- Hello everyone! 💜
My name is Rice and I work for a life science tech startup as a sales development representative (SDR). As an introverted biology major, I never thought I would find myself working in tech sales. For anyone who is also interested in working in tech sales, I hope this video helped shed a bit of light on what tech sales actually is~
Love,
Rice

I just applied to a start up company as a SDR. I don't have experience specifically regarding it. I do have a degree and 7 years experience all together within starbucks and selling frozen yogurt back in high school. I'm a shift manager at starbucks (past 4 years). anyways, this was really great to watch because I'm really interested in moving up professionally and there's not many videos out there explaining what SDR's do on a daily basis. In the meantime while waiting to hear back from my application, do you have any suggestions on what I can do to gain some knowledge/learn before I get the job, hopefully? :)
Aww thank you so much for your support~ Im still really new to youtube so it means a lot 🥲 💗 When I applied for SDR roles (with no prior sales experience) this is what I did: (1) know the product and show your ability to articulate it value & tie this into your own experience. (Example: you apply to Salesforce as an SDR, show you understand the importance of efficiency and customer relationship management. Perhaps its something you can tie into your experience as a shift manager~)
(2) Show interest in the product (ideally with a personal story). This really helped me to get my job because the interviewer also came from a similar life science background as I did. Its great for building rapport!
(3) In general, I also look at the job description beforehand and make sure that everything I say relates somehow back to the qualities they are looking for. (I personally think SDRs should be: unafraid of rejection, persistent, likes to talk to people, great communicators (speaking and written communication), etc.)
If you give me more context about what type of sales your applying for perhaps I can try to give you more specific advice~ Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try my best to answer~ I know this reply is long af, but thank you for stopping by my channel~ 💗
@@ricezhangg Wow! thank you so much for all the advice. This is SO incredibly helpful omg
@@vlogsbydeeaannnaa so happy for you that you found a position that you suits your interests! Best of luck with everything ❤️ I really hope you get the job and become a fellow SDR ✨🙋♀️
Best of luck with your next application! Let me know if you ever have any questions in the future! You can do it~ 💪
What did you study to get this job and is the pay good
I was a bio major! In terms of pay I think its so so 😂😂 base is kind of low but commission is usually decent so it highly varies depending on the individual!
