Although we always want more, a steady flow of top quality models is better than rushing through poor quality items. 😊
Absolutely
A jinty or standard class 4 would have been a better choice. Very northern heavy.
Yes. Be interesting to know their reasoning
Your reaction to the J50 unveiling at 2:30 summed it up for me! Great stuff! And great format Chris, i enjoyed this video. Hope Jim shared some well-earned chocolate too 👍😀
No he didn’t, he scoffed the blooming lot! 🤣
@@PeachyTT120 can't get the staff 😀
I was wondering how you got a video out before me.
Nice and simple, I like it 👌
😝😝😝
@@PeachyTT120 heres me saving images all morning like a fool 🥸
@@LetsMakeTracks2023 sorry bud, but maybe yours might be a more reflective video? I was just basically grinning 😁
Fine vid once again Mr Peachy … I’m well pleased with the J 50 and signals
Yeah they’re cracking
Very happy with these releases. Of course, we'd like more stuff, but this is great progress and the quality looks good.
The signals are a real win - have given Rails a pre-order for a few of those.
Hoping for some Southern and GWR stuff, and believe there would be a big market for that stuff in the wealthy South East.
Would be nice to see Peco fill out their track system with a few more bits - double-slips crossovers etc.
I’d love Peco to expand their excellent track range
From the renders the home and distant signals look to me to be Southern Railway style - especially with the counterweights near the top rather than at the base.
Slow and steady. I think we were warned. I wouldn’t expect to see much of the old phase 3 & 4 stuff confirmed until next year
@@ajb07 usual joined up thinking 🤨 🤣
@@damianinCanadaTT-OO I think you’re right
the 37 will be great if Louis has been doing it. will be useful for ttas and cartics too.
Thank you
My pleasure
The intercity 125 set is crazy good value, I couldn't resist the sound fitted one.
Me too…
Whilst I like the J50 (pre-order the early version, and was wavering over getting a late as well), but what about the GWR 57 tank / J94. I think a Jinty would have been more popular (&less LNER centric). Have they gone for the J50's because it is big enough to get Hornby's big 6 pin decoder in?
Glad the Class 37 is on the way.
But I was hoping for updates on 9F & Castle class (that are in the original brochure). Plus updates on future phases like black 5 etc.
I like what has been announced. But there is a lot they could have covered. Maybe the Q&A later on will be more illuminating.
I get the feeling they might be spreading out their news over the year to keep the conversation going.
I hope so! Class 08 & J50 are available in Autumn 24 (hopefully!). So there is scope to get other releases available before xmas.@@PeachyTT120
Hi being an Aussie I don't know a lot about UK railways but I am really looking out and waiting for the Class 50 loco. All these new announcements look great and appears promising that TT120 is still moving forward. Those container wagons WOW!
Hi Peachy, steady releases is the order of the day. I suspect it won't be too long before the Gresley's make an appearance. Perhaps when the Coronation class are released.
The 'two' trainsets are the two version of the HST set. With and without sound, which is slightly misleading. They've previously said a fourth set will be coming too. My guess is maybe a shunting set, or maybe something with the class 50s. If not perhaps the Castles or the Britannias when they're released.
As for GWR there's stuff in the pipeline: Castle class and Praries, but I suspect it will be a while before they make an appearance.
Hornby are releasing locos that are big sellers in OO first. Flying Scotsman and Mallard clearly head that list so of the Big Four it makes sense to concentrate on LNER stuff first. Then the LMS Coronation class and Black 5s, looks like GWR third, then Southern last. Again Hornby's reasoning makes sense.
The HST's are also massively popular so a great choice for the first diesel express. Again lots of liveries they can do with the orignal BR and swallow being the most popular sellers in OO so again they chose those first.
The class 08 was a great choice as a shunter because it covers so many eras, though I was surprised they didn't do the BR green livery in the first release as it's steam era. Glad to see they've now rectified that.
I'm a bit surprised they didn't do the class 37 before class 50 as it covers more eras. Still good to know it's in the pipeline and again lots of liveries they can do. The class 66 makes sense as they'll also appeal to the European market. This is where TT has an advantage over OO for Hornby, they can now tap into other markets especially Europe, the US and Japan where TT is already established.
