Today I take a look at the Teyun A4 USB audio mixer, also known as the TU04. This is a budget mixer that can be found on all sorts of discount sites like AliExpress, Banggood, and even Wish.com.
Not only does this mixer do all of the things you'd expect, but it also acts as a Bluetooth receiver and can record directly to a USB flash drive (though not both at once). You also have flexible power options for this mixer, since not only can you power it from your computer's USB port, but also using either a USB AC adapter or a rechargeable USB power bank. If you use a power bank and flash drive together you can use this mixer as a cheap field recorder.
As for how well this mixer works, you'll just have to watch the video to find out.

3:57 Honest - thanks for letting us know (y)
this aspect really makes it confusing to search on Aliexpress/Banggood using the serch term "USB mixer"
Yep
But if it has that button in the back it's likely what you're looking for
the xenyx 502 might be considered it's closest competition, it doesn't have usb but then the usb on this seems very limited. i'd be interested to see if they did a 6 or 8 channel version sometime! good review, thanks.
I'm sure they have versions with more channels. Saw them on Amazon.
Great review! Now I feel a little more confident about this mixer (which I just bought last week).
Quick question, though. I host a radio-like podcast where I speak and play music from an iPad. Can I plug in my microphone and my iPad and record both of them on a USB stick? (Also, why do you need an audio file to record on a USB stick?)
It was all sounding great for my use -- until you mentioned that the PC audio track I would be listening to and singing along with would also go back through the output to Cakewalk or Audacity. I need just the mic input to be recorded. But of course I need to hear the PC track as I`m recording... Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Unfortunately you're going to encounter that issue with most mixers under $300, including more respected brands like Behringer. There is a way to pull it off using a cheap $20 or so secondary mixer though.
ua-cam.com/video/ICb805fpfJ4/v-deo.html
Thank you Cly for this in-depth review. Although I just purchased a Pyle 4 channel mixture, I watched your video to the end. Would it be possible to review the 4 channel USB Pyle mixer as you did A4?
i just got one of these for $20 and im staring at my Behringer u-m2 like whyyyyy did i buy you.
Bought one under the brand Drembo from wish. Purchased the M6, received the M4. Took 6 weeks. They did refund entire amount no questions ask and didn’t have to return it. Great success!
One thing that stuck out to me, and correct me if I’m wrong, but everything transferred via usb to pc is mono. Even the 3/4 stereo ch mixes down to one mono track. Tried recording bohemian rhapsody via the rca inputs via usb Into audacity. The JieLi br17 2(stereo) input ch records two identical mono samples. Galileo, Galileo no pan, no separation.
This is so helpful! I just purchase this mixer and so excited to use it!
I get this today on Wish for $0.50 USD 🤣
i saw that but it was late so i didnt order it, kinda sad
I know its 2 years later but did it show up at all?
Awesome review! Can I record 2 separate channels in my DAW using this? (Bm-800 and guitar). Thanks!
same question. up!
I was really (happily ) surprised by my version of this mixer...
Mine has FM channels for, I assume, a radio mic..
May I know the brand, model and price? Thanks
Can this mixer use as karaoke player and how to connect to tv?thanks
For anyone that clicked on this video because you bought the Muslady version of this mixer with the microSD slot, I'm pleased to announce that a review of that model will be coming soon. I just need to finish testing it first.
Also, if you are looking for a mixer that will let you hear your mic and PC audio at the same time while only recording your mic, check out my review of the Phenyx Pro PTX-10. ua-cam.com/video/ao9egPWAj4Q/v-deo.html
Bro.. still waiting.
Muslady... please -- it has FM (for no good reason) and I'm having trouble with the connection from the mixer to the PC --- the recording becomes robotic both with audacity and the common computer recorder.---- What I'm trying now is to just connect the PC to the main outputs-- hopefully they work
I had issues with audio where my voice would sound normal then robotic and static and then normal again.
I bought this mixer (actually the TU04) a couple of years ago and never did use it... I just stuck it in a drawer. I just got it out today and couldn't really tell how to use it (I am not an audiophile as you can tell), Glad I found your review, it was very helpful. Thanks!
does anyone know if this mixer MAIN OUT has UNBALANCED or BALANCED jacks or both...
