I agree Ben coming down the grade from Mammoth into Bishop is one of the most beautiful spots in the eastern sierras. Mt Tom watches over that amazing fertile valley . It can get super windy in that area heck one year we saw a guys little 12 foot aluminum boat flip over and yard sale all over the highway. We pulled over and helped the guy pick up his motor and gear. He didn’t have enough weight in it . I’m sure he learned his lesson. Anyhoo great video once again👊
16:18 These are the times where you'd be just as well off to drive down to Mojave and pick up CA-58 toward Bakersfield. Somebody screws up on CA-178 and you are S.O.L. for however long it takes to clear the road. Adds a lotta distance to take CA-58 but it's worth it, especially if it's hot out; at least you're movin' and not just sitting there.
Ben, I wish that I could’ve seen the oasis that was the Owens Valley before Los Angeles cleverly bought up all of the water. Back when Owens Lake was a natural oasis. I hate the LADWP !!!!! and how Mulholland and his team destroyed what the Eastern Sierra used to be. The city that I grew up only survived annexation by the city of Los Angeles because they had their own water supply.
@@JanisLCThey brought huge orchards close to the growing cities until they decided that they could make a fortune tricking those farmers out of their land so that they could then build huge bedroom communities in Los Angeles’ adjacent valleys. Or something like that. My family moved to Los Angeles from New York City and Chicago because they fell in love with the climate. I got to inherit horrible smoggy skies in the 1960’s. I had better shut up now before I get roasted.
Next time youre up top at Mammoth give us a peek at the new big house with the view they are building. Its another crews build but maybe the site boss will let you walk it. Been curious.
Thanks for the trek into Paradise ..
Great to see you boys heading in the right direction.

You and your crew are very good at many different trades, that's impressive.

I totally agree with you. One of the most corrupt acts of LA to this day. How they took the water was shameful.
