- I played Elden Ring Shadow of The Erdtree for my first time today! As a long time souls-like player I was very excited to start playing the new Elden Ring DLC but what I didn't realize is that the bosses, enemies, and pretty much everything was going to be insanely hard! Can I take the Shadow Lands and bring down Messmer?

This boss was the moment I’ve released they weren’t joking with every boss being as hard as Malenia. After encountering three by now they already surpassed her by a mile holy sh
Im currently fighting Messmer and now I look at Malenia as the Solider of Godrick for the DLC.
I'm max level on the new game +7 and it's both heaven and hell, everything hits like I was in Nagasaki but I also hit decently hard sometimes.

Rellana was just a nightmare , totaly flashback from uncle Suly and this game literally insult you 💀 but still peak DLC
She’s way way way way too much for being a random knight in a pool and also being so early into the DLC. Not even talking about her absurd moveset but also about her health and poise.

I love the Scadutree fragments. Allows me to dial in how much damage I want to do without the fear of losing all my runes if I die.

I'm loving it, it's great. Essentially more of what made Elden Ring legendary.... and a lot of it.
This dlc really forces you out of the "roll away from boss to get to safety mentality", which is super awesome imo. Makes the moments you can heal a lot more rewarding and intense!
Lion fight was a fight where running is usually more beneficial than rolling if you're trying to get away, but it's SO fun hahaha
Going to wait to watch til I get a little ways in but man, the first boss hits hard and makes my level 173 bloodhound fang build look like a noob
Seems like the scadutree fragments are the way to go to make yourself feel more DLC ready
If you don't like Elden Ring boss design you will hate this DLC. If you like it than you will most likely love the bosses
Loved the bosses I've fought so far, very challenging at times but fun to fight regardless

Sure, that is a possibility. It's equally possible that the consistent and ever-increasing difficulty creep designed to appease only the players who scream for everything to be as frustratingly difficult as possible is leading the game design down a path where sooner or later it finally stops being fun to play and loses itself in bad decisions just to tweak that arbitrary difficulty level just another step further down.
I'd say it's great design, incredibly difficult for people wanting to give themselves a challenge by not summoning, using status effects or big stagger weapons, and at the same time incredibly easy for the average player who does do those things

Think it's still pretty long for a From software DLC. Compared to Bloodborne or dark souls 3 it's certainly longer. But yeah it's a DLC not a full game. We need more now 😅

Looks like FromSoft have continued the tradition of overtuning bosses and areas just to keep the hard as nails reputation going. I’m gonna just watch other people suffer with this I think. This does not look like fun to play for me personally. Base game was hard enough.
