The wealth of knowledge here is amazing! A neighbor had all the Nintendo systems, another had Playstation, so I got the sega systems. Mine were the least popular 😂
I love how dense these vids are with information are and how calmly you deliver it in your productions, so needless to say I buckled to floor with laughter at 9:25 'cause I sure as hell wasn't expecting that😂
It's recorded!? No way! I really thought it was put together like with the PS1 startup considering the way it sounds! Correct me if I'm wrong, but why does it seem like the Saturn startup audio is less compressed than the Dreamcast startup audio?
The Saturn's internal complexity is part of what killed the console's viability, not only because it made programming on it to its fullest a challenge, but it also made downsizing the innards to reduce costs particularly difficult compared to the original PlayStation. The Sony PlayStation made extensive use of VLSI fabrication for their chips, combining multiple components into one IC. That had the benefit of enabling substantial reduction of board sizes with successive models; it's amazing how much the PlayStation logic board had physically shrunk from that used in the SCPH-1001 to the one used in the SCPH-9001. For all it was capable of, the Saturn was a hodgepodge of discrete components that didn't lend itself well to scaling down, so the console was very expensive to manufacture and remained that way throughout its market life, even despite newer models reducing the cost, though not substantially so. The problem for Sega: every time Sony could afford to lower the price of the PlayStation, Sega had to eat it by lowering the price of the Saturn to remain competitive. Of course, in the console business, you try to make your money from profits earned from software while selling consoles at a loss to help spurn adoption. But the Saturn's complexity made this approach very painful for Sega in the long run, especially when more developers decided to jump to PlayStation, eroding the Saturn's viability.
Yet another splendid video by Nitrocosm. Bloody hell, the format you do all this stuff in is rather logical and presentation is pretty good! Keep it up man! The BIOS sounds probably make good samples for ambient stuff. [redacted]
Looking at the PS4 but also the original Xbox and the PSP due to their popularity in the latest poll. I still have to do research on these before committing to videos for them but I intend to have videos for these in the near future.
I owned a Sega Genesis, 32X, and Sega CD all attached together.. I still have them too. But I never owned a Saturn or Dreamcast :( I had ONE friend who owned a Dreamcast in high school, we used to love playing those games at his very filthy hoarder house lol.
This is THE ONE!! I always fascinated over how the quads managed to perfectly make the Saturn logo from the same vision point
I love these videos about startup sounds, keep up!
Glad you like them!

Your friends didn't know what they were missing. Or, well, then again... which games did you have?

This is a pleasant surprise! I'm a fan of all things Saturn, so this is just the video I was looking for. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Appreciate it!

Bro we need to see the OG Xbox sound lmao love your videos man
At some point, I will make one for the X-box.
I love this kind of content keep it up ! Oh and what consoles are you doing next?
I'm not sure yet. There's some research into a few consoles to see if there's a way to extract their startups.
@@Nitrocosm could you do the og Xbox please?
@@WindowsXPfan-FNFMix and the 360

Glad you liked it!
Amazing episode thank you so much for your efforts
Glad you enjoy it!
V-Saturn sound is the Japanese original Saturn sound
It was changed on the outside Japan release because it sounded way too similar to the THX Deep Note.
Amazing video. A long time ago I was trying to play console startups on guitar. It was funny cause I couldn't play the high pitch notes
ILOVE THE JAPANESE VERSION SATURN. GOOD MEMORIES
japanese saturn´s startup for me always been better than the startup we received on the west
I just found out that the HI-Saturn startup sound is actually used in a dsi/3ds homebrew called TWilight Menu++.
Yo, I use TWiLight Menu ++ on my 2DS I recently unbricked.
I owned a Sega Genesis, 32X, and Sega CD all attached together.. I still have them too. But I never owned a Saturn or Dreamcast :( I had ONE friend who owned a Dreamcast in high school, we used to love playing those games at his very filthy hoarder house lol.
Ah yes.
The guitar/synth startup.
I should probably try and a recreation of these.
The Sega Saturn is an interesting console to me, though I only care about it because of its various startup screens
I always find myself interested in sega consoles for some reason.
The Satiator is available now for the public if anyone forgot
Warning: Sega Saturn can't do polygons! SS instead uses sprites/Quads!
Japan's sounds very annoying. But it just dawned on me the the melody sounds very similar to Sprach Zarathustra.
