Nah when conor went into boxing to fight mayweather and then take nearly 3 years off from the ufc was the beginning of the end. I would have liked conor to be active leading up to this fight and it would have been different. Conor hadnt fought for over 2 years before this, he done okay considering. EDIT: I dont think any amount of training or being active leading up to this would have changed the outcome because khabib is too good of a wrestler but we'll never know.
Not much different. Chad Mendes took Conor down easily and controlled him well and this was before the Floyd fight. If Chad had a full camp he would have never gassed out in the second round. Khabib is levels above Mendes so it was no surprise he did what he did to him.
