of the gym. Always enjoy a laugh with you, many thanks for keeping things light.
I am so tired of women wearing athletic wear everywhere!
No woman should ever use a rucksack style bag as a handbag. Eeeww that is my pet hate along with Capri pants!
Agreed!
Heading outside now to set all my capris on fire ...
Hahahah can I come?
Me too - my camouflage capris are done!
😅👍😂😂😂
Leggings for exercise. I do have a pair that I use long tunics and High boots in the winter. Leggings should be considered like a pair of tights and when you have tights you cover up.

I love the leggings and boots look. I wasn't sure if I'm too old for ir. I'm 66 but young at heart.
This is a must watch...especially for the last 30 seconds! 😆

LOL I wore short capris (hits just under my knee) all summer but not to go out in!
Novelty prints like fabrics with little doggies all over!

A few years ago I bought a new “vintage style” knit. The colour was beautiful, it should have suited me, but I couldn’t work out why I looked frumpy in it. My daughter told me “if you are vintage, you can’t wear vintage”! Haha - she was so right!

Oh...what a great point! I recently bought a vintage dress & my husband hated it.
Hm. That's the kind of thing my daughters would say. Too bad the clothes do not develop wisdom like the people do.
I have read somewhere that one should never wear a trend worn in the past. Then it was trendy, now it is foolish.

Szia Zsófi, Hungarian girls go with french style, yeah. :)
I'm very short and wear capris that are snug and hit just below my knee. I always have to shorten them, but feel good with the right classy top. But I'm with you on those that hit at the widest part of the calf. Long or short, choose one.

Merci 🤩
You make me laugh soooo much - “disco ball”. I think that Capri pants are the most aging look, except for wide leg, mid calf pants. I think they can look chic with a nice white blouse, dressy flats or a heeled sandal IF they are black.
By the way, what size is your Chanel bag? I love that size.
The wide leg crop is very tough to pull off.
@@maryokeefe5351 it can be if you are petite. I think with tailoring & a wedge sander, it works on my “vertically challenged” friends.
which one the mini flap bag? or the boy?
@@ms.frederique I am not sure...it was in your “neutrals” or “accessories” videos, I think😜
I thrifted a beautiful saddle brown leather handbag for $8.00. Also, a designer Cole Hahn leather hobo bag for Fall.
You’re the best. You always make me happy. Thank you❤️❤️❤️🌺🌺🌺
❤️❤️❤️

