FD IRWINDALE, Fun, Motivating, But A STRUGGLE.

- What an interesting weekend. We had a couple small car troubles with the setup in the beginning, but after the practice day we had figured it out. Then we had a plan for qualifying so that we could get our championship contenders early in the round to take a risk and try to knock them out early... Everyone scored so poorly that my 69 score qualified me like 13th or something! Never has this ever happened. We battled our way up to top 8 where I got hung up on the wide line leaving the bank and couldn't drive down soon enough, putting me on the inside of IC1. Matt didn't do it on purpose, it happens, just sucks to go out that way. There went the championship. This year was awesome tho and I had a ton of fun driving. I feel like I really have my style and aggression balanced pretty well, But had some bullshit calls and situations through out the year that isn't really in my control. Ill win one someday, it just wasn't our time for things to line up.
Fd really needs to get their judging together, pretty disappointing seeing some of the calls they make
Like, Formula Drift is lucky to have the teams and drivers they have, since the organization and judges are really poor, 0 consistency, they don't even follow their own rules.
In a way, I hope that Clutch Kickers gains enough traction to put FD on their back foot, where maybe will FD will start taking things a bit more seriously.

Hands down one of the the top 5 drivers out right now. Not just fd but all 4 wheeled motorsports. The way you can command the the car to act right now and the ability to make these rapid fire decisions in the moment is some major skill. Im hoping I can get a chance to drive with you or get an up close point of view at some point this year during one of the events Im sure youll be at. Can't wait for the opportunity, and keep on keeping on sir🤙

ya I'm worried myself there where to many shit calls last year Adam got robbed at long beach odie got robbed once there where a few others that had very bad calls that I can't remember thank God cause I want to forget last year

idk if i missed something in this Essa match but that felt like run them till our guy(essa) wins. glad you wasnt gonna give it and just kept pushing harder and harder.

I can usually see the judges perspective when people call bs on them but there were some inconsistent calls that round

I know I’m late but your wheel felt dead because the track width like you said. In combination with too little Ackerman & A little Caster ( I doubt too much you’d just feel limited) i think too much scrub radius for the amount of lock. I saw you fighting this at Long Beach..
Your inner tire is “shrinking” into the chassis towards max lock & your outter tire is raising.
You’re doing another form of jackknifing you know when you run around a corner too fast & you put your outer leg out to make the corner well you have your inner leg out also 🤦🏾♂️.
Imagine if you slipped with your outer leg in the process then you’d have to squat further down & bend your inner knee or bust a split before falling forward or backwards.
Literally saw it happen.

If you want front grip dial back the ackerman & dial your “soft lock” back 5degress it’s for safety & backwards entries only go for big angle mid run if you start the run on a perfect line turd I wanna see ya take this year 🥵😵💫
Only other way to fix it with your unlimited budget is to make the Caster adjustment that’s on a Mantis angle kit, by relocating the lower caster angle pickup point… (Where the knuckle connects to the lower control arm) if desperate.

Still gets me chapped with the Essa battle. I mean how many times did you have to win… to win…
Still not happy with the Field battle and the zone calls especially. Let alone the failed starts on Field.
It is what it is but I certainly did not like the calls at Irwindale at all. So many fans feel the judging was all sorts of fucked this past season. That big ass Toyota trailer rolling with FD didn’t make the fans feel to peachy either. It’s crazy how the Toyota teams had some controversial favorable calls all season too.
On top of it all I think it’d be cool to see FD incorporate a fan vote. color cards in the stand red vs blue type deal. Hold up the card to see what the fans think. could do it with promo calendars or whatever.
Unfortunately fan vote would be a popularity contest, I understand judging is hard but this is professional drifting and I would there would be more consistency.

I think its an issue caused by slow motion. Looks like they did the best fx they could with what hardware they used.
