- Grooming a Morkie | This is a cute Morkie, which is a Maltese Yorkie Mix. The coat is very fine and hard not to leave scissors marks on it.
I used a # 0 Stainless Steel Comb over a #30 Blade for the body work and thighs and scissored the rest and finished with thinners to soften the lines.

This is the BEST cut I have seen so far for morkies. I like the silver in my morkie and not so much the dark color so I grow him out for the silver to cover him. When I first got him the last owner had him shaved and he was so ugly. This is the only video I a have see that actually styles the dog.
I should have watched this before attempting to groom mine today. I think she knew I didn't know what I was doing.

Oh my gosh. I have a Morkie too and she shakes so bad and makes herself vomit when I cut her hair 🙁 she hates it so much. She tries to bite the clippers 😂

Thanks for sharing your video! I adopted a Morkie from the shelter and my clippers weren't working very well so I've been using scissors and all the lines were showing. It's looks like you're using thinning shears like my hairstylist uses on my hair! I need to buy a pair because I love the look it gives. Thanks again!

NDLouque I've been wondering what our Adopted Wilson was, well a Morkie of course! This summers been hard with the foxtails getting stuck in his paws. I love his hair, seems as if more like hair then fur & has the hypoallergenic non dander. The grooming on him is hard since he's very blonde. Are most Morkie's blonde when they get older?

That is a cute cut! I have not found a groomer where I live to make my Morkie cute like this. There has only been one lady that was able to make him look like this dog and she moved :-( I just had mine groomed yesterday and he had zero clean lines. They made him look like a fluff ball. I just tried shaping his face and he moves too much for me. Thanks for posting. I will be taking this video with me for his next appointment. The funniest thing is she was telling me there was a groomer where I live (boonies) but she learned how to groom on youtube lol Maybe that person needs to take some lessons on UA-cam.

Hi, they are called chunkers and excellent on Yorkies and fine coated dogs. They give a nice texture to the coat. amzn.to/2ytPWFB
My Morkie has the same hair and coloring. The groomer shaves her :-( because she says she is too matted. I love her long hair and bell bottom legs. I think I will start brushing her nightly while the hair is super short; just to get her use to it. Do you have any suggestions on the matting issue?
Daily brushing followed by a thorough combing. A 4 to 6 week schedule at the professional groomer can help significantly.

Hi, at least every 6 weeks or earlier.
Is Morkie fur much different than Yorkie hair?
Yes it's different because two different breeds are used for making the Morkie. It may be soft, curl, straight or in-between. It may have a query texture or a mix of both soft and wire with curls which may make groom's difficult.

do morkies shed ther hair?
Some may shed, it depends on the breeding. I have groomed many yorkies that shed quite a bit of hair. Maltese do not shed. Its a 50/50 chance that they may shed but generally they do not shed.
My Rexie in photo has many Maltese features but Yorkie attitude and he does shed tons. I just bought two more Germ Guard pet air cleaners and I have several others in our 3 room condo and finally I am getting relief from allergies/asthma.

I have 3 Morkys. I HATE THE LONG HAIR LOOK SOOOO MUCH. ITS SO UGLY. I keep my little ones short and they look like puppys there so cute its crazy.