Lol I love your personality! The last part when you said Click and made yourself laugh was so funny!!!
😝
I. Just. Love. You!! You are the cutest!! Love the ending of this video
You so lovely thank you 😊
Hello Frederique! Thank you!
Fabulous thank you lovely xxxx
😆 You’re so much fun! Classiness all the way, agree with your thoughts. 💗you!
So lovely of you; thank you 😊
Hello Beautiful Lady, Miss Frederique!
Thank you 😊
Princess Diana's wardrobe 💭💭💭💭 is a dream
You always make me laugh and very good vibes from your video and yes I agree with on all 10 notions ♥️🍸🍁
thank you lovely xxx
I really enjoy your videos and your personality! It makes me happy just watching😊 thank you🤗
You so lovely thank you 😊
I appreciate your opinions for the most part; however, when vanity comes before good financial sense, I simply cannot comply due to a fixed income.
Say no to le frumpy 🚫
Greetings from France!
merci xxx
😜
MsFrederique you crack me up 😂. Thanks for another great video……I agree with you on all of them!
So lovely of you; thank you 😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you for including Capri pants on this list! They are everywhere in the shops and, to me, they scream, “I give up!”
thank you lovely xxx
Click click click, click click click haha ha ha. You r the best ❤❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Yay! Thank you for this! I love these videos from you ❤️
You so lovely thank you 😊
Capris make my short legs look shorter. Why not?)
You are the best entertainer on UA-cam and the wisest woman. Thank you dear and greetings from Austria again! ❤️
So sweet thank you 🙏
No woman should wear capris or pants that hit mid-calf. It isn't flattering on anyone. Ripped jeans aren't classy and they really are no longer in style. Same with leggings. Wear classic styles that make you look great. The word "class" is the root of classic and who doesn't want to look classy.
Thank you for sharing and liking xx
Capri pants are frumpy!
69 feel 49 and do have an Italian designer sequined jacket that I wear with jeans and a t shirt in the evenings occasionally - guilty!
I do have a few expensive leather bags that I've had for years and don't intend to get rid of them guilty! Leggings frumpy! Aggresive u're not lol! Laughed thro'out this fabulous video
Thanx Frederique
😘
One of her best in the humour department!
Hello Frederique. Thank you for making another video. Love your look in this video. You show so.much courage at talking about things that are so hard to talk about with others, but these are things that must be said. I see these ladies at Walmart all the time. So sad. I try not to be judgmental but all I can do is look away. XOXO
So lovely of you; thank you 😊
Love your videos! And all the humor and laughter. AND, I agree with every point in this video. Except, I love fun reading glasses! :)
Thank you for your kind message xxx
Hi from Turkey Your are really cute and beautiful lady I like watching your videos
You are darling, Frederique! Completely agree on this list especially the glitter which is so so tacky!
So lovely of you; thank you 😊
Enjoy your channel! Would you feel comfortable showing how you organize your closet? I have clicked clicked to your channel.
Coming soon
I might end up ruffling some feathers here but I totally agree on all the points you raised, especially leggings. I would LOVE to see those ugly things banned. No matter how young a girl is, how slender she may be, leggings are such a let down and make people look lazy and unkempt.
Cropped or capri pants aren't flattering on anyone and yet they're very popular. I like to wear either full length trousers or some jeans and for summer, sone ankle grazers with espadrilles or a Chanel style ballerina with 1cm heel. Great video as always dear Frederique. Bisous.🥰😘
Bisous Mila x
I would love for you to do a segment on formal attire. Going to be a mother of the bride next Sept.
great idea
Love your videos! I have a French mother- she is 86 years young now and from Besançon and watches with me sometimes. My father American. I grew up in the states. My mother has always been elegant, simple and beautiful. Less is more she has always said. Anyhow, much love from myself and my mother, Hughettte! 💖
Love you back xx
You’re adorable… uh la la “CLICK I scared myself”,
I just love you. As a woman of a certain age, I think your advice is spot on. Classy, not tacky, ladies!
thank you lovely xxx
I agree! For me capris and loud jewelry are THE WORST offenders.
I love your channel Fredrique!
thank you lovely xxx
Capri/cropped pants is what we mature ladies wear instead of shorts in hot weather.
I agree, and close fitting capris do not damage your "line" and they are a good replacement for shorts.
I live in the desert so usually wear a skort or capris when going out, I feel more comfortable covered this way.
Tunics over leggings are a less revealing and bum covering option over leggings.
Finally I caught your video when you’ve just posted! I’m so happyyyyy😃😃😃 Frédérique I still wear cut off shorts 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ can you do a video on beach wear pleaaassseee
Will do soon thank you x
Yaayyy!!! Thank you and I can’t wait for the video, so I can look classy at the beach this winter! (I’m in Dubai, so winter is beach time😅)
I agree with your list
too! I wouldn’t say that I follow your “rules” on clothing, but I like to compare my thought to yours.
Love the French perspective!
I wear a lot of black and use jewellery to "spice" it up. I have a lot of curated pieces which are not too plastic or bling bling and this is my signature look. I love glasses as well but cannot own too many: it is not the price of frames that make them expensive but the incredible high prices of my prescription lenses...
