- Magic spoon has exploded in popularity, but is the hype warranted? let's review the product and see if the flavors are good, and who I recommend buying this cereal. In this video, we are testing the magic spoon flavors, peanut butter, blueberry, fruity, and cocoa.

3:05 Fruit (6.5/10)
3:43 Blueberry (8/10)
4:24: Peanut Butter (5/10)
5:20 Cocoa (didn't rate) "Not for me"
Thanks!
I just tried the fruit flavor it was very good.... tasted and smelled like fruity pebbles but it has 0 sugar but 13 grams of protein!? what black magic is this? @@ScienceBasedFitness
Lol, I believe it's sweetened with monk fruit. It adds a sweet flavor, but the body doesn't break it down, so yeah, that's how you get 0 sugar, lol
Just got a box. Spent $10.99 at the store for one box. Opened it took the bag out and it was half full. Never again.
Yeah, disappointing to hear. I feel like they need to leave space for the bag to expand. But it's just too expensive to make a part of your everyday life.
I agree 100%....i wanted to try the cereal because of my diabetes and i really miss having cereal at breakfast....$10.00 a box...i was able to get about 2 1/2 bowls from one box. I will not but this product again. They are just taking advantage of people when they expect that kind of price for a cereal that is suppose to be healthier.
Grocery outlet has them for $4. Depending on location in country
In order to not get this surprise ever again I suggest looking at the per kg price on the product.
bro there's a thing called "net weight" on every food packaging in every developed country
Great review! Second review I've seen that ranked blueberry first (although it doesn't look like most people have rated most of the flavors yet.) Can you do an updated review?? They have 12 now, including the fall flavors!
I bought the peanut butter. I use half whipping cream and water with a little liquid Splenda. Not bad and doesn't raise my blood sugar. Only down side is it's $10.00 a box for a small box, but nice to have a bowl of cereal every once in a while.
I really appreciate the science-based approach. I'm pretty familiar with the natural sugar substitutes, but I'd still love to see you give an overview of the latest data on them, including which have negative health concerns, which actually spike blood glucose, etc. I'm guessing Allulose and Monk Fruit will come out on top in terms of health and taste, although monk fruit alone doesn't seem to add enough sweetness. I love allulose especially, but it's rarely used compared to erythritol and stevia.
I had half a script written on sweeteners. Honestly, it got so overwhelming. There was so much data and conflicting data reviewing it that it is challenging. Although hearing people want it makes me think I'll have to finish it! Appreciate the comments!
I have tried the fruit flavor. It is very good. The problem is that the box is the same size as other cereal boxes that hold twice as much cereal. A box of MS holds around 7 ounces of cereal, which honestly is about two bowls for me (nobody really eats the recommended serving size). It is an excellent (albeit expensive) healthy replacement for the unhealthy sugary cereals.
Good take!
Yea I should read the serving size for MS when I purchase it again. Damn if only cvs had it because I get some good coupons there. Target has it and sometimes target has good coupon offers that one can apply to MS.
"No body really eats serving size", yeah or pays attention to them, let alone understands how it all functions in the human body. That's why we have an obesity problem in the US. If more people bought the healthier stuff it would be cheaper. But no one wants to eat boring food and sacrifice mouth pleasure, or they have turned poor eating or over eating into a coping mechanism.
Cereal in general isn't that good. Just eat oatmeal, 100x better and less complex for your body to digest.
1lb of ground turkey roughly 3-5 $, around 900-1000 calories. Microwavable meal, 4-5$ per container(one meal) 400 calories.
I hear people say healthy food is too expensive. When really a lot of processed food is more expensive, both on your body and wallet. Its they think they have to buy all the bougie brands of health foods to eat healthy. Or they are intimidated by whole non to limited processed foods because they have eaten at restaurants and ready to eat stuff so much, they have no idea where to start when it comes to preparing a single dish, let alone making food for a week.
Meats>eggs>veggies=>fruit>grains/oats
that's in order of quantity. After buying enough calories for with that scale, if you enough money, also buy nuts(not peanuts they are legumes).
Should really just cut out cereal altogether or treat it as a dessert snack you have here and there.
Plus added benefit of oatmeal is you can use whatever spices you want, so way more flavors.
Its all about nutritional density , essentially, quality over quantity.
I spent $11 at the store for a box. I got home and poured one bowl of cereal and the box was gone.
Sounds about right lol
Great review...I just ordered a build your own 6 pack, and some cereal bars. The high protein and the natural sweetener combo used is what piqued my interest, in addition to it being keto friendly, so this cereal "chex all the boxes" for me (see what I did there?). That being said, I normally do not trust anyone who does not appreciate chocolate, but I will make a rare exception in this case, because you consistently provide solid advice elsewhere. I'm very curious about the blueberry flavor, since I have yet to find a cereal, coffee, vodka, candle, or hand cream that suggests the taste or smell of blueberries.
Hahahah pure gold this comment 🤣. Even though I'm not a chocolate fan I'm very happy you can see past my flaws lol! Appreciate the comment.
