Nice work. I love it when players really have their own personalities, and make their own "SIGNATURE" guitars. Both of them are very unique. Gives you your own look and style. VERY COOL.✌
Bought a chibson mostly out of curiosity, it was a mahagony carve top, ebony ,LP 60's. It had issues. The tuners started coming out, being set with masking tape wrapped around the posts as the holes were to big. So I replaced the tunners with Grovers. Then I replaced the pickups with the real thing, ( set of burstbuckers) then the plastics just didn't look right so replaced the pickup rings and pickgaurd with a poker chip. So my original purchase of 250$ plus a 80$ case, I ended up having about 800$ in the whole deal. Now it's not a bad guitar but it's still not a Gibson and that bugs me. I wish I would of found a nice studio or another cheaper model on Reverb and have a nice USA Gibson. Live and learn.
@Dutchmetal666 is right, the jack input is on bottom side on the limited 250 copies original Gibson custom shop version, there is a video on YT where you can see it. I've just received the "almost" same fake a few days ago, and it's a great guitar for less than 400€. There are some differences with yours, on mine Tony Iommi signature is not yellow but white exactly like on the original, bigger than on yours. But the mistake and the thing that makes it special and unique to me is that it's not written in the same way as yours, it's written like on a lefty guitar... and my guitar is right handed like yours ! So I can read it while playing ! I like the 24 frets neck a lot with its 11 Sabbath crosses, and the sound unplugged is absolutely extraordinary, it sounds almost like a 12 strings guitar when playing chords (no idea why) and the sustain is incredible. On mine the Gibson logo is not as close to the edge as on yours, it's more like on the real one. In fact the space between the two top tuners and the edge seems shorter than normal on yours. On mine the only weak point are the 2 fake EMG pickups, I've ordered better quality fakes EMG and if it's not good I'll order real EMG H4. I don't know why they put EMGHZ (H4/H4A) on mine, on the real one there are Gibson's closer to yours but I like the look of the EMG, all black with gold logo, I remember Tony used EMG at a time, but not on this guitar. On mine there is no nut issue and the knobs are correctly placed and I don't mind the standard location of the jack input, anyway on the "USA" T.I. signature version (much "cheaper" than the custom shop) it was like that, but it was a very different guitar, not built the same as the custom shop, a lower range guitar with only 5 or 6 little crosses on the fretboard no binding etc. I also like to mod chinese guitars but honestly on this one I will only replace the pickups for the same in a better quality version (and with 5 wires instead of 2) and a push pull, that's all. I like this guitar very much and the only issue is that as I am a Strat guy I am not used to play SG's and I find the top of the fretboard more difficult to access, it seems much farther than on a Strat, I have to stretch my arm, very disturbing and confusing... ! Greetings from the south of France.
Thank you for the Tony Iommi guitars. So very interesting. South of France. I've always thought it beautiful there. Thanks again from the Southwestern U. S.
@@1fleake Hi, yesterday I measured my T.I. SG guitar and noticed that the scale length is 651 millimeters (center average, from 646 to 656mm exactly), and the overall length of the guitar is 104 cm ! What about yours ? Normally all Gibsons (including 24 frets SGs) have a 628 mm scale, yet I don't know if the original custom T.I. signature followed this rule.
@@1fleake Thanks ! This means it's not the same luthier as yours who built my guitar now in 2024( it took 2 months of wait) and that my T.I. SG is a very special "Fenderized" Gibson SG ! Would you be kind enough to tell me the overall length of yours, mine is 104 cm including rear strap button.
Hey. From the top of the headstock to the bottom of the strap button.......it measures 40 inches / 101.6 cm I doubt the same Luther built these guitars. I have had my guitar for about 6 years. Take care
Several questions. How does the Chibson play as far as intonation, action and feel? Are the stock pickups any count or would an upgrade to Tony Iommi P90s help? Kudos for doing your own thing with them. That ash tray gives me Albert Collins vibes. I got a cheap SRV One replica, after some work, upgraded tuners and threw in some SRV pickups with an extra mid tone circuit. Little upgrades every few months until it played as good as the real deal Fender SRV I tried out as a kid.
Hello Thanks for asking. Out of the box the feel, action and intonation is about what you would expect from a China made guitar. Due to American companies being regulated as to the wood used in guitars.......I have found that American guitars have much better hardware and electronics. China made guitars.........if its not laminated.......has better bodies. But, look closely at the China made guitar.......check the description closely for materials used to build the guitar and ask for extra photos. Eliexpress has an excellent return policy for buyers if your not satisfied. So......yep I would upgrade the hardware and electronics for better playable on most China guitars. Hope this helps
This T.I. guitar is very well made I've just received one, but it's now fitted with low quality fake EMG H4 pickups so I would recommend replacing them. The sound unplugged is absolutely fantastic, see my comment.
Hello Thanks for your comment. The Vibrola was a reproduction from Aliexpress. I gave around $97. An original Gibson Vibrola (used) can cost over $500. I don't think $97 was expensive. Thanks again.
Hello, thanks for the video I was just wondering if the vibrola is big enough to cover the holes from the standard tail piece that you removed from the epiphone. I could not see quite clearly if the vibrola covered it completely or not on the video. I'm thinking about to do the same as you on my Korean made epiphone g400. Cheers
