  • SpaceX is targeting Thursday, April 11 for a Falcon Heavy launch of the Arabsat-6A satellite from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The primary launch window opens at 6:35 p.m. EDT, or 22:35 UTC, and closes at 8:31 p.m. EDT, or 00:31 UTC on Friday, April 12. The satellite will be deployed approximately 34 minutes after liftoff.
    Following booster separation, Falcon Heavy’s two side boosters will attempt to land at SpaceX’s Landing Zones 1 and 2 (LZ-1 and LZ-2) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Falcon Heavy’s center core will attempt to land on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

    Falcon Heavy Launches are easily the coolest, most inspiring, beautiful and impressive launches humanity have ever and most likely will ever witness. We are so fortunate to get to witness them in our life time during this short period of just a few years. Once Starship/BFR takes over there, FH will be phased out and it's unlikely we'll see another reusable side booster configuration rocket with simulatanous landings ever again. Especially not with the excitement, buzz and finesse of SpaceX's cameras, editing and presentation. Even with the video feed drop outs, that just adds to the anticipation and edge of your seat hype.

      How is this launch a demarcation between what came before, and what will happen after?

    • @iconicfury
      @iconicfury 5 років тому +13

      @@dansv1 Arguably the ability to use Heavy Lift Vehicles with this degree of reliability and reuse-ability, from a purely commercial company could be a demarcation between the post shuttle era and commercial partnership era of NASA. While I'd be inclined to agree that this launch doesn't shake up space exploration as much as Apollo, Sputnik, Skylab, Voyager, the Shuttle Program or the modern Rovers... The full creativity of the human race could never be brought to bare unless companies like SpaceX create competition, and a successful launch of a commercially sold Falcon Heavy is the crowning achievement for SpaceX thus far. This is the most powerful, advanced and capable rocket mankind has ever launched for the purpose of profit.
      Edit: To clarify, I say this degree of reliability because even though it's only the second flight of a Falcon Heavy because the cores are nearly identical to the Falcon 9. Same Merlins, same guidance, same grid fins, etc. The Falcon and it's derivatives are very proven rockets at this point.

      Jacob Willow Yes. I read that too. But SpaceX landed on the drone ship anyhow. They where unfortunately hit by high seas and that did make the rocket fall over after the landing. It seems like they need to anchor it tight fast so it don’t happen again. It is still three landings, that’s the first time 👏🏻wow👏🏻