Ive tried 6 flavors so far and my favorites are blueberry muffin, maple waffle and smores. My worst were cocoa and peanut butter. They were so bland and didn’t get better after eating for a few minutes. Not sure how they are so popular!
I got a four pack of frosted, peanut butter, pumpkin Chai, and cookies cream, I tried the pumpkin and peanut butter and to me they both taste great! Better than I expected!
Peanut butter threw me. I didn't feel like it was as good as blueberry
It’s at our local grocery outlet for $.99 a box
I got a box of 6 but ive only tried the blueberry muffin so far and to be honest it taste like when you pour more captian crunch in your milk that already had captian crunch in it and then the milk taste double captian crunch as it contains 2 generations worth of flavor. I honestly wouldnt mind if all 6 flavors i got were the blueberry
This is the best description ever!!!
I liked the fruity. It was full of flavor to me. I didn’t like peanut butter either. Haha. But I like peanut butter, just never like peanut butter flavored stuff.
Magic spoon cereal is made with ground crickets. I don’t hear anyone disclosing this. You are eaten Ng a 10 dollar box of ground insects and it’s not being disclosed on the box .
This is not true, a simple Google search, or reading the box will clear things up for you.
I love chocolate/cocoa- but not this cereal... It tasted stale & had a weird chewy but crunchy texture. 🫤 Also quite expensive for cereal. 🫰🤑
I think bc it's not a grain, ypur right it has a weird stale texture
Gonna order a 6 pack. I said to myself this year I’m just gonna stick with basic Special K, Oatmeal, and protein shakes for my fair breakfasts but I’ve gotten so f*cking bored of them
I've been seeing them at Target lately.
@@ScienceBasedFitnessI also spotted them there but they only had basic flavors, their online selection is pretty interesting
@@ScienceBasedFitnessI really, REALLY like it tbh, I give it like an 8.5 /10
PB is my favorite box lol
The review was ok, but he forgot to give the cocoa flavor a 1-10 taste rating.
My B
I bought 4 boxes for $2 at Grocery Outlet Feb 20th 2024. The cinnamon was good, the cocoa didnt have flavor.
Funny I really liked the fruity one I feet it was very close to fruit loops….. blueberry had a weird flavor to me like diet blueberry muffin lol definitely wouldn’t buy again.
Soo yea these reviews are difficult since we clearly have very different taste
Yeah, it's hard to convince people on the flavors
I need to make a part 2 and try some of these new flavors. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
@@ScienceBasedFitnessplease do!
Magic Spoon's magic is brought to you by the power of GMO. Yes, Magic spoon is a frankenfood!
Does GMO food have less nutritional value? I'm not being condescending, I'm genuinely interested. I've never looked up the science behind it.
It has bio engineered food ingredients
Is that bad
@@ScienceBasedFitness yes
Fruity is the closest to the real thing. Frosted is ok, cocoa is ok. Peanut butter is gross. Blueberry is eh .. not my favorite.
Cinnamon muffin is decent.
One thing i dont like is how it sticks to my teeth.
Right, like how do u mess up peanut butter?
its mostly milk protein......meh.
i hate it with a flaming passion that their nutritional value is always given is arbitrary "serving sizes".......who, beyond a small, child eats 38 grams of cereal?
in my opinion its just to confuse the customer, and shed your products in a better light than it actually is.
If you want it low carb, you can't use it with milk, right? There is no 'healthy' cereal. It is for starvation prevention. Eat real food that has actual nutrition.
Ultra filtered milk is not too bad in terms of carbs, esp for the protein involved. Darigold Fit Milk, Fairlife, etc.
Getting protean out of cereal is absolutely impossible. There's more protein in the milk because the milk has other things in it allowing the protean to have a higher bioavailability.
Contains bioengineered ingredients-read it for yourself
Bioengineered foods don't bother me? What does that mean?
Aren’t most foods nowadays bioengineered
So? What’s your point? There’s nothing inherently wrong with bioengineering. It’s like the internet: it can be used for good things and it can also be used for bad things. It’s just a resource.
@@brokensymmetry1874 k enjoy your frankenfood
One of the creators of this product looks like he has a hitler mustache lol. Saw my first add for it, and the sides of his mustache dont grow in thick enough, and the center part of the stache is super thick, looks straight outta WW2...
Better not have kids..Its ok. Goid texture but dear lord its 10.00 a box at the cheapest. They also dont tell you the box is only 7 ounces!! That's about $22.00 a pound! Id rather buy steak and lobster. Lol No really..This is for younger single people during their health conscious period..lol i think i got cinnamon? It was bla..
They want you to buy a large assortment..lol
Not Worth $23.00 a pound! Ill buy real Kona coffee for that amount. lol
ive heard its super nasty
I won't say it nasty it's just not ur typical cereal. I could see some people liking it more. But it has a stale taste.
It’s nasty. I’d rather eat my own bowel movements.
This stuff is nasty. The box tastes better.
cocoa is terrible
Don't listen to this man. There's nothing decent about any of these. It's barely a bowl per box, thru all taste the same once the vegetable spray flavor wears off. 5\10 would be the top score for me of any flavor. Dreadful stuff.
Not mine I buy extra vegetable flavor 😋