Any chance you will do a review on the Teyun A6 mixer? I just ordered one myself for $75 CAD as my first foray into "pro" audio. There isn't much info on it yet and would love to see what you think.
Thank you for the excellent review! I'd LOVE to see you review the other one that u mentioned, and compare them. btw what was the other similar mixer called?? I wonder how they compare to the Muslady SM-66 that they sell on Amazon for quite a bit more $
This was awesome!! Thanks so much for such amazing content. I really hope your channel grows a lot, as you deserve it!
Thanks. 😁
I was originally afraid of posting this video because it's so long (it's meant to replace the user manual), but now it's one of my fastest growing videos. Here's hoping it brings my channel along with it. 😆
@@ClyFaker Definitely was a great idea to post! It was good information!!
I think that too
Fantastic! Thank-you very much for the detailed review of the A4 Mixer, just recently purchased. The information available before about this specific product was extremely limited. If you happen to have a more detailed manual it would be greatly appreciated to obtain it. Also if there are any more tips in regards to using product as well.
Hi may I know if it is great to record for a podcast ? I have windows 10
You make me subscribed good review. 👍
Hey can it be used as external audio interface for recording guitar and vocals? If yes hows the latency?
This is my question as well, it's the reason I bought it and if not I'm gonna try and return it
@@Theogvineofthedead any updates?
@@SeanLaMontagne yes thanks for the reminder, it does work as an audio interface, it's simple to use and the latency is barely existant, if there is any. It seems to work really well for the price, plus it is built better than I expected. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to get the audio playback from my recordings on my daw or any audio from my pc to output through the headphone port built into the mixer. However you can just plug your headphones into the computer and direct the audio out to them. So far so good, I actually ended up getting a tascam audio interface on Craigslist for like 40 bucks because it was taking so long to show up and I would say they are very comparable to one another.
Setup was easy and the English translation is awful on the box and manual (they got the word quality wrong and spelled it quanlity) and I found that hilarious. Any other questions and I'd be happy to help.
@@Theogvineofthedead hey thanks for the information!!
hows the sound quality? now that you are using it, what you suggest buying this or putting some extra bucks for an audio interface?
@@ronakjain2021 it sounded good to me, I am at work atm on break but when I get home tonight I will record some audio from it on my guitar and microphone, upload it to SoundCloud and send the link out for an example.
If you should buy it is another thing entirely, if it were available in store or online in America at the price point I would have zero hesitation to say yes, the issue is the long wait. Let me get back to you in about 5 hours and do a quick recording.
I picked this mixer up as it was a good price and the traditional bang for the buck mixers (Beringer 502 USB and Phenyx Pro PTX-10) are $80/$100 respectively. My one complaint is that when I am outputting to my computer, the windows play/pause button is up on the screen and there is nothing I can do about it. Anyone with this mixer finds a workaround for this issue? I'm using it to manage audio for twitch streaming and its really annoying to have that locked to the top left corner while I stream.
since it has 2 inputs... channel 1 and 2 from the mixer.. can you record this 2 channel into two separate tracks? using stereo panning technique or just a single track for both channels? thanks
This was super informative thank you
I'm glad I could help. 👍
Hi, great review! Just wanted to ask - did you encounter any issues with static noise when recording via the USB interface? I have the same mixer but I just can't get rid of the constant static noise! No issues when I monitor directly though
Wow my friend great video.. how did you figure all that out
Without an English manual
😩😡🎶
Anyone else getting an annoying hum when trying to record to pc? Hums still there even if Nothing is plugged into the inputs
Yap I am facing this problem while recording. It’s the ground problem.
Mine hisses with my BM800 XLR mic when the gain is too high. To get enough volume without hiss, my mouth has to be about 50mm(2") from the mic.
are you using the Phantom power because that can be it, from experience Cheap XLR cables can cause a hiss too, make sure it's not the XLR cable because i almost sent my mic back and it was the cord that caused the loud hiss. I can almost guarantee it could be that
@@theeorehekchannel Yes phantom on XLR, and the cable came in the BM800 box.
It's not too bad at 8 o'clock on the gain, but I need to be close to the mic(40mm) to be loud enough with out the hiss. The TU04 is pretty quite, it's just past 8 o'clock and it's too much hiss.
