Switching From Sony Back To Fujifilm

- I recently picked up a Fujifilm X-T4 after owning a Sony A7iii for 6 months. In this video I talk about the reasons why I switched and why it may be a good choice for you as well.

If I where to move to full-frame my choice would probably be Nikon Zf. The ability to manually focus with face/eye detect (green box and everything) is pretty amazing (though only supported on MF lenses with contacts like the Voigtlanders). Specifically: Zf + Voigt 40mm f1.2 would be my dream setup. Alas: it's waaaaay out og budge for quuuuiiite a while, but maaaaybe in some years time.
Also, like I've said previously: the X-Pro3 (given your priorities) despite being a great camera doesn't seem like the best choice for your needs. I wonder if you'd ever switch if you started out on the X-T4 (or X-H1 for that matter). I just recommended X-T4 to a friend who wanted a photo/video hybrid and he's extremely happy.
As for making photo fun: yeah, I've considered the A7c becaues of it's performance… but when I tried holding it in the store I just felt so uninspiring. I think how a camera makes you feel is very important (and subjective, for some Sony makes them feel great and want to take photos). I always tell people who are interested in photography to simply go to a camera store and see which camera that looks cool to you and feels good to hold. That's the same advice a lot of guitarists give to beginners to. (Though, I also tell beginners specifically to always get a camera with marked dials… which in practice means Fujifilm most of the time since so few others sadly do that).
Anyway, cool to hear about your journey. :)
100% the way a camera makes you feel is important. At first the Sony felt good but overtime I began to understand how people say it's more of a computer than a camera. That Nikon and voigtlander set up sounds amazing, might have to try and save up for that at some point as well!
I want a camera that weighs less than my Canon 80d. That is great with low light. That has some kind of IS. That focuses FAST. I don't need perfect video. I want to shoot hi res still images that have as wide a tonal range as possible and I probably want a USED body because I am primarily a fine art photographer and don't have that much money. I don't much care about the name of the camera that will do these things for me. No point and shoot or "bridge" cameras need apply.
Any hope/ideas?
Get a Sony A7iii if you're wanting all that, they are amazing cameras and are brilliant in low light! Plus you can get a used body for under 1k
@@taranspictures Under 1K? I understand and thank you. I can get some early Fuji mirrorless for under 500. I am a working professional though, at 75 is pro bono for local non profits or personal fine art projects
If you're needing good low light performance then early Fuji models aren't that great
@@taranspictures thanks
I hope the popularity of the x100. Sony and Canon are gonna release their own rangefinder-ish style or more compact vintage style point n shoot cameras. I really love rx100 for its size and ergonomics and power.
It would be really cool as you would have the super high tech of Sony and canon and then the style and aesthetics of Fuji but to be honest I doubt that would happen. They seem to focused on releasing the same cameras over and over with slightly different specs
audio sounds great to me zero issues whatsoever
Hmmm very strange
@@taranspictures Nah, it's definitely tinny
Yeah I think I may have messed something up in audition, I tested it out with headphones and it sounds quite harsh on the ears
Interesting, I wanted to upgrade from ZV1 to a6700, but decided to try x-s20. Sony looks good, but fuji somehow always look amazing. (+ no green skin tones)
I think Fuji just feels better as well. The A7iii was a bit more comfortable thanks to the bigger grip but the X-T4 just feels right
Hope you are feeling better!
👍
Why not the xs20?
I know nothing about it so I hadn't considered it
Oi, Boss! Audio was really low and bad in this Video :(
That's strange, it's fine for me?
@@taranspictures sounds thin and muffled, both on in ear headset and phone speakers. Tested with other videos and they sound good, but I really had to crank up the volume on yours and the sound quality wasnt as usual. No idea what is wrong :( I hope other viewers can chime in as well
Very strange, I'll have to look into it
Audio is just not all that bad. Sure there is a fair bit of harsh essing and sibilance, but that's not that bad.
Audio sounds crispy
In a good way or bad way😂
@@taranspictures in a good way :D
and you chose a7iii? it's a dinosaur by now
Just because it's a bit older doesn't mean it's not any good. That camera was the talk of the town just a few years ago and time doesn't make the camera any worse
I mean yeah if you cant take a decent photo then blame it on the camera being old.
