As I have just finished this episode of your journey, (I’m rewatching them in chronological order this time,) I have tell you that, as a 67 year old retired RN, in Operating Rooms for over 35 years, I could sit down, finally, and binge watch your videos for days at a time. Oh, wait. I already DO that. 😂😂😂😂 I enjoy each, and every episode, regardless of the content. You are all, as a family, such an inspiration to others, not just for your DIY, but also, the love you SHOW each other, daily. The way you are all teaching Jonathan how to do things, how to become a responsible young man is heartwarming. Thank you for all of the hard work you put in each, and every day. Watching you from Mexico City.
We all know we can't save everything so we take pleasure in the fact that we can save something! You've saved something and that is a treasure. Thank you!
I discovered your channel last week, am absolutely absorbed in watching it. I find it all so interesting, the grandeur even presently is amazing in the château. The cottage as well has so much character and unbelievable how a year of hard work has been transforming it. Your an amazing family together, each with so much humour which adds to your videos. The 12 days of Christmas was perfect and so deserved. Wanted to add a comment after watching the tour of the other 2 Château’s. I appreciated it so much your sharing the history along with the tour. Amazing job Ash with the narration. Will continue to watch the remaining videos then look forward to your weekly shares. Cheers to you all
Wow that 14th century castle was beautiful. I have an idea 💡 on the face of the balustrade squares you could find moulds of both your last initials and make cement letters and adhere them on the fronts. Your personal touch. I know Ash would love that “just” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glad you mentioned the dogs, LOVE it when you dig a hole and Patrick has to show you how you have to do it properly. His entire body dives in there, snout first then his little legs get going! 😂😂❤️ But the episode that brought tears to my eyes was when you brought electricity to the cottage and went upstairs, Tracy commented on. Some dirt on the stairs...”Little Louis has been on a walk” and you showed a clip of him outside in his tartan coat walking through puddles, very determined on a grey day, checking out his turf. 😘😘😘
Thank you for taking us on the interesting chateau tours. Ash your narrating was great. Such a shame many of these buildings fall into disrepair and lucky some enterprising , hard-working people like you fall in love with them and embark on restoration projects. Well done. Have a good week 🥰
Whilst visiting Europe, castles, châteaux and ruins are utmost on the itinerary. Being Australian, there is just nothing like it here. Thanks for the lovely tours.
Your channel has become my favorite of the chateaux’ channels. I like the way you alternate between the chateau and the cottage renovations. The whole family has become very comfortable in front of the camera and we can see your passion for your rehab of the buildings. Loved this episode in particular because of the abandoned ruin and history. You are so fortunate to have these castles to visit. Maine USA
These two beautiful chauteas must have been dauntingly incredible indeed in their heyday. The music was superb in this vlog. So was the history!!!❤ It was so good to see you two out spending time with each other doing something you love. This was a fabulous vlog!!!!!
If....by chance...you two decide to come visit the American mid-west, you'd be most welcome to visit and stay at my "chateau"...sort of. It's a 5500 square feet brick house built in the mid-19th century. I.'ve lived here for 44 years and spent most of my time and money restoring and maintaining this home. I think I know how you both feel about rescuing a piece of history and preserving it for future generations to enjoy. Thank you both and your family for sacrificing so much. Cheers!
This is such a fun addition to your channel! Thank you for doing this. It goes to show the importance of what you're doing to your chateau so it does not end in ruins.
Ok that opening countdown was awesome. You guys have gotten all fancy, you would think you were professional cinematographers. Thanks for another stellar episode. Seeing the other castle just made you feel better about your renovation, at least you have a roof and walls.
Even tho these old castles are tumbling down, there is something so awe inspiring about them and to let one’s imagination go wild and to take us back to another time.
Good to see you both enjoying yourselves, sometimes you just need time away from others … all work and no play…plus very interesting to see what other castles & chateau are around to restore by someone! All the best to you both Ash & Terry…John 🌈
It’s sad to see the first chateau deterioration. Grateful for your restoring your chateau to its former glory. Always a project to do but it will look magnificent once completed. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Even though these massive buildings are in ruins they are still fascinating. At least you’re saving one. Thanks for sharing your time. Safety glasses are necessary.
😍 TY Ash for the narrative on the old castle. You have the perfect voice for it. The 2nd property château is also so beautiful. Truely so interesting...
I absolutely ❤ this video!! I love history and being American we don't have anything like it here. I've traveled to Spain, German, Italy, France, Poland, Czech and Japan. I hope I can get back that way because I think I was my happiest when overseas. It's truly beautiful 🥰