true x
So agree with your list of ten. Only have one black legging that is a looser fit. Capri pants way too popular among the wiser ladies here in the US! You may add camouflage to this list and denim jackets.
Capri pants are a Karens first choice. Those meddling middle age women always wear them 😝😂
Lol
I love your style and your advice...thanks for the laughs too!
thank you lovely xxx
You are so beautifully infectious. I look forward to all your videos. Thank you for making me smile
thank you lovely xxx
I bought a few things you recommended on Amazon and love them. I've been getting comments about how good I look.
Thanks for your ideas and thoughts.
You are so welcome!
😍😍💖💖💖👍
Your videos are my favorite on UA-cam! I'm 81 years old, but am often taken to be in my 50's due to a positive, youthful attitude and lifestyle. Vegetarianism and 2-3 hours every single day (not negotiable) of working out in my home gym, are keeping me in shape and young. I just recently took up violin lessons, also make clothes and play the piano. I believe that good hobbies make a wonderful impact on ones life. I love your attitude, style, and wonderful gift of laughter. Here's a Big Thumbs Up! Keep on doing great videos!!
thank you lovely xxx
Hello Frederick,
I agree with you and would like to add..... older women wearing belly shirts outside of yoga class.ove you videos
Thanks Vanessa
Xoxox
thank you lovely xxx
I always enjoy watching your videos. Especially ribbed jeans... Its horrible n frumpy ... 😚😚😚
Thank you 😊
100 % correct. For the ripped jeans I will never like them. Why should I buy destroyed trousers ? Something is wrong with this trend.
Thank you lovely, have a fabulous day xxx
Is Classy a thing anymore? Especially in the US. Its the style to look like a Ho - everything is hanging out...like someone wants to see it.
Love your videos...I agree with many of your opinions...and you have validated that I am not crazy.
Thank you for your kind message xxx
I’m always saying to people “leggings are not pants! Stop it!” And stop wearing white underwear, it shows through a lot- buy flesh tone.
lol
Thank you for your kind message xxx
Looking for a quality shirt with the right size arm holes and tailored with darts helps immensely with placket gaps. Cheap shirts also have fewer buttons, with larger spaces between them, contributing to gapping, even if the shirt is otherwise the correct size.
Thank you for sharing and liking xx
Thank you .You are an inspiration.
Also add big prints, sure way to say Grandma.
Loved the way you scared yourself and laughed! While your videos are really informative, it's your personality that makes them so much fun to watch. 💖
thank you lovely xxx
I totally agree!
I agree totally. I’d add pastel pants and sneakers. Also sweatshirts. I have seen so many older women at the hairdresser having their hair done, but dresses in knit pastel pull-on pants and old sneakers. Why?
lol
It's a beautiful quality when a woman can laugh at herself. I do it all the time. Life is too short to be so serious, we need to laugh more often. Thanks for all the fashion advise, and Continue to be yourself!!
Thank you for your kind message xxx
I clicked clicked a long time ago. You are adorable. I loved it all. My husband hates leggings out in public. I do not wear in public. I also don't like embellishments on jeans. You are good and so funny.
Fabulous thank you lovely xxxx
You made me laugh with this one, Frederique 😆 Thanks for taking a moderate stance in the leggings issue. They aren’t as bad as many people make them out to be, and can feel like your only hope for people who have certain body types. Shopping for pants is my own personal hell.
thank you you need to know what is your body type and then you can shop the perfect pair of pants for you xxx
Frederique, I love your humour, hilarity and advice ... you rock 🤣 Thank you so much for the videos. ❤️ I wish you all the best and greetings from the Czech republic :)
thank you so much lovely xxxx
I know you don’t love leggings.
I don’t even love them.
But I personally would love for you to do a “how to style leggings in 5 ways”
I think YOU could make them classy. 🤔
🌸💕
Can’t say I’ve done anything on list! Thank goodness 😅 Great video
Very helpful information and I appreciate your explanation. Where are your earrings from? They look fabulous. Loving the necklace too. Would greatly appreciate a link. Thank you!
Please check my Amazon shop: amazon.com/shop/frederiquebros thx
À la prochaine!
lol merci xxxx
You hit the nail on the head with this video. I could not believe that I loved to wear ripped jeans. My ex-husband actually loved them and asked me if he could have them. I was so happy to get him out of my home that I gave them to him!! I laugh so much at that incident… even now I’m laughing!! I love the photos in this video!
I will rewatch this video it is so terrific!! Love, love, love you! ❤️ Suzy
So lovely of you; thank you 😊
This video with the no no pics made me laugh:) n i love a good laugh anyday. Thanks:)
anytime xxxx
Jeans with rip holes are embarrassing imho. Just nope.
You’re so great, Frederique! I agree with Capris 100% - but I’m scared that cargo pants are coming back in.
Thank you so much for watching xxx
Love being subscribed to you! You are the best! Aging with humor and grace. Thanks for your good work!
So lovely of you; thank you 😊
I like you, you’re funny.😆
I’m a new subscriber. You’re hilarious! I agree with everything. My leggings vote…only around the house or for a neighborhood walk. I’m 53 and I personally they think are immature and inappropriate at my age.
fabulous and thank you for subbing Jenni xxx