Much the same with coaches. Mk1s are the obvious choice along with Pullmans because they cover a lot of eras/ companies. The Mk1s also have several liveries.
With shunters they've gone for big ones which due to TT's small size makes sense as they have more room to work with. The J94 is also in the pipeline. I can't see Pecketts or Terriers for a long time due to their small size, if ever, without advances in technology.
I still think wagons are over priced. The second hand marker for OO means it's one area where TT is more expensive. It would be nice to see wagon packs to make rakes more affordable. I emailed Simon Kohler about that before he left and he said wagon/coach packs were something they were considering. Whether that's still the case now he's gone I don't know.
Good to see signals and level crossings. Remember TT is aimed at appealing to a new generation of modellers rather than established modellers.
Wow! Now that’s what I call a comment! 🤩
I am surprised to see no 57xx 0-6-0PT or other small WR locomotives so I guess demographics have changed in the UK .... Interesting and intriguing
I’m pretty sure we will see them announced over the next year or two. I agree it’s frustrating but they can’t do everything immediately.
It’s good new stuff is coming out but hoping to see the 50 classes coming out to
Yes I thought that might have made it onto the shelves today
I was hoping for more announcements. Such as class 25’s. Black 5’s. Love TT it will grow.
Hopefully we’ll have more than one announcement this year fingers crossed 🤞
Nothing GWR steam. Hedging my bets. OK if you like the inter city 125. A GWR train set would swing it for me. Thanks for showing. Regards Paul.
Yup, GWR small set would be a winner I think
Great news! I can`t wait for the J50's and, of course, the signals! (btw. I am already plotting to link them to my interlocking frame)
The Sffgmss wagons seem to be the single-wagon version of Arnold's twin pair version - and have appeared just this day as HN9751 - HN9753 on their website.
Good spot, I did at the time wonder if these were a reworked Arnold model
@@PeachyTT120 It seems to be the case. Arnold had these wagons in their news leaflet a while ago. And as Arnold is a Hornby brand, they might have already taken on the developing work.
What’s your interlocking frame?
@@gregmacdonald927 It's a 16-lever brass frame at 1/4 scale, made back in the 2000s by Australian manufacturer Modratec.
The IFA container wagons have been delivered in the Arnold TT Range so the moulds exist to produce them - they have been announced again as HN9751-9753 - I hope they will have different running numbers
They do need to be don’t they?
As a BR Eastern Region fan, this release has made me very happy. Pre-ordered a J50 straight away! With the BR green 08 coming as well, then I'm well catered for! I do feel they need to diversify though, other regions could do with a boost and we definitely need more steam/diesel freight pulling options!
I agree… I was really hoping for a flat wagon
@@PeachyTT120 yes, a conflat or a bogie bolster would be nice!
Would have been nice to see some new mk1 types and a MCV coal wagon and pressfow wagon and for the diesel front a class 25
I agree. I’m happy with what’s been announced but something other than more tankers for pre-1960’s would have been nice
for signalling your depot?
Was hoping for a MK1 buffet car in maroon and blue grey. I remember them being in use for quite a number of years so would cover more than one era
Fingers crossed 🤞
Please can you ask Hornby when we'll get an update in those Phase 3 and 4 announcements such as the Pannier and Castle.Would be good to know when theyre coming abd when we can pre-order.
I’ll add it to my list of questions
Loving the Class 37 - can’t wait for these to be released! Is the HST power/dummy car the in the train set the same as in the current HST yellow/blue train pack? In summary - we always want more, role on the diesel engines!
It looks like the same number, but the pictures show the later roof cowling
Overall I'm quite impressed. Like the look of the J50 and the steam era tank wagons. Would have liked to see more Mk1 variants though, at least a buffet car. I was thinking of getting the existing HST train pack in blue and grey but will now wait for the set to come out as it is much better value for money unless its compromised on detail? It appears to show the power cars with the later exhaust cowelling fitted in the set contents photos as opposed to the current train pack which I believe is modelled as introduced with the roof detail picked out? Like the semaphore signals and the level crossing will be a handy accessory. Signals are reasonably priced. All in all a good announcement and together with existing items due for release should hopefully be an exciting year for TT.
Ohhh good spot! (The roof panels)
@PeachyTT120 It's a bit misleading. It appears to be without the exhaust deflectors on the box artwork but the set contents picture shows it with.
