    In episode 17 of our series with Mark Ripley (260RIPS) on S&C TV, Mark kicks things off with a play at some steel target shooting with the Mauser M12... offering advice on stretching out your own hunting distance, we look at the importance of achieving a perfect zero if your plan is to take long range shots.
    Taking a break from his usual foxing responsibilities, Mark heads to a piece of land where the landowner has a rabbit issue... as we all know, rabbits and horses do not mix, so it's time to thin the numbers out a little. What could be more fun than a spot of rabbiting with a .22lr!?
    This month's show is light hearted, full of play, and a little bit different from the usual foxing extravaganza... enjoy!

    First 15 mins , got myself worked up, thought you were going to shoot some rabbits with the .243 at 500m+
    What an imagination I have.

      Would I do such a thing?! 😁
      Unfortunately the farmer here likes to keep the rabbits around for some rimfire sport 👍

    Nice to see a bit of variation and some of the traditional 260 stuff creep back into the vids.
    Top fella; wrap up warm... it's getting cold out.

    Tie something to the target that will help indicate the wind when you increase distance

    May I put this forward ,a 243 producers a flattervtrajectory with a 58gr bullet in V-max extremely flat shooting out to 240-260 yards , yet quite striking out to 300yards.
    But load it with an 80gr bullet and it will reach out to 500 yards hence the 243 has a real advantage over a 223 producing a flatter trajectory, because you do not need to estimate range , simply cover your quarry with the scopes Cross hairs then release the shot , plus the 243 ammo can be pushed out to dizzy rangers of 630- 650 yards when fitted with a heavier barrel set-up , would you sure guest that's correct, great video Cheers 🥂

    • @260rips
      @260rips 2 роки тому +1

      Yes the 58s are great foxing bullets but are more effected by wind drift so there’s a few trade offs but yes they are a great bullet weight 👍

    Hi Mark, great video. you mentioned "truing up the drop" can you just explain that a bit? Are you slowing velocity, or how are you doing that?

    I'm getting all excited bout 243 for fox....but...I can shoot 90gn in 270...so hard to rationalise getting a 243 from "necessity".
    Longer range and less wind drift capability become important when foxing after a while as just elusive foxes remain...
    Pleasure to watch..
    As per usual.
    Thanks..

    Top class video mark.you should set up shooting classes, you would make a fortune. How do you find the element helix compared to the nexus you also use.is it worth the gulf of a difference in price as you could nearly get 2 helix scopes for the price of a nexus.
    Richie from Ireland.

    Alway enjoy watching your videos. I have a CZ452 American also, find it a bit ammo fussy, and the ammo it likes in hollow point is no longer available, so I’m looking for alternatives. What are you using in yours?

    When I try and centre my scope after fitting I’m lucky if I get a hit on the board let alone the target at 60 feet.

    Is the pbir mini a new product to the market?

    • @260rips
      @260rips 2 роки тому

      It’s been around a little while, not as bright as the pbir- x but has a nice dimmer on it and ideal for scopes that don’t need too much ir 👍
