PLEASE NOTE: we didn't 'Out' the captain of the yacht in this video as some have suggested. His name has appeared in multiple news articles when the yacht was under suspicion and ultimately arrested in 2022. He also conducted an interview with the New York Times in 2022. How absolutely embarassing for the lawyer/law firm who sent you the follow-up demand. Remind me NOT to use that firm for my legal work.
I once got some extortion letters from Getty Images and later a law firm in Amsterdam. I knew the few little pictures I used were free for usage and had at the time no copyright on them.
But they persisted so one day I was in Amsterdam and stepped into their office with friend and demanded one of the partners meeting us.
They refused so,we simply stepped into an office where two partners had a small meeting. I believe we were very clear what would happen next if they would continue harrasing me as Amsterdam can be a dangerous city. It was very convincing.
The problem is those crooks are abusing the law to commit these extortion claims and nobody acts on it as its hard to prove the game they play is often, not always, manipulated. A reason why I hate certain lawyers.

We, the viewers who are happily sitting in the free world, do treasure our right to freedom of speech. It’s too bad that some entities such as search engines, became so popular for advertising dollars that the power of our newspapers and magazines to support investigative journalism has been lost. At the same time, it seems that the kids now at the helm of google and UA-cam don’t have much for a spine.

I'm not surprised by High turnover on Clive Palmer's yacht . We in Oz ,now , know him pretty well . He is full of ideas , promises, etc , yes, full of lots shit.
I think it's a case of: 'the pilot light was on, but nobody was home'.
Many, many years ago I knew a young man who got into some trouble with the police. The matter was reported in the local newspaper, however they spelt his first name incorrectly. Well his mother who was not sober often, thought that it was not right for the newspaper to have spelled his name incorrectly so she rang the paper and demanded that they corrected the spelling, which they did the next day. The outcome being that anyone that missed the article the first time it was printed had a another chance to read it the following day. I think this is a similar case and now more people have the opportunity to hear the full story about “Putin’s Yacht”. Just my thoughts.😂😂😂

I was moored “stern to” in Valletta in front of that fort for three months. It was closed, but I befriended the man in charge of its renovation and was given a private tour. He was a child during the German bombing raids during WWII. He told me a story of his breaking free from his mothers grip as she dragged him hurriedly into the underground bomb shelters. He wanted to see the German and British planes dog fighting. It was very dangerous because the Germans commonly strafed the civilians running to the shelters. He also took me into those dark, dank shelters which were no more than narrow short tunnels carved into the soft stone. That was in 2006 and he was 71 years old. Quite a man. By the way, the people of Malta, love Pink Floyd! The juke boxes in the bars are full of their music and it’s always playing.
This is how law firms work. They do not care if they conduct lawfull claims but treathening is a tool to make money.
The same as the biggest bribery or extortion letters from Getty Images who tresthen anyone who has a copy of a picture on their website. Even if the photographer didn't Mark the pictures with copyrights.
Often they find the photographer with their software and offer him royalties if he marks his work with a copyright, next they extort everyone using even a thumbnail dize of that image.

Ever since theses social media organisations are made accountable for content that they publish, they like to be seen to be in control, and just ban anything people complain about, in fear of prosecution or worse, further legislation. Just goes to show that the yacht in question is ‘toxic’ perhaps he should find another command if he is that sensitive to being associated with the situation, rather than slinking around in the shadows?

You can even read an interview by him and even his mother (in a separate interview) about the yacht.

I was in the US Navy, and the captain was responsible for everything on the ship. If the ship has problems the captain will most likely be retired quickly

Navalny’s video with the crew list un-blurred is still out there (very quick search, found through the Sun's website). Captain Guy Bennett-Pearce and his law firm have uphill battle if he is really trying distant himself from Putters yacht. This really looks like they are just going after those that they can hit financially and hope for a payday.

I always laugh at the timelines given by firms, but I am also a barrister, so I have a little more freedom than most people to laugh at legal dicta, we definitely use timelines to cow people into doing something just because they are nervous.

You know before the Russian invasion of Ukraine I had no interest at all in yachting. But know I like to tune in everyday to see what action is happening on the high seas. I find the discussions of international maritime law interesting. It has it's own history and traditions.

The mining business has the business side, government monetary and regulatory factors, and of course the environmental realities( along with the dream team cult). To balance all of this you need to have honesty in the business and government. I doubt that we could find a passing grade among the current governments and justice departments in our current world. It appears that you could always find regulators willing to target anyone that they wish, at any given time.

The matter before us (you) should not be considered what's right and wrong, legal or not. If this matter is tested in court, you will have spent an incredible amount of time and money. If you win, you might recover some money. But, you will never recover the time. In any case you're relying on the trial court to follow the law. Speaking as a US citizen, the trial courts do whatever they want. A former US president is on the record stating, the problem with the courts today is that they don't follow the law. If the matter is appealed, it will most likely will be sent back to the trial court for "further proceedings". Now that the trial court judge has been embarrassed by showing he/she has no idea what they're doing, you will have the same outcome. The appeal court won't hear the case a second time.
I doubt you're in the position to make the same financial considerations to the court (and others) as the moving party. Remember, money is the root of all evil. The courts and the attorneys are in this only for the money. Take the easy way out. Make the necessary video corrections and forget it.

My advice on dealing with the letter from the attorneys is to drop the video completely. You may or may not be right about freedom.of speech. What I am sure is it isnt worth the fight unless you have very deep pockets. Almost all disputes are won by the side with the most money. In the real world, principle means very little.
