*Probably one of the very few world class thinkers of our modern times, whatever we may think of him or whether we share his views or not, or whatever ! The guy is extremely intelligent and brilliantly articulate, and that alone is absolutely worth every second !... I'd say his particular talent is how articulately and passionately he explains ideas he's learned more so than creating new ideas. I'm not trying to be negative about him or anything, but I think people do confuse intellectual output with the ability to explain and talk about already-thought ideas well. Fry is quite good at the latter.

They won’t suffer from Kruger Donner, they won’t suffer from narcisme, they won’t be gaslighters. They would be true empaths without the human need for acknowledgment. All our lizard- and other primal parts would not have to be part of them or be recogneized for what they are and how they can hurt you, make you hurt yourself or others. Maybe I am overly optimistic but I do see the future bright.
What an interesting thought: since these new beings did not evolve over millenia, they will not carry with them the leftover "bits" of psyche we do - the lizard brain, the deeply-buried instinctual feelings and outlook. Would they be "perfect" beings? Or would they be empathy-less sociopaths?

Although Fry is a well-known atheist and an anticlerical speaker, I think he was referring to God as an idea and a belief that there is someone above us, someone that we should obey absolutely. And you have to admit that he is telling the truth in that regard: People since the middle ages have gradually been less and less occupied with what the God is saying. This is probably how the reporter recieved it, hence his lack of reaction.

Fry brilliant as usual and probably correct, but none of us will be alive to see if he is absolutely correct..

Religion is for people who think they are important as an individual to this universe and want to have the feeling they can influence their own fate.
