My two cents: I am a huge fan of the Meris LVX Delay, so I had to give this one a try too. With its excellent hall and room algorithms, it certainly lives up to the hype, although I was even more impressed with the LVX. Maybe that's because I was already biased when trying the Mercury X. It might have been easily the other way around if I had tried the LVX later.
The Mercury X doesn't come cheap, but thanks to its flexibility, that effect pedal can replace several other effect unit in your equipment park. However, that flexibility comes at a price. If you like to sculpt sound with effect pedals, you have to enjoy diving into submenus. But as Meris has already released a software editor for the LVX, I guess we'll see another one for the Mercury X in the near future.
I also have the X and OB-6 and both are top-tier in their categories. Thanks for making this video!
I don't have the LVX (no space for it) - I'm continuing on with the Polymoon. And the X can do basic delay pedal duties and a little more, anyway. Plus it can be a: compressor, limiter, chorus, fuzzbox, and more. An editor would be great. Adjusting the basics in Studio One via MIDI is easy enough, but not digging through all the menus and functions.
I was able to get a new Mercury X for about $525 at Perfect Circuit in January with one of their discount codes (which has since expired).
jujjj deep dub the second one🎉
Excellent demo - as expected. How complicated is the menu diving? And how would you compare its sound to the top notch VST plugin reverbs (UAD 224, Valhalla, Relab)?
Thanks! Menu diving is ok but I've seen better implementations, tbh. But there's already a good editor for the LVX so I guess we can expect one for the Mercury X, too.
Mercury X (like other Meris products I've had the pleasure to try) is top-notch in terms of sound quality. Comparing it with pro studio plugins, I'd say that these might serve you better, if you're searching for a special sound (e.g. a Quantum -2772 emulation).
