Here is a test day from back in June last year. This was part of one of my big training blocks last summer on the road to the cx season. Hope you enjoy 👊
Woah! Interesting stuff with the overlay numbers and commenting on your efforts. That's intense and inspiring. Riders sharing their power data is rarely seen. Thank you for this video.
Wow awesome - especially the 5 min effort gosh you went so deeep🥵 I do enjoy seeing efforts with the power/ figures superimposed (Ed Laverack often does same on his Hill climb training vids) Thanks for sharing - really interesting 👍
And you've got even better! That hill climb you did recently was 500w for 3 mins and you did more than your best 1 min in this video for the first minute.
As you said in the beginning, the race is not won by the one with the best watts, but by the fastest! I am a good example of this, I have 10.1 W/kg, 7.2 W/kg and 6.1 W/kg. Even so, you are in every way a better rider than I am! Great video!
Well done on the video Cam. No doubt that you'll be back to (and above!) those numbers soon. Can you give an insight into the blocks of training that got you there? (number of week's on/easy, how many high intensity sessions per week, sweet spot/VO2 etc). p.s. Enjoyed watching the Shrewsbury race last year
My general training structure is blocks of 3 weeks on and 1 week off. Within the on periods I do 3 days on and 1 day off. I go through different focuses for these blocks, endurance base, vo2 and threshold etc. I think there is a bit too much to go into the specifics of the exact training sessions.
@@cameronmason Thanks for that Cam. Interesting that there are clearly superb results by including endurance, threshold and VO2. I hope things are going well for you.
@@cameronmasonthat's so unfortunate man😭i was really looking forward to seeing you in Banyoles!! Well, like you said, now it's time for recovering... best of luck with that!🤜🏼🤛🏼
I’ve used both. Currently used 2x and a sram 36t at the back. I like the double for more road based rides, bigger gear to push against but slower and more hilly riding I think 1x is the best and more simple option.
No difference really in power on gravel, power is the same everywhere as long as it goes into the pedals. The longer climbs in Scotland are normally off road.
As you say, for cross and MTB these numbers aren’t anywhere near as important as being able to do repeat efforts over and over and riding good lines while hanging out of your ass! That said, nuts numbers.
Most important number: 1151 seconds of entertainment on a monday evening!

Imagine being too fast not having enough road left 🔥
Cameron : hold my sunglasses
Cameron's helmet : again?!
Pretty sure you could get 20 more watts easily on a steady road climb on your 20mins test !
Impressive !
Very inspiring Cameron, great to see after all that effort the numbers have gone the right way! 🥵

Really cool to see you put out this data! Thanks for all the info and entertainment!
Bro your power is amazing but what im more impressed about is the fact you did 2 1 minutes in a row. I would be going home after just 1. 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Haha, I just watched Alex videos today! They are so good and honest, I absoluted loved them.
And you've got even better! That hill climb you did recently was 500w for 3 mins and you did more than your best 1 min in this video for the first minute.
I didn't think there was many 20 minutes climbs around, never mind an off road one!! Fair play looked mint
As always impressive and very enjoyable! And yes,I'm looking out for more with great pleasure!
Some good efforts even with all the midgies around! 😝 Peebles is worth a visit look at those great climbs.
Brillant video. That was hard. Keep training Cam 💪🏻🚴♂️💨💨
Great video. Would love to see a video on your longer term goals and ambitions!
💪🦵🦵Blimey! Even watching you go super hard gets my heart going. Kudos!
Ouh! Nice to see you again Cameron! Hope you get soon in your best and see you here again🙌🏼✌🏼

Those are awesome numbers. But yes, in cycling there are a lot of other factors that make a good bike rider
Hopefully we will see you in baby giro this year
😀 I never get to see your video so early before,YAY 🙌 this was very hard training 🙉
Wow, like young Alberto Contador! Great results, sir! You are really strong 💪👍
Maybe not the best comparison considering, u know
@@elijahkwon422 may be, I meant only numbers at the end of the test, and only. powerful, it's undeniable.
Some epic numbers.. absolute beast and the drop off from your 10 min to 20 min power was hardly anything very impressive!
Great work Cameron 💪🎉

Very good numbers. Congrats
Massive numbers, especially given your weight. Numbers may not be everything but they certainly help!
Impressive watts Cameron!
Such a pro!! Will you be racing in Bayoles this Weekend? I hope to see you there!!🤩🔥💨
No I won’t be racing. I am still recovering from injury
@@cameronmasonthat's so unfortunate man😭i was really looking forward to seeing you in Banyoles!! Well, like you said, now it's time for recovering... best of luck with that!🤜🏼🤛🏼
Crazy how close your 5 min and 20 are
Really impressive💪🏻🔥
Hey Cam, what do you think of the 1x on the gravel bike instead of 2x?
I’ve used both. Currently used 2x and a sram 36t at the back. I like the double for more road based rides, bigger gear to push against but slower and more hilly riding I think 1x is the best and more simple option.
Sweet vid cam! What do you use to get the power overlay on the screen whilst recording the power?
Looks like he used Garmin VIRB
Nakd bars 👌
Doing a MAP test tomorrow, it'll suck and the result will be dissapointing 😋
Very impressive!!!
whats the reason you did it off road and not on smooth tarmac?
There aren’t many 20 min road climbs in Scotland so I decided to do it on dirt roads. But I still needed a bigger climbs haha
Why do you use the tickr and not the tickr 2 ?
I didn’t have the new one at the time
why on gravel? would not it impede you to get a clear outcome?
No difference really in power on gravel, power is the same everywhere as long as it goes into the pedals. The longer climbs in Scotland are normally off road.
Do you use just your 1/5/20min power to set your training zones or do you use CP or Lactate testing in your training?
The 20 min sets my ftp, and all of them are used as base marks to see how I am improving.
Interesting!
Cool content 👌🏻 .... we’ve got similar max numbers .... tho I’m just about 16kg heavier 🤦🏻♂️
same here... ;)
How are you so light it’s annoying I’m 5ft 7” 16 and 65kg
Bruh😂😂 i am more of a sprinter kind of guy so i have a fair bit of muscles on me and i tell you dont worry: im 5'7" as well but at 78kg
ftp of 5.9w/kg !!!!!!! insane power
Holy shit man nearly 7w/kg is World class Level on the World cycling data on 5 minutes
Thanks!
Impressive numbers man! Well done for digging deep.
What's your computer mount?
It’s a Specialized one that came with the stem on my bike. And thanks
Ouch
