- 1969 Martin D12-20 played by Jason Fowler. Recorded with three Ear Trumpet Edwina microphones.
The D12-20 was Martin's first production 12 string, introduced at the end of 1964. A 12-fret dreadnought body and slotted headstock are the most noticeable differences between the style 20 and its style 18 sister, but the D-12-20 features fancier purflings and backstrip as well. It's a big and deep 12 string, with a voice to match.
Mahogany back and sides, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Recent neck reset (its second), refret, and bone nut and saddle by our shop. Older repairs include a replacement pickguard, crack repairs at the pickguard margin and along the fingerboard extension, and a section of spliced-in rosette. The guitar is in largely very nice shape, with a few isolated dings and dents, and a small gauge on the top’s upper treble bout. Nicely set-up with easy-to-play low action and comfortably rounded neck. 24.9" scale, 1-7/8" nut.
A wonderfully rich and warmly voiced 12 string.