@@robelvery I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 so that I can change the numbers and represent another loco
Liking the Football Pundit look 😊
My lads idea… although I think he thought I’d do a bit more jumping up and down!
@@PeachyTT120 You mean you didn’t 😝
@@East_Mallingford_Railway 😜
Great stuff ! I think some OO modellers (those that hate TT) are jealous :)
Oh you know it! 🤣
J50 🙄 Hornby done it again no front couplings on steam locomotives.
Let’s all hope hornby will issue the 6 pin decoder to go with them.waited long enough.
I’m hoping it’s just been left off of the render. They’d be mad not to fit them both ends
Hi Chris. Are these freight wagons the rehash of the Arnold versions? caroline
They do look familiar don’t they?
Unfortunately nothing there for me. Was hoping fr a 9f but guess I have to wait a bit longer
I think a lot of us are chomping at the bit for a 9F
I’ve ordered a J50 without thinking as it’s a perfect smaller engine. I’ll admit I’m disappointed about the lack of SR and GWR steam along with railway specific stock such as the gresleys but what can you do. They have confirmed other Mark 1s are coming at some point but again, shame there isn’t one now. I know they keep saying ‘more to follow in the year’ but when you have people making choices about jumping scale sooner rather than later, best to get things moving than not.
That said, although it’s a 6 pin, I will be having a look at that J50. Specifically its Chassis. As it should be a ok fit for a couple of SECR engines I’ve had my eye on…..
Absolutely, and you definitely won’t be the only one eyeing up that chassis.
I really like the idea of TT120 and I really want to like it and try it but still not convinced, to be honest that was all a bit underwhelming.
I'll stick with my OO for the time being, if Hornby and TT120 are still around in 18 months or they bring out something that really grabs me, Id be all over it. Its been said elsewhere, wheres the little 060 or small diesel starter sets?
Thats what would get me to get a toe in.
I totally agree with you regarding the small loco sets, I’ve seen today in the catalogue that blue BR 08 is missing… I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that turned up in a set at some point. Maybe the delay in the 6pin decoder is having an impact on their roll out?
i need colour light signals but you will find them useful i guess
Don’t Dapol do some N gauge versions?
Very happy with the announcement but wouldn't have been nice if one or two of the items were available to buy 'now', instead of pre-order.
As soon as their announcement finished, I was on-line with my card in hand.
No instant fix for me 😢
Still positive about the scale though.
Yes I was hoping they’d release the 50 today
Might wait for 6 pins before making a decision the to get one or not
Yes those 6 pins are certainly going to be popular
@@PeachyTT120 got one 08 waiting and the green 08 on order
Do you still get affiliate credit if I use hornby rewards points? Hopefully you do
Absolutely. But of course only on the discounted amount
@@PeachyTT120 enjoy your share of £3.95 from the DFDS container lol, you will get the full amount for 12T tanks lol
@@East_Mallingford_Railway every penny counts! 😝 cheers 🍻
Sadly still nothing to draw me back to active modelling. It’s a nice range but nothing to remind me of my childhood on Southern and Anglian metals.
Yes I agree it’s a shame all those glorious liveries of the grouping era aren’t represented. I was thinking the LNER centric period for Hornby might have lessened with Simon leaving
It may be now, we are probably still seeing the stuff he set in motion before he left. I'm happy with them though being from Hull LNER is my region. My great grandad lost a finger between 2 LNER buffers working in the shunting yard.😮
@@AcidEric01 I must admit I’m an LNER man through & through 😃
I'm getting very frustrated waiting for an update on the GWR Pannier and Castle. I really expected some more detail on availability of these and other phase 3 and 4 items.
Great that Hornby has responded to the request for a small steam loco but almost everything is LNER focused and I have no interest in modelling this railway or region. I'm thoroughly committed to TT but right now I've spend a lot of money in items that I wouldn't have ever bought in OO. The class 50 is the first item scheduled to be that I truly wanted, though i was very happy with the class 08 and HST.
Im very happy to see the signals and was hoping for some to be released, though of course, theyre the wrong type for a GWR modeller.
Yes - re the signals, it was stated that these were used on the LMS/GWR, but they don't look like GW signals to me
I think also the roadway on the level crossing will need a respray if depicting earlier gated years....
