- Music Is Magic is a 1935 Fox musical film directed by George Marshall. The movie stars Alice Faye and Bebe Daniels and is based on a play by Jesse Lasky Jr. and Gladys Unger. The movie was Daniels' last American screen appearance before moving to England with husband (also actor) Ben Lyon.
Diane De Valle (Bebe Daniels) is an aging theatre actress who can't deal with getting older. Trying to hide it, she has to come to terms she is being replaced by a younger actress. She has to defeat the much younger Peggy Harper (Alice Faye) for a role of a young woman in an upcoming stage production.
Thank you for the Alice Faye movie. I adore her.

My oh my! They should make movies like this again.
This is just so swell! Bebe's role reminds me of 42nd St....prima donna that redeems herself in the end. Kind of like this movie, Alice Faye's movie career was just getting started and Bebe was winding down before going to England.
Oh this is wonderful! Keep these long-hidden Fox gems coming, especially the early Joan Bennett ones like Hush Money and She Wanted a Millionaire, and that elusive Charles Farrell/Bogart film Body and Soul, please!
One of the last films under the Fox Film name; the studio would merge with Twentieth Century Pictures late in the year and would become Twentieth Century-Fox until it's sale to Disney in 2020. Fox didn't make many musicals until Shirley Temple came along, and they borrowed a few players from Warners to make this one.

Mais un excellent réalisateur regardé pour en jugé par vous mêmes.

The Mitchell and Durant comedy team is really bad in this flick. They were in a couple of other Alice Faye films. Do not know why though.
I dont think Alice was a star then.
The so called comedy act is atrocious.
Mitchell and Durant. In the 70s, Mitchell became part of "The New Three Stooges" with Joe De Rita and Mousie Garner.
Aw, come on....kind of remind me of the Ritz Brothers a little over the top though.
