  • Here’s a rundown and overlook on this Kirby Sentria II that’s getting sent to the factory for a full rebuild. My parents purchased this in July 2013, with help from me trading in my first ever Kirby (Gsix) to lower the price significantly. I definitely look forward to how this will turn out. Stay tuned for the after!
    Here is a video Hank’s Garage uploaded of his Diamond Edition before and after it got rebuilt: • Kirby Rebuild Service ...

    I would save the outer bag. It is nice looking and in good shape

      My Mother just told me I should keep the original one as a spare for mine. I can’t argue with that!

      Nor can I. Listen to her. I would keep the emporium and topper as well

    Excellent idea documenting prior to a rebuild. Can you request certain parts be returned to you, especially if they’re any of the original parts/color? Can’t wait for it’s rebuild debut. Thank you.

      Yeah, I figured I’d make a before video. Just so we all know what will get done to the Kirby.
      I’m not sure if they would take requests? I would think they’d at least take requests, even at a bare minimum. My Mom does want a 50ft cord for her Kirby, so they should be able to accept some requests at least.

    Far as I know, they still make the color correct parts for the Sentria 2 except for the belt lifter. They did away with it. The cord might be black, but I have seen some online still at Goodvac. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

    • @KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer
      @KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer  8 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, I am sure it’ll be more correct looking. The parts that are guaranteed to be black are the cord, belt lifter, and the collar, zipper, and clip on the outer bag. That I know. I can’t wait to see either.

      The black cord may be from the g6

      It’ll be an Avalir cord. The Gsix cord has a different design where it screws onto the machine.

    I really wanted to send my Diamond Edition in for a rebuild. But after seeing Hanks DE rebuilt, I really don’t want to be all mishmashed. All I really want is the motor and trans redone and metal polished and I want all the original trim. Wonder if that’s something they’d do, if not, then I’d prefer to keep it as original as it can be.

      Kyle Krichbaum does fantastic restoration work, and can rebuild a Kirby while keeping it original/like original.

    i wonder how My G3 would look coming back from the Factory Rebuild.

    • @KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer
      @KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer  8 місяців тому

      It would most likely come back with the following:
      Newer style G3 bag with no logo, black topper, black zipper, black clip, Avalir emtor. A Black cord, G5 style belt lifter in G3 white with a black sticker. New G3 bumper with no pink pinstripe, or a Sentria bumper depending on if they make the G3 style one still. Maybe a Sentria handle pivot assembly. Maybe a Sentria front axle and toe touch. Maybe an Ultimate G handle grip. Probably Ultimate G tech drive pedals with a black mount piece, since I’m pretty sure they no longer make the white & green pedals. And most likely a new Sentria style transmission with the updated gear ratio.
      And of course, the common wear parts will be replaced (belt, brushroll, fan, etc).
      It’ll be a gorgeous and new machine again, just very unoriginal.
      In fact, here’s a recent example of a Generation 3 that was factory rebuilt:

      I’d say go for it, unless money is really an issue. If a vac shop were to refurbish it, or even you doing it yourself, getting all the parts you need, and whatnot. You may be spending close to what this costs. Might as well have Kirby rebuild it. We just shipped the Sentria II today.

      @@KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer Money is def an issue. its in really good shape other than it needing a new techdrive and just some scratches removed. i did Buff it with some Blue polishing compound to make it more shiny.

      @@kayd3n324
      Ah okay. By the sounds of it, all you really need is a new transmission and transmission belt. And then you’ll be good to go. If you want the scratches removed, I’d say wet sand the metal with several grits. Start with a coarse grit and go all the way up to a really fine grit. Then buff the metal until shiny and smooth.

    my aunt and her Kirby diamond edition just gave up but she had to throw it away it because the Kirby rebuild program too much money to have our Kirby fixed but my cousin will just get another Kirby on her wedding stuff I'll get her another one but she doesn't want to do the the rebuilt program

  • @Benjamin8ball
    @Benjamin8ball 8 місяців тому +1

    Honestly, the Kirby rebuild program is just too much money, it it requires you original contract unless you're the original Kirby owner.

    • @KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer

      We’re the original owners of this machine, so there won’t be a problem there.

      @@KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer I might predict it would the avalir outer bag and it will make that Kirby mismatch. It has to be the original parts. The , transmission may be from a avalir

      They still make the Sentria II bag pattern, just with a black zipper, collar, and clip. I don’t think they would put an Avalir bag on it. That’s too mismatched, even for Kirby.

    So Kirby doesn’t make original parts for the older G series such as mini emptor and cord?

    • @KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer
      @KirbyVacuumCollectorFixer  7 місяців тому

      They’re narrowing the parts down. Every G series gets an Avalir emtor now. Black cord, etc. I’ve heard from some people that they still make Emtor in Sentria II taupe. I hope that’s true.