I guess it's a cheap mixer thing, because I've seen Behringer reviews with the same hiss if you set too much mic gain.
Great review. Though the monitoring is a letdown since the mixer also records whatever you play on PC (including the metronome). Still fine for a cheap product.
GOt my brother to buy me this for 37$ and when I go it he asked me "Did you even check the reviews before getting that?" I found your vid and it was satisfying to know that it works awesome for its price. Gonna check it out when I get home tonight.
Never buy from wish. Unless it's $2
I've just won one on the limited quantity deal, I've been trying for months.
Great review Cly. The mixer is very impressive for the price, howevef, it does lack the ability to pan channels 1 & 2 to lleft and right outputs, which is a great shame. Your enthusiasm neearly had me reaching for my cc!
Same here - I just assumed that you could pan those channels, which for me is a deal breaker. I passed on the product.
Fabulous review. I was totally stuck with "ERR" when I tried to record onto the USB. It's so lame that the product expects at least one music file on the USB drive before you can record onto it!
Bro how to record in phone with this
And how to karoke with it in audacity
Mullo
Kato
Amazing video bro, very helpful. Planning to buy that same mixer :) Thank you so much.
if i record with mic and listen to my earphone, does it have back track? how can i remove them?
Thanks heaps for the review. i got the exact same mixer and doing simple recording on one condenser mic + guitar setup. I couldn't get it to do multi-track recording (channel 1 & 2), it seems that its mix down to one mono track into the DAW. Do u know if it is possible to do multi-track recording with this mixer (2 inputs, 2 channels on 2 separate tracks) ?
Hi! I am planning to buy this so that I can use it for my gaming livestreaming. My question is
1. Should I plug the mixer to the laptop for the power and connection for voice for my streaming?
2. Should I plug in my headset to thr mixer so that I can hear the game sounds?
Im sorry for thr questions. i am still new with this mixer thing and setting it up for my livestreaminh.
You should plug the mixer into your PC's USB port since you can then directly send your mic to your stream.
However, you should plug your headphones into your PC. I learned during testing that if you can hear your game audio through the mixer then it's also getting added to your mic's feed.
Cly Faker how should I do this on PS4 because whatever you use as the input forces audio to only that device so if I have my mixer plugged in then I have to use the mixer for audio also
If I plug it into my PS4 will I be able to use this while being able to hear game audio without the other people hearing it if so can you explain how please
I just bought this under....no name? like seriously all I got is JieLi BR21. Unfortunately while I can listen to my self when my headphone is plugged. The sound from my mic Shure Beta 58 did not pass through, just literally no voice to my DAW. Very unfortunate....=(
13:30 Ah! So that is why it's not possible for a STEREO guitar signal, going through the mixer; record into REAPER DAW and get a STEREO playback/track result. It'll only come out as MONO. I have been trying to figure this out for weeks! Thanks for the excellent review!
I bought something from Amazon that’s basically the same... but I can’t get it to work. I plug it into my MacBook Pro, and phantom power on. It stays connected to 2 minutes and then disconnects and says “not working” in Adobe audition. Is this a power issue? The USB cable supplied was basically an android charging cable. I’m on the verge of returning it for a named brand with fewer features so if you know, please let me know!
I bought a flash drive yesterday and gave it to my friend cause I thought it was the wrong kind for my mixer but obviously cause I didn't have an audio track on it. I thought I could just have it in and record
I have the "manual" in English. Brand name "Secondary Element" from Amazon. Worthless. I hope this video will help me. I want to connect from my iMac, then to my speakers which have RCA? cables. I don't know whether my mike uses phantom or not. I will be playing Karaoke from my Mac, and singing with my mike.
Can I use this for live streaming? Can I play a sound in the background while i am speaking?
Yes you can :)
You can, but you cannot process your microphone audio, it will have to come out raw. Normally you want a standard vocal effect chain to sound good on stream - de-noiser, noise gate, compressor, optionally fine EQ, de-esser, peak limiter, etc. but you can't use an effect chain because your mic audio will be combined with music. Cheap Behringer interfaces are ALMOST what you want, but they have a drawback that the mic audio comes into one of your ears when monitoring, so that's annoying. Their UMC204HD and higher up models fix the issue, they're perfect.
