- This might be one of the craziest videos I've done. Join me on my Street Glide Special as I check out this performance Harley and test if this exhaust is loud enough to wake the dead. What a surprise!
I get a lot of comments and emails from people who just don't believe loud pipes save lives so let's clear up some misconceptions as we have a little fun.

I remembered people saying that the noise is out the back & you wont hear a bike with loud pipes. I can say that is B.S because I did hear a bike coming up behind me going through town while driving. It was good as it made me aware they were there. You & Eric are always a crack up when you get together. I never used to believe in sprits until a friend that was like a big brother passed away suddenly about 5yrs ago. I had odd things in the house happen almost every day for about 2-3months. Now nothing, so I wasn't until then. Great show mate. Keep up the great work!

If I saw those two ghost girls in the woods alone it would definitely creep me out.
I once woke up from sleeping once and a similar looking girl was standing next to me looking at me.
As I tried to focus on her she simply started to reverse away and disappeared.
It definitely gives you a start. It wasn’t a dream I saw her with my own two eyes.

You what a good running motor,,,less restriction means better performance and louder pipes, cooler engine temperatures and better fuel economy,,,depend on your riding style.

Too funny, was on a UK site for shorties for the R18, then this pops up at the same time.....! I made a comment here a couple of weeks ago about loud pipes and, all I said was I don't really like loud pipes, but a tuned set with good note is different.... That got more return comments than I have ever had in the past. There is louder and obnoxious...... and I am not a fan of obnoxious. As for ghost hunting, a temperature gun is what I went on an organized tour with when I was in Newport R.I. - There is supposed to be a noticeable temperature drop around a poltergeist, we started with the ritual chicken blood letting, but didn't find squat, probably because it was minus 2 degrees.

I have Rinehart headers and pipes. I did this when I went Stage 1, It is much louder, and drivers are hearing it as long as they're not wearing ear pods (which is a thing now.) As far as paranormal goes, I am a believer, but a lot of people go looking for a paranormal experience, but most people don't plan on what to do when they have an paranormal experience.

The TBR is very loud. I said to the dealer I want the loudest bad ass exhaust you can fit me. A week later asked for an option that was 2/3 bad ass 😂

Greetings from Texas. Spot on about what makes a harley louder only thing i would add is raising the compression also changes the tone of the exhaust to a higher pitch. Have you heard of SP concepts ? They make a real nice sounding 2 into 1.

Yes! A reasonably noisy motorcycle absolutely does get the attention of otherwise clueless drivers. That, without a doubt, increases safety in high traffic situations. If people notice you, they're aware of you and far less likely to merge into you. That is a fact! Now for the safety benefits of chrome...

When I’m driving in my Car I can most certainly hear a loud bike before I can see it, it makes me look out for it….. don’t know how many times I have seen a bike and thought shit where the hell did you come from….. loud pipes simply get the attention of all motor vehicles…..

On a Harley loud is good if it sounds good and I think it helps. Clearly a small percentage of Harley are obnoxiously loud and make it bad for everyone else.

I bought my 2015 Ultra Classic used...
It came with some aftermarket pipes.. Extreme??
I really like them, and they were just a few levels louder than stock...
I upgraded the 103ci twin cam engine to a Screaming Eagle 110ci last year...
After the engine mods the bike is noticeably louder even though it still has the same mufflers...
I wonder if the loudness is due to the bigger displacement or because of the bigger head pipes to fit the heads...
Maybe both....
It's nowhere near as loud as straight pipes, but it is at the upper level of what I like, especially after 5 or 6 hours...

So whilst I agree loud pipes save lives , the same can be said they take lives, here's my reasoning :- as us in our twy light years have the wisdom of when and where to give throttle a crack as a warning , the youth of the world have the look at me mentality , ride around the public domain as throttle jockeys not only drawing attention to themselves but to us ol fellas who don't need the cop attention , in the young persons endeavor to impress they can be engrossed in the loud pipe syndrome going through the gears not realising the increase in speed has now let their ego out way their ability , things become real and lives can be taken , so not only do loud pipes save lives , they can take them too , correct me if I'm wrong , great blog aymen

I've ridden quiet bikes and loud bikes. From my experience, I've had far fewer issues with others not realizing I'm there when I'm on something loud than when I'm on something quiet. Do all the "research" you want, come up with whatever contrived scenarios you want to try to disprove that. My real world experience tells me I'm better off on something louder.

Multi lane hwy, passing in and out of the blind spots of other vehicles a proper exhaust helps awareness for sure - my 2cents
Interesting video .. I’ve watched many paranormal stuff on you tube over the last few years , never did it occur to me that loud pipes may help locate lost spirit !
But I’m sure loud pipes may just help to keep you alive on your bike !

I work at a mobile home park several hundred yards away from the highway and I can hear the Harley’s coming and going by the park and I’ve lost half my hearing.

Hi aways been a standard pipe not by choice always what i had then got my Street Bob had vance and hines i was filtering on my honda nobody moved to let me through on the harley they do can only be because they make people look in there mirrors dont need to save lives i will settle for looking and see me comeing

Im new to HD motorcycles. I have a 2021 RGL. What I have learned so far is that.
1. HD owners love love love loud pipes. It has nothing to do with saving lives.

If I find some man's music that sounds good (I have limited choices) I will add that
Street bikes, dirt bikes... loud exhausts is what causes a lack of access for motorcyclists and increased legislation. Loud pipes do not save lives. Rider education and skill saves lives. Good quality gear saves lives.
My experience is that my loud pipes (Vance and Hines Straight Shots, with Khromeworks anti-reversion baffles that don't tame the volume much) make the most difference in preventing clueless cagers from lane changing into me, when I'm beside them. I've seen the "oh shit!" swerve away, as they hear me, dozens, if not hundreds, of times over the past 19 years, and almost 400,000 kms, on my '05 Night Train. They also tend to keep cagers from riding up my tailpipes. My loud pipes have definitely saved my life on countless occasions.
