I'll resist writing an essay, but just say this: maybe we shouldn't accuse people of abhorrent, horrific things, unless they actually do or wish to do abhorrent, horrific things. Besides a ton of other reasons it is very plainly visible how much this makes it much harder to hold actual terrible people accountable. Nowadays I have to dig for hours if I want to find out whether an accusation like this is credible (plenty of League personalities who have done HORRIFIC stuff) or if it's just over gd pixels.
I also say this as an aggressively progressive, queer, leftist person. So this isn't some standard 'wahhh just let me be an asshole in peace' defense. It is genuinely detrimental to the goal of improving society to water this crap down over something so harmless.
