This is the real reaction. The performance of just raising the high notes recklessly is just amazing. So people just show surprised expressions to show surprise. However, when people listen to Sohyang's songs, they concentrate and fall into it. Her voice penetrates the heart. It expresses the song not only with voice but also with facial expressions, gestures, and gestures. Sohyang is the best singer
I love seeing vocal coaches on the internet have the same level of passion, excitement, and raw reactions as I do for those who are simply masterful in their craft. 소향의 가장 큰 단점 자기곡으로 국내도 못먹어본거 실력으로만 보면 명반 10집 이상인데 명곡 하나가 없는게 참 아쉬움 다 커버곡들만 있고 그래도 ㅈㄴ 좋다

Met So hyang when i was 7 in the 90s when she was a new gospel singer and been following her since. It's a pleasure that she is being recognized throughout the world
I had discovered Sohyang UA-cam surfing one day and must’ve watched her sing practically everyday since, I couldn’t get enough… watched and rewatched some of her performances like this one.Then having John break it down on techniques and how masterful she is at it finally explained my behavior. He was able to articulate what I couldn’t … we are watching something special. She’s not just singing, it’s much more than that, it’s an experience from the soul. Hard to explain.

Sohyang is a true singer of Korea. No matter what song you sing, you make it your own color. And like a musical, a person who expresses and listens to songs can only be moved.

I love Sohyang and this is my favorite performance. I vividly remember when Simon and Garfunkel released this... I was captivated and played it over and over and over... on my cassette player. But when I heard and saw Sohyang perform it, I felt like I was hearing it for the first time, that I understood it for the first time. I love these kind of singers where it sounds like there is no limit and no force, not a single strained note or sound like if she have reached her max. It just flows out effortless and it sounds like she have even more to give.
More than one person has mentioned that her singing, despite being technically masterful, doesn't strike as being technical but as coming from the heart/soul. So happy you caught that, that was very insightful.

I'll tell you John, the first time I heard So Hyang sing this I knew she was simply the best female singer on the planet. And I cried at least the first dozen times I listened to it. Plus, like you, the hair on my bald head was standing on end! All of So Hyang's performances are astonishing but I think this is the best, or _one of_ the best, performances ever captured on video and audio for posterity. Words really fail to convey what So Hyang has done here.
It is actually very enjoyable to watch the entire TV show this was captured from. Everyone is performing at a very high and professional level ... and then So Hyang comes on the stage and _absolutely crushes_ the competition with this song! Once she sang there was no doubt in anyone's mind who the winner was. And by _several_ country miles, too! 💖😉🎶👌😎🎸🙃
PS Even the competitors stood there with their jaws bouncing off the ground, and a look of wonderment _and_ enthusiasm on their faces! And she had been so modest, humble, unassuming and friendly backstage with the other competitors. But they _knew_ they were in the presence of a _true_ Super Star when she was done. And she looked _absolutely beautiful_ in the dress jacket she was wearing over her dress. What a woman ... and that second vocal run she did, right after the other woman said "Wow!", is the most beautiful and female sound I have ever heard! 😳
Don't worry Todd! You are not alone in losing tears department on this song. The first time cost me 2 big towels completely drenched and soaked. These days I am getting better, but still choking up at some notes when it is too overwhelming 😁

This was a great reaction! I'd love for you to react to Sohyang singing Misty. It's just amazing how controlled her voice is even in the jazz genre.
My second favourite from her. The first is Arirang. I know this one is more complex and masterful, but Arirang has a certain feel to it that hasn't been surpassed by other of her performances yet. It was my first encounter with her too. To be fair, I don't know all of her music. And life has taught her a thing or two, her heart is out there in the songs. Which is equally important as her singing quality to me. I think she's my favourite female singer even if I don't follow her regularly.
There are times when even as a professional, you just let yourself experience the music you hear, beyond the technicalities. That's the point of singing and playing an instrument after all.
My favourite is Dear Love because I cry everytime she sings that song.

Sohyang is very famous among global experts.
In fact, famous American producers and big sponsors persuaded her to recruit Sohyang, but she didn't want her life to be famous and she said that she wants to give her people good music as an ordinary singer as she is now.

I am Korean and she visited my Mom's church in Incheon once and sang many songs. My mom absolutely loved Sohyang's performance, and I blamed myself for missing out church that Sunday.

You are my favorite vocal teacher because you not only know your craft but you explain things so well to non-singers like me. Hundreds of us So Hyang fans want you to listen to her 7 minute masterpiece "Everyone". Try to find the Vimeo with English subtitles- it will so much more emotional if you understand her message. She stated that this was her hardest song to sing due to breath control.
I think you have to react So Hyang - Lean On Me. Its also really really reallyyyy freaking good👍🏻

Do yourself a favor and listen to her in the "Begin Again" tour in south Korea with an assortment of other singer seated. She is Marvelous. A treat to listen too in a casual setting. She kills a couple of Whitney songs, Celine, she does "Ill be there"," I wont give up", "Flashlight", she even raps. Her voice is bullet proof and she can do anything with it. It is a crime that she isnt well known in the states.