This was so interesting ..in Canada we don't have the grand history in buildings you do..thank you for taking us along ..your filming was done so well...and I like the voice overs ..
Really enjoyed tagging along with you. The first chateau must have been magnificent in its day (although probably never a particularly comfortable place to live!) After surviving so many centuries, sad that it seems to have fallen into ruin only in the last century or so. Your filming was very evocative. Only Terry could/would rope you into dismantling a balustrade in someone's backyard! But your plans for it are brilliant. Your chateau must be feeling very smug that she has lured your family to her rescue!
This was a real treat for my eyes to see. One can only marvel at the amount of people and human physical efforts it must've taken to build these beautiful structures. Thank you for taking us on a short road trip. You took a well deserved break.
Thank you for taking us on this adventure. It never fails to amaze me how many of these incredible buildings there are in France - I often wonder what the French think of all the people from other nations that come and buy them up and take on the overwhelming task of restoring them. But it is only a drop in the bucket relative to the ones that are slowly dying. I am following Dan Preston, former gardener and still sometime helper at Chateau de LaLande, and owner of his own channel Escape to Rural France. He has taken on an absolute ruin not far from LaLande. His chateau was destroyed by fire - no roof, no floors and trees growing out of the top. His early drone footage had me saying "Dan you need your head read". But only a few months later, with the help of the great Nick the Tree Surgeon of LaLande fame, he has cleared the forest from inside and close to the chateau. In the last couple of weeks they have cleared much of the rubble from inside the building and revealed an incredible tiled floor so beautiful and almost intact that it takes your breath away. I am in my 70's and I hope I live long enough to see what Dan achieves with the place........and with so many of the others like yours that I follow. So inspirational, so brave all of you and I wish I was 20 years younger so I could come and help! Good luck to you all.
Your right eye is swollen, are you haveing an allergic reaction to something? Oh how sad the chateau has been lost, so sad, but yet still very impressive. How wonderful the second chateau is being spared and is being brought back to life. It looks more like what I envision a castle looking like. Patrick is such a spunky baby, loves his digging. I love seeing the wild life and the aerial views very much.
i just love your laughters indeed the family is full of passion and love for each other i am fascinated with the old world coming back to life thank you for restoring this chauteas
Seeing the old ruins of chateau or any once magnificent building always makes me a bit melancholy. I think of all the hands forming each piece of stone and what it may have been like in its heyday. It’s sad that so many have fallen yet as a world, yet we are so fortunate that many remain and that there are people like you with a love and respect for history and beautiful things who find the drive to keep those that remain whole. On another note, Patrick’s coat is beautiful! He’s so shiny! Obviously well taken care of and loved. Another great video!❤️
Love the video...so interesting! I love how you film! (except that I got a bit dizzy at times! LOL!) And your music choice is perfect! These chateaux must have been so beautiful back in the day...and they still are!
Loved this vlog - the tour round the chateaus were captivating; photography superb. I got the feel of the atmosphere of both chateaux. The commentary was really well done. Love your new find - it will be fantastic new addition to the planned entry. Great vlog xxxx
I’m glad I came across this video because Tony’s in there . I know it’s one of your old one but Tony it’s good to see you . I hope your doing well and please hold your chin up we all miss you 💙💙. I was wondering what happened to your eye Terry my goodness take care . No Patrick is to busy digging that thing he likes to help .
So the first one I would love to see back in used. Fix it up. Roofing and flooring. Windows. 20years job. I love the history very much. How are the dogs??? God bless you all and Keepsafe.
❤️🏰 Thank you for the vlog; first castle is too far gone for restoration, 2nd is huge and more of a fortress ( like more fairytale features)❤ nice find ( terrace feature)
Thanks for the tour and history lesson, very well presented. You have so much to do , but nothing like the condition of those chateaus. Thanks again, have a good week !
Wow loved the history commentary Ash? What can I say the photography of these magnificent château’s is awesome Terry thank you 🙏 Love the balustrade Terry ,I have to say though you must always wear eye 👀protection what ever your working on! I hope you got your eye checked out Terry ! Take care 🥰💕
Boys I must say that your little excursion to the 'two chateaus' was pure eye candy to someone that has loved castles since childhood. Terry the angles and pans on your camera shots evoked so much emotion. The music was of course perfect. You have quite a knack for picking perfect music. I could go on and on. Thank you, thank you, thanks so much. Ash I loved the chateau history narration, well done. You love history and it shows. Taking apart the wall at the end? Ash I love your dry humor, 'just another project'... dun, dun, dun. LOL! It will look gorgeous. It may take a bit of doing, but Terry does have a great eye. So much work ahead, and here I am wondering what Ash will plant in the spring. I he has anytime to spare that is. Thanks for sharing the journey with us. Can't wait for more.
