    Great Channel you have here! We just built a new house. The front yard is limited to power so I’m going to tackle the back of the house first. Your videos have been a huge help. I’m a big diy guy so I thank you very much!

      Dude congratz! Glad the videos and channel has helped you out! I'd love to see what the lights look like after you install them. If you wouldn't mind sending me pics to my email, Facebook, or Instagram. That's what this channel is for, and I love seeing how it helps.

      AK Lighting I will for sure. Right now the yard is a disaster because we are building a pool. But if weather permits we should be complete in 3 weeks. All I’ve been doing is thinking about my plan of attack on the lighting. So your channel is a huge help. I’ll take some before and after pictures and keep you posted. I followed your IG yesterday. Ty again!

    where do you find these wire connectors/protectors?

    Hi, I'm about to install 13 LED lights in an area that doesn't drain well using 16/2 wire. I see that you recommend those waterproof connector caps but does someone make a small waterproof box that these connector caps can sit inside for additional protection? If not, do you think the waterproof connectors caps will be enough?

    I have 16/2 wire and blue and brown colored wires from the spot light, which colored wire goes with the letter wire? Or which colored wire goes with the groove wire? Help.

    If I had two lights pretty close (left and right side to uplight a large tree) can I connect both of them to the main wire instead of individually; essentially 4 wires per connector vs. the 3 and as long as I matched the rough and text wires accordingly?

      @aklighting8292  3 роки тому

      Yes. You can technically connect as many wires as you want to one spot on the main wire, as long as you have large enough connectors. I'll only wire up at max 3 lights to one spot on the main wire. Hope this helps. Best of luck!

    In this video at 5:30 you show “water proof” connectors and say that they must be used to prevent the wires from corroding. However you are using the gel filled waterproof tubes incorrectly. The video shows that you barely insert the wire connector into the tube and snap it closed. The waterproofing is ONLY effective when the connector is pushed all the way down into the gel to the bottom of the tube. The gel is displaced and surrounds the wires and connector preventing water from entering the connector and getting to the wires. The way you are using the gel filled tube there is no gel barrier preventing water intrusion into the wire connector. If the wire connector isn’t pushed down into the gel, the tube isn’t doing anything to prevent the wires from being damaged from ground water.

      These connectors actually have a lot of gel inside them, so much so that when you push the wire nut in, the gel gets displaced and fills the area around the wire. Great observation! I'll make another video showing what I'm talking about. But trust me, these are actually water proof connectors. I've been using them for 7 years now and have never had any issue with them. However, there are some other "water proof" covers that aren't actually water proof, and I've had a lot of issues with them. Thanks for your comment.

    What do you do with the wire connections once they are capped? Are they buried?

    • @aklighting8292

      Yes they are buried. I usually dig a small hole with the shovel, put the connectors in the hole, then cover them up.

    The guy who installed my system just used electricians tape and it is still working 28 years later!

      That's awesome! I wish that was the case for everyone.

      The electric tape sold today is worse than that sold 5 years ago. It is so bad it sometimes unravels after months.

      @@clarkblount7788 On the plus side, I was using some "Scotch" tape recently and was amazed at how long lasting it was compared to the tape of the old days. By long lasting, I mean you could put it on and peel it off over and over again without its losing its stickiness.