Is the hornby microphone really a potato or are they using it incorrectly?
🤫🤫🤫you’ll get me in trouble! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@PeachyTT120 If they are so sensitive they can't be told they need to correct a problem, they need to get off the internet. I'm pretty sure they are supposed to speak into the front of that mic, not the top. Criticism on the internet is necessary. Shame on that one company you are referring to for trying to suppress it.
@@a.squirrel1511 I was joking 🙃
I'm still trying to figure out how big this 45 inch container wagon is 😂😂 just tell is in metric we changed over 50 years ago, especially if you don't know the difference between ' & " .
@PeachyTT120 I got that, but comments are for video promotion, I had a legitimate reason to reply, so I did.
Hi Chris. This may sound churlish but I was a little underwhelmed given the pre-release hype. If you discount the number of different variants of the J50, etc., there didn't seem to be many new models coming out. We wanted to hear about the *models*, not so much the real thing. I don't think 3D models are very useful, they obviously will not be as detailed as the final models and just about everyone knows what a Class 37 looks like - they even showed the real thing in their "museum"! Did the announcer mention whether the Pullmans had working lights? If not, why are they so expensive? I already pre-ordered the level crossing - not through you as I already looked at the Hornby website before I came across this video - sorry! I couldn't see anywhere whether the signals were motorised or otherwise movable (I guess not at the price advertised). Isolating fishplates (rail joiners)? These have been around forever (if not in TT:120 scale).
I get the feeling they want to spread out their “content” over the year, but I hear what you’re saying.
Yes the Pullmans are lit.
I don’t think motorising these signals would be too hard, something Richard @thiswayworks can get onto I reckon
@@PeachyTT120 😉
Hope the 37 isn't only going to have the cowling
I think they mentioned differing versions?
@@PeachyTT120 but how long if they do
until there is a 37 I can respray into a livery I want (not green or blue )it's a gauge il will look at but that's about it
my 08 is lonley
@@paulc8617 I’m hoping to get an interview with Hornby. I’ll definitely ask if I do
Honestly, today's announcement was dissapointing to me. There's still too much focus on northern and midland steam. The lack of variety is what is going to hurt the gauge's popularity. They need to produce some southern and great western steam in my opinion (I'm hoping for a West Country, and a Castle or GWR Pannier Tank to be announced).
I’m hoping it’s deliberate to allow other manufacturers to come on board
@@PeachyTT120 I hadn't considered that 🤔 It's possible I suppose. But I do wonder if what happened with Heljan and their cancelled diesel is still putting the big manufacturers off a bit 😬
It is deliberate as Hornby said so in their Q&A youtube. They picked J50 as it compliments LNER A1,3&4. So LNER / BR NE fans will only have a minor gripe -Gresley teaks missing but can run Pullmans BR Mk.1s instead. They said Southern / GWR deserves some priority. So bet we won't see anymore LNER / LMS for a good while. But don't hold your breath. The class 37 that is designed & 3D mock-up'd will be in our hands in 12-18 months - Summer 2025 with a following wind.
Hornby missed a trick by just outsourcing to random unreliable suppliers in China rather than setting up a local JV like Piko did. See the many videos of Piko's owner visiting their factory and production line in China, chatting to local staff etc.
But that would have required a long-term strategy, commitment and injection of equity capital. Not exactly British strengths. Instead we get the naive Hornby approach of signing a load of ad-hoc contracts in a jurisdiction which is basically the Wild West if your supplier breaches your contract. With predictable results.
Thanks for commenting
the fishplates in the illustration dont work as the rail has no brake. caroline
I’m not sure what you mean Caroline?
I can see Hornby dumping TT by the end of the year.
🤣🤣🤣
With all of the era 3, 4 and 5 stuff, I'm a happy bunny👯. Would have preferred a Jinty, but we do know one is coming eventually along with the Teaks. Signals and a level crossing, Yay🎉. New/reliveries so we can have more rolling stock👍. I hope we get an era 5 class 37🙏. I only hope these come after the 3 duchesses and the associated coaches. A shame there was no news on the 9f, Black 5 and the other stuff already mentioned in brochures.
Yes I’ve not seen the q&a yet. I wonder if that question was asked?