Also maybe TASCAM interfaces are something to look at for streaming specifically, i think they sold a low end one for like $45 for a while, and if i remember right, it has a perk that it supports all kinds of microphones, including headset and cheap lav microphones that don't work on any other dedicated interface, it has true P48 for condenser mics, it'll do alright with better made dynamic mics, and you might want to switch up depending on situation and things. I run a very old TASCAM interface myself, and this is borderline junk quality, and i heard they haven't gotten much better since, just badly engineered preamps and outputs, BUT since you're scraping the bottom of the barrel looking at a Chinese no-name mixer, you apparently don't have much to lose :D
I made sure the back switch is in an upright position, but it’s still not detected by my laptop? What else could possibly be wrong?
It’s a pity you didn’t show what buttons you were pressing for the sound effects instead of the. Computer screen . Also you didn’t show hooking up the laptop or mic . Which would’ve been much more helpful
I can't connect mixer with my laptop I use micro USB and do not press button behind the mixer but it still not working I don't know why, any suggestion?
i guess i'm maybe 4 years late, but could I plug an office headset into the front USB port?
I try connecting with my pc but it just shows rec and I don’t see it on my pc
Is this can be directly connected to our PC and external monitors without any doubt.? Then try.......
Please,TEYUN A4 Vs V8 sound card, which one is better bro??
Best explanation of these units I found so far. Thank you!
I just picked one of these up and I am regretting it. This thing seems to be complete garbage.
when recording, it feels like a pain to work with this
It's so funny you must be using
a very expensive
I don't know your volume is way down
on this video.
Ha ha.
I have found this for next to nothing on eBay.
I am looking for a small mixer to send a signal to a floor monitor in a live situation
Would this work?
I have yet to find a phantom microphone that won’t work with 9 v, though most have lower gain and more noise at lower voltages.
I'm impressed with your testing audio. I have a similar one but when i connect my guitar to the interface then interface to PC, it has a constant noise (hum). Your audio is very clean.
I have the same issue. I had to output the signal to another interface to solve the issue (beats the purpose of using a budget mixer like this though)
@@youngyeeer6576 Thanks. what was the other interface that you used?
@@orpheuscna I used an irig HD2, brings the total cost up though!
Can this mixer be connected on phone for online video podcasts?
i got the SAME mixer for christmas and I LOVE IT
There is several version using the same shell, I got 2 one was shit and the other one wasn't as shit, but still shit, if you record and listen the recording using a separate audio card you will notice a lot of noise, but if you plug headphone monitors to the mixers, there is no sound and that tricks people into believing it's a decent product.
I never understand how people watch or if they even sit through and watch these videos why they still can't get it to work and they say they did all the same stuff.
I have this mixer,When i record in Fl studio or ableton and my Headphones are plugged in the Headphone Jack I can hear noise that starts to get louder and it destroys my ears
Can you connect a power amp to be used as a PA system?
Blue tooth sound is awesome. But it sounds like crap when I play music from laptop
I get an electrical buzzing sound from it :/
Is there a way to fix that?
But if you turn on the input monitoring in audacity there is no option to switch between the mixer monitoring and audacity
you didnt show how to hook up the microphone. thats what i was looking for...not how it sounds. I didnt get to that part yet...ugh
pls I need help cos I want a real USB bluetooth mixer not bluetooth player
Great review. What power bank are you using please
I ordered this exact one off of Walmart online I'm trying to figure out how to use it
Finally a real review!
Having the same issue with the PC sound, would a simple USB sound card with a mike and headphone 3.5mm female jack cure the problem (you can pick those up here in the uk for 3 to 6 pound sterling) cure the problem or would you suggest a real cheap external card/sound mixer for around the 15 pound sterling mark?
Thanks for the review and your answer :)
both will work just fine.
Great video, ur reviews are great for me since I’m interested in good quality budget audio equipment. Keep it up!
Thanks. 😁
It's such an interesting topic, and there are some real gems hidden among the cheap junk.
I got a bomge six channel for 60 GBP it's not to bad
So useful. Thank you, for explaining so clearly.
