Look forward to further testing and your findings. Seems awesome for the price/performance from what I have seen.

It performs quite well and is great for video editing on my level. Especially when adding extra harddrive space yourself (handy dock with NVME drive that I set up as an ' internal drive ' with an applications folder and library folder on the NVME drive) instead of the need to sell a vital organ to acquire the funds to upgrade hardware or ram.
I think upgrading a base model with Apple is not the way to go. Use the cash you'd spend on the one up on a base M4Pro machine I'd say.
If you do want higher specs, getting a M4Pro MacMini might be reasonable when it comes to getting even more performance CPU/GPU wise with more RAM and storage that comes with it. That's more power and similar storage than you'll get for the same amount upgrading a M4 Mini base model - you need to do that upon purchase as none of the items like storage or memory is user upgradeable. Although the ' NVME ' type storage inside the unit is of the removable/replaceable Apple proprietary variety which is NOT user replaceable - some seem hopefull Apple might (eh... never) make upgrades available or third party solutions might evolve - reverse engineered or salvaged from a higher specced dead Apple device.

    What is crossover?

Crossover is when someone passes to the other side.... also it is a specialized packaged version of Wine that caters for an easy to way to run Windows software on non Windows operating systems. Much in the guise of Proton functionality within the Linux Steam Client.
Crossover is also available on Linux - a more tailored and configured Wine (Wine is Not an Emulator) which allows for autoconfiguration and provided configs with a set of known applications and games.
Crossover for Mac on Apple Silicon has to do something pretty special - it has to incorporate the Rosetta 2 emulation CPU translation layer from within a VM that runs Linux.
Actually I believe that ever since the Ventura release of MacOS virtualization software like Parallels but also others that 'expose' a virtualized CPU can actually provide an 'intel CPU' through rosetta 2 within virtual machines.
Debian for example can be just as omnipotent binary compatible in a virtual machine running Debian as MacOS is for Mac applications. Provided you also have the appropriate x86 libraries on the Linux distro that support the x86 application.
There still is no native way of running Linux or Windows directly on Apple Silicon that I know of. The mac equivalent of EFI is locked down in such a manner on apple silicon machines that it is not possible to boot a different OS. Encryption on the SSD level with proprietary controller chips tied to the hardware ID of the machine takes care of that. So on apple silicon SSD's micht be USER removable but aren't USER replaceable because of that. Secure but hell for the ones who like to user service and upgrade.
Much more info that your question but hey, I just needed to type this. :)