Love all your videos and this one was really fun for a change of pace. Thanks for taking us along to see the chateaus, Terry and Ash. Love the wall; cant wait to see you put that puzzle together. So much fun watching you guys; truly a great family.
I really enjoyed this episode. Thank you for taking us on the tour of the area with you. Your filming and editing has gotten absolutely amazing. Thanks to you all !! 🥰
I’ve said it before but again, Terry you could have a second career in the film industry as a cinematographer. You captured the essence of the chateaux beautifully. You also chose perfect music to go with the video.
I feel Terry wears many hats and that is a compliment :) he reupholstered the chairs for his Mother & Stephanie, he has such wonderful ideas & has quite the eye in capturing beauty whether it be filming , refurbishing furniture or working on the Chateau .. adore this family as everyone does.🧢🎩⛑🪖
It's always so sad to see chateaus in ruin, but it's fun to imagine them in their glory. So very glad you are rescuing your wonderful chateau so we don't have to imagine much longer. 🥰
Well the tour of the chateaux with the history of the first one was really interesting to watch. Glad to see you guys had time to go on a "date". Certainly wearing eye protection when chipping is super important. You could wear mountain bike glasses which are easy to wear but will protect your eyes. They feel more like sunglasses as opposed to protection goggles. I thought Tracy should be wearing some PPE when she was sending the bathroom wall. That find dust can't be good for her to inhale. Keep up the great work guys
Please don't worry about accent . My British partner after twenty years still have that wonderful accent so loved and appreciated by our friends and family ! Ben and Damian from Beziers on a rather cold night
Loved, loved, loved this vlog and I look forward to seeing more of your road trips. 😍. Congratulations on the filming of these chateaus , it really was first class, extremely well done. Ash you have to make sure that there are two pairs of protective eye goggles in the boot of the car, just in case 😃. Thankful that Terry is ok. 💗
The balustrades will be amazing! You have an eye for discovering excellent bits. I love that you are searching out used items. The chateaux tours were interesting! Don’t forget that Patrick helped to dig for the Christmas tree! 😊❤️🎶👏🙏🇨🇦
Thanks for the fun guided tours. What monumental undertakings they would be for anyone but a village or a foundation. The cost of renovation and eventual upkeep would be enormous. I'll have to rewatch the episode because I missed when you mentioned where you intend to use the balustrade. I don't think I've ever undertaken a single DIY project that went as planned. Your determination still amazes me. Crack on!
Goodness, what history. So sad it is in ruin ... These castles are so amazing. Thank you for showing and sharing the history! The stone work is amazing.
Justvto let you know that the château in the town of lassey les châteaux is really interesting inside. There is a 3rd the name of which I have forgotten but its only à few walls and you have to cross the farmers cow field to see it. The restaurant does super food BTW.
Just tuned in. What an episode. Artistically and creative filmed like pro's. Voice over very well informed. You ate multi talented. Enjoyed it very much
Wow what an amazing video! It must have been beautiful in its day! Such a shame!! Thank you for the history lesson !! Can’t wait to travel again ! But until then it’s wonderful to have you both traveling the country side!! Thank you both love your videos!! Stay safe from Colorado 🤗
Before you open your doors to guest, you need to get some brochures and maps of nearby tourist destinations, like the towns, restaurants, castles and such.
@@ashleywaters7198 you’re not a saddo at all. My Neil has me watching things like this. Good to be passionate. I’ll look forward to seeing the rest. Bloody work. One day, we hope to be in France too.👍❤️
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the tours of the château in your area. I’ve heard this mentioned and maybe I just didn’t catch it before, but are you also putting in a camping area on your property?
It's okay Terry, I'm known for "just"....whatever as well! If it wasn't for us, where would they find excitement??? Anyway, thank you both for the tour of those gorgeous Chateaus...the history, wow! Your idea for the wall looks wonderful!
Well that was a jolly day out guys. Much needed so,times so well done. Very funny about the “ cold” bathroom 😂. Yes, I also think Ash speaks French - if not his accent is excellante. See you Wednesday guys. 🍷
It’s nice to stop and appreciate the region you live in. I love the wall Terry. You have to be creative and economical renovating a chateau. It’s unbelievable the work and master craftsmanship needed to build those ancient chateau. I heard there are builders who are working on ruins to study the building techniques of the stone masons of the time.
The quality of your video is spectacular! That was a lovely tour. What a good find the wall you had to deconstruct, glad your eye is okay Terry. Your family is brilliant! Thank you for sharing, take really good care of yourselves...that includes your eyes 😊stay safe! Much love Kathy xo 💖

