    Even when the farm is short on staff, Josh decides to fire up the camera & make a video all day. What a creator.
    Was funny when you filled your boot up with water! Hope you got it sorted. 👍🏼

    A little jump in the morning will get most of us going 😀.
    For a young dog Gus is really good with the calves. I also notice he's quite partial to a bit of calf poo!

    Those calves in the pen that you dehorned a calf. If you take the gates of the front and put a ratchet strap on so you can adjust the hght for feeding? Just a thought and it is better the calves rub there heads/necks n the strap than a metal bar.
    Hope this helps.😄

    Great video Josh! Lots of work for the winter. You need a dump wagon to store the dairy barn dung in for a few days so you don't have to make so many trips across the yard. Fortunately, it seems when you guys identify a problem, there is support from the higher ups to do what needs to be done for a permanent solution. Sorry you had a boot full of water and then your face sprayed. Glad you're staying healthy and hopefully the rest of the lads will be back with you soon. Enjoyed the video and seeing Gus running well. Well done!

      Yeah we could do. Problem is it would always be in the way! I'm sure we will figure something out to make it a bit more efficient! Haha! Everyone seemed to enjoy me getting wet! Thanks pal!

    Very clear explanations as I discover your channel and the farm. Looks incredibly tidy, well-equipped. In one of your vids (I have been binge watching), you say it is a research facility/farm. I presume it has a commercial side to it. Surprised you don’t seem to have a large slurry tank👍👍👏

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  2 роки тому

      Thanks Mike! Glad I am explaining things well! We do have a commercial side to it as well. Any animals that are not put into research are reared commercially and also any ground we grow crops on that are not for research are treated commercially.

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  2 роки тому

      Also, we dont really have slurry (apparently), although I think we would benefit from having a pit!

    You should try putting scaffolding tubes across feed barriers for calves perks of them you can adjust them to height you want

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  2 роки тому +1

      Yes! We do have some so could do that. The calves aren’t big enough to reach the floor for feeding yet, just put hurdles up to stop escaping! 👍🏼

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  2 роки тому

      Good question! The tyres on it are nearly ready for changing so we thought we would wear them out over winter and have a new set for the spring when we start field work again! 👍🏼

    Not sure if you keep the electric Plugged in on the straw chopper tractor but we had the same problem with our tractor . The new straw choppers drain the battery that’s what we found on our 6920 with the same chopper

    • @JMFarming
      @JMFarming  2 роки тому

      Ahh right, we do leave it plugged in, but always turn it off. This particular battery has been dodgy for a long while, perhaps this was the final straw?
