After watching the Netflix Special entitled "The Movies That Made Us" the L.A. BEAST learned that he could actually stand EXACTLY where Patrick Swayze once stood while filming the Famous "LIFT" scene with Jennifer Grey in the 1987 hit movie "Dirty Dancing". So what the L.A. BEAST did was rewatch the movie Dirty Dancing 27 times, vigorously research what remaining filming locations for the movie still exist (most of the structures used in the filming burned down since 1987) and then get in his car and drive 7 hours 41 minutes to Pembroke, Virginia to The Mountain Lake Lodge to where it feels like you are immediately in the movie once you arrive....as not much has changed here since 1987 (except for the LAKE drying up) From there he would have to drive another 4 hours 3 minutes exactly to BEAUTIFUL Lake Lure, North Carolina to where 3 more pivotal locations where used for filming (the stairs, gymnasium from the end of the movie and the 16th hole of the Bald Mountain Golf Course where Baby asks her Dad to borrow $250)
Dirty Dancing is a timeless classic and it was an honor meeting the KIND & GENEROUS FOLKS from Pembroke, VA and Lake Lure, NC while getting to experience first hand what the actors from the movie felt and experienced back in 1987. The L.A. BEAST will definitely be back soon...
Here is what was captured...

ChrisS82 yes. I want to be that guy

You are the most randomly dedicated person I've ever seen. Honestly, kinda inspiring.
Lol fuck yeah he is the man ay... love Beast!
I think this perfectly sums up this channel. Love it :D
He is the best
It's the Asperger's. Gotta love the guy
+1 :)
Dude, you should make film synopsis videos. Loved your summary.

@@LABEAST I live near Astoria,Or where part of The Goonies was filmed. They just recently made it to where you can't go up to the house anymore. I'm sure it was getting chaotic with visitors.
It looks like you were: Having the Time of Your Life...
What is love?! Oh wrong song...
Damn it, you beat me to it.
@@nicolascage5323 and I swear it's the truth
*sunglasses* YEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!
That's in Mobile Insticts comments also when he visited here, was that you ?
The part where you kayak nine miles to get the stairs shot is exactly what separates you from other content creators. Keep up the great work, brother 👍
Love your work LA beast. Whatever content you make is always entertaining.
Let's be honest, this movie would be ten times better if Beast was in it instead
He actually could have been in it. As one of the little kids in the background lol. Cause he was proably 3 or 4 when it came out lol
Give this man an Oscar. You couldn’t have summed up the movie any better Beast. You’re truly a beast!!!!! 👀
Dude, I think you're on to something here. I've never even seen Dirty Dancing but this was thoroughly entertaining. I could see this becoming a series with you doing other movies. Nicely done!
One time a stranger thought my dad was Jerry Orbach and followed him around the grocery store eventually coming up to him and asking for an autograph. My dad, who doesn't watch movies, had no clue who the guy was talking about. Great video, Beast!!!
Of the years and years I've been watching your channel, this is immediately one of my favourites
You literally can even do THE THING!!! Those places don't even exist in these days.. I love you so much for trying !! Honestly, it's the greatest movie/soundtrack of all time💕 let me tell ya, I'm a die hard cuz I'm an 80's baby..like I was literally born in 1980
Rest easy Patrick Swayze and Jerry Orbach...nice tribute here, Kev. Hope you and your family stay safe and well.
Thanks for everything in this video. Keep being you. Thank you.
This was really cool! You should try (if possible) to take your metal detector up to that place where the lake once was. You might find something related to the movie!
Nice. Hope you stay healthy during this weird time... greetings from Germany
This movie is one of my secret favorites. My wife and I have it on VHS. Also the VHS 10 year anniversary .. blue ray .. dvd.. and digital download. Johnny castle was just a bad ass!!
"I want to stand on the cinder-blocks where Patrick Swayze one stood" - Never change, Beast.
LA Beast is KILLING it with the content. Loving the variety you're going for bro. You've got a lot of talent, and I am pleasantly surprised at how good the new ideas have been. Keep it up!
Never seen the movie, and now I don't have to because LA Beast just did the best summary/recreation ever.
Fantastic stuff!!! I can’t wait for the same treatment for “The Rock” starring Nicholas Cage, Ed Harris, and Sean Connery!
I loved dirty dancing and it is kinda sad that the lake is GONE
I was surprised that the lake was gone but it is sad it went from a very pretty lake to a ghost lake
it will come back, it drains itself to stay clean
someone should restore that iconic lake in Patrick's honor.. what other lake is more iconic along with Camp Crystal Lake
@H Collins oh shut the fuck up.
H Collins ok
Very cool how they made that memorial for Swayze. RIP brother. Also, the soundtrack for this movie was amazing.
i LOVE the evolution of this channel; drinking everclear, eating cacti, drinking eggs, opening baseball cards, metal detecting, reeenacting scenes from dirty dancing lol man keep it up love it mind over matter! la beast! have a good day!
This is pure GOLD! As a video communications teacher, if you keep filming movie locations like this, you would gain another cult following.
I rip you half person man
Lol You said the whole movie in less than two minutes and I sat through the whole movie a few times, I loved it that much! Twice at the movie theater and on a VHS (god I now feel old! Lol)...and on t.v. I love dancing and been in several dance contests, so any movie with dancing, I’m there! 😁
I’ve always wanted to recreate filming locations! This was fascinating to watch, Beast! I love it, keep it up! 👍💪
The la beast lives on with the power of the ultimate warrior
hey just wanted to lyk ur videos have given me a really fun escape during hard times and I really appreciate that. Hope youre in good health and have a good day
All jokes aside, this surely took a TREMENDOUS amount of time/work/dedication & a fair-amount of money (travel, per diem, etc.) to create. Good job, bud!
I have a photo of myself sitting on the stone steps where Baby and Billy carried the watermelons up to the staff bar. All that remained when I was there in 1999 were the steps themselves and the foundation of what was once the building used for the staff bar scene where Baby danced with Johnny for the first time. The real estate guy in Lake Lure told us that a few years before we were there a bunch of local kids broke into the old building to have a party and built a fire in the middle of the floor in their drunken bliss and burned the building down. The foundation was made of concrete and rocks, really neat to stand in the middle of all of that. We had to trespass to get onto the property but at the time there was nothing there. The bridge at the foot of the steps across the creek was gone but the white pipe that you can see beside of where the bridge was sticking out of the side of the hill by the bridge in the movie was still there as well.
The final dance scene was actually filmed in a big barn that once stood out in the field below the steps up to the staff bar. The barn was transformed inside into the dance hall in the final scene and used in several scenes throughout the movie. When filming ended the production crew simply left the set as it was in the movie. According the real estate broker we talked to there were two large pine trees which stood on either end of the barn out in the field. One night a bad storm swept thru the area and blew one of the trees over on top of the barn destroying most of it and the property owner ended up tearing the entire structure down. Nothing remained of the set and in time nature reclaimed the spot where it once stood. There were also a few stone foundations of what were once the shacks used as "staff quarters" in the movie as well down near the lake but pretty much all other signs of the set were gone. The Lake Lure filming location was located in Firefly Cove just off of "Boys Camp Road" just outside of the little town of Lake Lure along the lake.
I recently viewed the area on Googlemaps and it appears that all traces of the filming set are gone. A housing development has claimed the area and a huge mansion now sits in the field where the barn set once stood. It is kind of sad knowing all of that history is gone. After the film's success I would have thought the property owners would have made every effort to preserve the set and maintain it as a tourist attraction but apparently they felt there was more money to be made by selling the property off for development. I suppose nothing can stand in the way of progress these days.........
This just shows me that you're not just another pretty face out there & that the content you create should be used as a model to teach the up & coming UA-cam creaters! You never cease to amaze Kevin! Stay safe ❤👊🇨🇦
You just need to find something you are passionate about and go for it