Totally agree it was amazing viewing especially with the history lesson . Loved it all

It’s always so sad these buildings fall into disrepair. There needs to be more of you 😄 to rescue them.
Another Beautiful Chateau, But yours is Amazing, Just a Day Out for you Two , And I’m Enjoying my Trip Out With you 👌👍👏👏👏👏❤️❤️
It was just nice to get out. When it’s only 20 minutes up the road, it’s silly not to!

That’s so cool - I look forward to you visiting around France and the amazing castles
Ash your voice story telling was lovely, well done and also to the photo footage.
Даже в таком состоянии замок красив !Возможно найдётся хозяин и востановит свой вечный дом .
Love the older castle!! Just imagine what went on there….
Love the video...so interesting! I love how you film! (except that I got a bit dizzy at times! LOL!) And your music choice is perfect! These chateaux must have been so beautiful back in the day...and they still are!

Thanks for the tour and history lesson, very well presented. You have so much to do , but nothing like the condition of those chateaus. Thanks again, have a good week !
The ever growing project intresting 🤗
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Wow loved the history commentary Ash? What can I say the photography of these magnificent château’s is awesome Terry thank you 🙏
Love the balustrade Terry ,I have to say though you must always wear eye 👀protection what ever your working on!
I hope you got your eye checked out Terry !
Take care 🥰💕
Thank you sharing the history of the first Chateau, it was beautifully edited and narrated. 💖
Love all your videos and this one was really fun for a change of pace. Thanks for taking us along to see the chateaus, Terry and Ash. Love the wall; cant wait to see you put that puzzle together. So much fun watching you guys; truly a great family.

Thank you Christine :)
It's always so sad to see chateaus in ruin, but it's fun to imagine them in their glory. So very glad you are rescuing your wonderful chateau so we don't have to imagine much longer. 🥰
That first chateau looks so much like Craigmillar Castle in Edinburgh! I had to look twice and make sure you weren't back in the UK!
Well the tour of the chateaux with the history of the first one was really interesting to watch. Glad to see you guys had time to go on a "date". See you in 3 Hours 👌👍👏👏👏❤️🥂
Will see you soon 🥰
thanks for the tour of the chateau- it makes me so sad to think that it will gradually deteriorate to its final demise.
That was a great vlog boys lovely to see the old chateaus great music for the video
Thanks for the fun guided tours. What monumental undertakings they would be for anyone but a village or a foundation. The cost of renovation and eventual upkeep would be enormous.
I'll have to rewatch the episode because I missed when you mentioned where you intend to use the balustrade.

😍 Still not caught up after 3 days of binge watching they do not come up in order. I watched some on TV & most on my cell.

Justvto let you know that the château in the town of lassey les châteaux is really interesting inside. There is a 3rd the name of which I have forgotten but its only à few walls and you have to cross the farmers cow field to see it. The restaurant does super food BTW.

Don't understand why anyone would volunteer to actually get rid of such a beautiful wall statement piece. But fantastic you were able to snap it up.
Before you open your doors to guest, you need to get some brochures and maps of nearby tourist destinations, like the towns, restaurants, castles and such.
I’m working tonight and only about 1/3 way through. Ash is doing a great job as historian. Can’t wait to watch the rest later.👍
Thanks Jimmy! Am a saddo and love all of this history :)
@@ashleywaters7198 you’re not a saddo at all. My Neil has me watching things like this. Good to be passionate. I’ll look forward to seeing the rest.
Bloody work. One day, we hope to be in France too.👍❤️

One big thank you!
Wow you guys rock!!! Loved the old château visit!
Another great video:)
Well that was a jolly day out guys. Much needed so,times so well done. Very funny about the “ cold” bathroom 😂. Yes, I also think Ash speaks French - if not his accent is excellante. See you Wednesday guys. 🍷
Thank you for the tour of properties. Those castles were amazing.
BRILLIANT
I think Ash speaks French because his accent and pronunciation is spot on. I've noticed this before actually. Loving the content 😍😍
Thanks Amira. I only speak a little, but I’m learning :)
