This is why I'll always respect the late Prof Dora Akunyili when she was DG of NAFDAC. She almost lost her life to syndicates that import fake medicines. Fake drugs reduced drastically during her time.. She threw them out of business..

She was one of the few great Nigerians who truly fought hard for the good of the people.

The last real NAFDAC DG! She was a true patriot.

This is yet another symptom of a wider malaise of corruption on an industrial scale in the country!

God bless the soul of Late Prof Dora Akunyili. That woman faced a lot things but she fought back. NAFDAC was showing real time working in her regime.

😂😅😂😅..... It's a very serious discussion but how Jude starts with a fictional story is so funny...... Chinedu and Kate 😅

This is an important story. I wonder what you find funny to warrant laughing emojis.
There's nothing funny about a couple losing their child, even if it's a fictional story. That's just weird!

You are on point Jude, there is no better way to drive home the point, as a pharmacist Nigerians are very careless when it comes to the drugs they take and were they get their health advice from.

I've been a follower/subscriber of your channel since day one. Recently I noticed a trend of storytelling. Not to take away the hard work you put into your work but the precise, straight-to-the-point, and fact-backed analysis was what brought me here. Maybe a little less storytelling and more nail-hitting that you're known for.@@realjudebela

That's good one JB. how do someone know if these pharmacist is registered? Many hospitals don't have drugs the doctors prescribe tell patients to go and buy outside.even X-ray,they ask the patient to go to their private joint hospital the doctors establish in groups for treatment but don't have pharmacy to get drugs.
Some government hospital don't attend to patients.many lives were lost in government hospital due to no bed,and not attending to in emergency centers.these actitude discouraged patient to go to hospitals provided by the government.the private hospitals are too expensive to bear.
Bro thousands of patients are losing their life due everyday due to poor treatment from these government hospitals

This is yet another symptom of a wider malaise of corruption on an industrial scale in a country like Nigeria.
Reading through the comments section, one notices an abject failure to engage with the key issues in this podcast. That's so typical of the laconic Nigerian mind.
How do you bring about change when the wider society itself doesn't appear to want change? And citizens cannot even engage with the topic in discussion?
That's just embarrassing! The people themselves are a major part of the problem! Be the change you desire and wish to see. Change starts with self.

  • @XY-rh3if
    @XY-rh3if 21 день тому

That's actually wrong. Nigeria is a very highly unregulated society. In order words, you can walk into any pharmacy and buy any drug without being asked any question, how much more a doctor's prescription. It's a very dangerous society to live in due to lack of regulations and the absolute disregard for the rule of law and order.
Based on my experience, I generally just walk into a pharmacy and buy whatever I need to cure my problem because the doctors here are so incompetent. Google reviews are filled with horror stories because of doctor and medical staff incompetence, complemented with substandard and highly unprofessional services
My girlfriend was sold either the wrong thing, a fake drug or who knows what else by a local pharmacy, just for wanting to cure basic menstrual problems. The medication was slowly killing her. So I had to ask to stop taking the prescription and she immediately returned to her normal self again.
Infortunately, fear of misdiagnosis and incompetency is one of the reasons I plan on moving over to a more regulated society in another country of Africa.