This video is kick ass! well done dude! huge fan!
I think I remember my dad telling me that he actually went to that same lake and had a few drinks of alcohol with his friends.
THEeggster great place to do so
Once you start something it seems like you become very invested in it and I’m impressed. Kudos to you, good sir.
My wife and I went to the Dirty Dancing themed weekend at the Mountain Lake Lodge last June and absolutely had a blast! That place is amazing. Shame the lake isn't what it once was (and likely never will be again) but it was pretty cool to see all the locations that were still the same today. We are going to go back sometime for a normal weekend. The location was quiet and peaceful and the weather was perfect.
This was very cool beast! Hope u can do more like this.
I'm a movie buff and this was pretty cool and kept my attention. You're hilarious man. But seriously this was Cool
You remind me of my uncle, but a little younger, he's goofy as hell

Christopher T. Have a good day Christopher
Exceptionally thorough. Thank you.
Best 1 minute and 38 seconds of my life!!!
This brings back so many memories! Thanks for this beautiful content beast! Loved it!
Hey, nice work! I have one comment - in the video, at 14:45 to 15:40, you're wrong. It is not the ruins of the former Gym, but the Dining Room, which in the film served for outdoor shots of the Dance Studio (your video shows the remains of the entrance to the Dance Studio) and was also used in the scene where Baby stands for the first time under the stairs in the evening and hears music playing from the building, where he later brings a melon. It probably also featured interior scenes from the dance studio as well as footage from the staff dancing room. The final dance scene with the iconic lift scene, as well as the dance performance scenes from both hotels, took place in the Gym, which was located lower down the coast. By now, there probably weren't even ruins left of the Gym, which were still visible in a lot of pictures and shots from years past. Anyway, great video, you did a nice search, and you helped me with identifying a few other places. For example, you've done a pretty good job of figuring out which stairs are the real ones Baby danced on. Thank you.
Beast, you're a National Treasure.
RIP Jerry Orbach and Patrick Swayze (who’s anachronistic song, while great because it reminds me of being a kid in the 80s, was used for a movie that took place decades earlier...like “I’ve had the time of my life”).
You literally put a smile on my face. Seriouslydude, I just want to say thank u for being u and making killer content.
This is the most beautiful thing the Beast ever produced... Well, after the painting from things destroyed by a Katana.
This is pretty Nice, something that I dig cuz it's rockabilly, baby!
Please make more of these, I loved this
You sir are a legend. Love wealth and health
James O right back at you
Just saw/watched this Beast...
IF YOU do not get a nomination (let alone win) for BEST ACTOR for the OSCAR, there is no true justice in the world.

Great stuff indeed!
I miss the video bloggs you did when you prepaired for the big
walk across the north american continent that unfortunately never happened.
You walked around and showed places and houses with some sort of historical significance to us non americans.
No plans on moving back to the L.A. area?
Love stuff like this too

Fair play that was brilliant
L.A Beast needs to do some song covers

Still a bit confused on the stairs. Is there one set or two? Where are they in conjunction with Baby's cabin? And what about the bridge she crosses when she's dancing? Great channel, subscribed. 💜
This should be your new gig