Can I use tascam Mt 80 mic. On this mixer . Plz reply
i purchase one of them off EBAYfor $49 free shipping
Is this product also known as MX 4?
I watched this and immediately bought one from e-bay new for 36$ incl. shipping. Should be in my hands in a couple of days. Thanks for the great review!
Hi, how do you think about it? Is it worth well ?
can this mixer power 48v condenser microphones??
can i plug a usb condenser mic in the usb without latency?
Anyone figure out how to change effects to reverb???!
can i use that for recording?
Yes.
@@ClyFaker for audacity?
Yep. That's what I used to record the audio samples in this video.
thanks want to try it.. hope it will also work fine in acoustic guitar
So did it work
Hi, in my case I am receiving a hum noise when I connect the usb cable on the computer. Did you notice this?
How to connect with computer
Helpful I'm gonna buy
Bought one today for 36,75 euros included shipping. So they are still cheap.
Wish is a fun site, sometime you get exactly what you want and sometimes you’ll get a completely different item, over all wish is full of surprises they may be cheap but there still surprising 😂nice video sir 👍
lol
That's why I prefer AliExpress. Not only do you typically get what you ordered, but it's usually significantly cheaper. 😆
Good info, thank you. Does anyone know where I can download an English user manual? Mine came with only a single page in Chinese!
Hey. Did you get an English manual?
just download Behringer q802 usb manual, these mixers are similar in funcrions + behringer manuals are really informativ in regards of recording tutorial.
Thank you so much for this review as I was looking for any information about how to use this mixer. I have ordered Dreambo M6 from Wish, which simillare but with two more XLR, received it after 4 weeks. The user manual is very poor as you have shown , but it came in English. A wall mains to USB american standard supplied with it. The main reason for buying it is that i want to receive calls by my cell phone or Skype calls ( some body advised to loop cables to stop the echo) and insert to my live stream, I have an XLR mic. What is your advise please ?
Max sample for the record? 24 bit, 96kHz?
This mixer, as well as most others in and above this price range, has a maximum resolution of 48kHz/16bit.
Interestingly, there has been a surge of USB mics for $50 that record at 192kHz/24bit.
I bought this on the Geek app for $26. I have not opened or used it yet.
Excellent comprehensive review of a product that I ALMOST want to buy and I'm very glad that you used your power bank to power it. This is a feature I wanted to test and you did it for me. Cheers. I'm a busker and want to power my mixer with a power bank instead of the much larger 12V 5ah SLA battery I'm currently using. The killer on this unit is the effects. I play flute and need a decent reverb. Thanks for this review because it really helps me. You're singing to the choir with me and you've won a new subscriber as a result. BTW, the mixer I'm using right now is a wonderful Yamaha MG06x that can be powered by 12v but not USB; it's expensive (for me) and I play outdoors in the Tropics where gear takes a beating. On AliExpress there is a mixer that looks almost identical to the MG06x but isn't. It has digital reverb and is mains powered or USB: $80AUD delivered for me. Have a look! Thanks again.
I'm glad to hear that my going into too much detail was helpful. 😁
I'll definitely take a peek at the mixer you found, and if things keep going well with this series I might even pick one up to review later on down the road.
I need to choose this or Behringer XENYX 502 which one to grab?
If the Xenyx 502 is an option, then you might want to also check out the Phenyx Pro PTX-10. Unlike this mixer and the Behringer (and pretty much every USB mixer under $300), it allows you to listen to your PC's audio through the mixer's headphone jack without recording it.
Here's my review of the PTX-10:
ua-cam.com/video/ao9egPWAj4Q/v-deo.html
hello, how do i switch from line mode to PC mode?
Pls how do I connect this to my pc
great review, thanks!! new sub indeed!
Where is the competition?
So quick rundown of my setup. My dynamic microphone is plugged into my A4 mixer, that's powered directly to a surge protector and uses the L and R outputs to connect to my UMC202HD audio interface. The interface plugged into a powered USB hub. No electrical buzz, no hiss, just clean sound and plenty of gain and I can have the audio settings be higher quality again in the PC settings.
I try to buy this... But is this really good to use?
Just got one of these on ebay for 20 bux CDN. Pretty excited to try it out
Adam Ventress so how is it ?
