oo that shot at 5:48 ... tons of great shots in here. Lenses look great and I do love how compact they are. something so pleasing to me about spherical glass with some subtle character
ratchet strapped the camera into the trunk of a suburban. was perfect bc I wanted the camera really locked onto the car that it was in. felt kind of connected to the road.
such a great location. we played it as an old pharmacy, took only a few hours to do all of the set design. was perfect. love it. Maine is a magical place.
That first opening shot reminded me of "Prisoners" and said damn thats a theatrical ass shot, then seen its shot on the Alexa Mini LF...and it all made sense and the grading is super realistic, props.
Great video! The Nisi's really punch hard for their weight/size. Killer combo that i've been waiting for since my early career years of filming with the Samyang/Rokinon VDSLR lenses.... sold them and bought a full kit of these.
mini LF ratchet strapped into the trunk of a suburban. I like the feel of the motion when the camera is really locked onto the car that it is in/on and worked perfect for this. it was very tightly locked into position. didnt even need to touch it outside of focusing.
@@BlaineWestropp1 I agree. Gimbals are fun and all, but the feeling of movement gives it LIFE. I just wouldn't expect such a smooth picture. No micro jitters or anything. I'll have to give this a try. Thanks for everything!
I think being in a large vehicle like the suburban helped. It was very tightly strapped down with I think a piece of cardboard between the bottom of the camera and the floor of the trunk. Also, not super fast speeds, and fairly smooth roads likely helped.
These are my favorite lenses=) Funny enough, I posted a video of the Nisi Athena 40mm on the Blackmagic Pyxis. Shot it at 28th on the Hudson River. I havent' posted on YT in forever. It's test footage to compare Davinci Resolve render settings versus what UA-cam's compression actually does to it. 1:40- I love how suspenseful the music becomes over handball. I'm starting to think you place easter eggs in all your vids. lol.
Shot with these lenses on a short film last week, they’re great. I love this handheld style (coming from the perspective of someone who mostly sticks to tripod or dana)
Hey Blaine I know you not a Nikon guy, but have you ever tested the Nikon Z8 with Nisi Athena lenses or any other CineLens with the Nisi Z to PL adapter.
@@BlaineWestropp1 Ah that would be super sick if you could get ahold of a Z8 with some Cine lenses...I wanna get the Z8 pretty soon. As it has the RAW N-LOG and ProRes
The lenses are cool and all, but you went to Maine to film something? Which part? I live in Maine and find it so cool when people film here, there's so many beautiful spots!
love Maine. we went to Hallowell. loved it. I also lived in York for a few years when I was younger. stopped by long sands beach on the way home. that is where the black and white photos were taken. so many beautiful spots all over the state.
@BlaineWestropp1 okay that's awesome. I live in Bangor at the moment but will be moving down to Augusta later this year. I just gave you a follow on Instagram as well!
theyre nice but its crazy that there are just no depth cues outside of the dof. Maybe the falloff is just too symmetrical or bitey cos everything else about them seems well thought out.
they are quite even across the whole image in terms of focus. this could be where the price comes into play. maybe their tunes series (which id also like to test) has more depth cue. I am not sure though
nice! those lenses seem legit! ...as always, enjoyed your video ... cheers mate.... having said that: seems like you are another DaVinci Resolve using content creator that is ending up with mono music in the video (accidentally?) ua-cam.com/video/Ok-QiB6OdhI/v-deo.html
Haha thank you. And yes, nice ear.. my audio tracks were all over the place, i don’t spend too much time on that half of the timeline 😬. I will watch your video. Thank you!
@ ha! 😉 well with resolve you have to be careful in which track you drop you Clips and Audio and stuff … nothing to serious but music and sound fx sound thin and dull 😅
@@BlaineWestropp1 Cooke, Zeiss, Leica's. I'd rather get a set of old Contax Lenses than these Athenas. Their rendering reminds me of Viltrox mixed with Rokinon.
Came for the Saab, stayed for the music and nice shots.
Same. The Saab looks so damn interesting and has so much character.
hey Luke! the Saab is a gem. looks so nice on camera :)
such a beaut
Bro started a youtube video like a serial killer movie. Dope ❤
heheh glad you appreciate
Clicked because I thought this was gonna be a Saab-video. Beautiful shots and editing, most engaging gear review I think I've ever seen. Thank you!
Hey thank you. More Saab footage coming soon
easily the best camera youtuber, the tracking shots and editing are insane
thank you thank you :)
Love these lenses! Been shooting with them for almost a year now
nisi gang
You have to rewatch the video 2nd time as the visuals are so good
facts!

Yeeep agreed!
the pacing and the vibes of this are so on point
Thanks so much :)
You should do a video on how you captured the rollers of the Saab. Footage looked super smooth.

beautiful work, beautiful lenses. been waiting for this one for a minute, did not disappoint
Thank you :)
Shots look bloody good! cheers for checking these more affordables out for us
Thank you. I like them!
first time ive seen someone make these lenses look really nice, congrats!
Thank ya!
Dudeeee, the stuff from Maine is sick. I love that interior location.

5:55 is 👌Let me know when I can check this out!

Love prisoners. Very real looking. Thank you :)
Never misses ❤ 💪🏽
Yessssss, I've been waiting to see these! Your "not-so financial advice" didn't save me from buying them....... so stoked.
😂 love them
Dude you have such a great eye! I always look forward to you vids
hey thank you so much :)
Wow, those locations!!!
Love them!
I wanna see a film with your vision one day
Me too. And I’m workin on it. Promise it’ll be a banger.
Perfect video for these bro, thank you. Have had these on my radar for a while and this video told me everything I wanted to know.
thank you! I like them!
wow. it was hard to tell when the old henry stills stopped and yours began. props B
thank you, love this :)

beautiful Saab 900
I'm just here for the Saab.
its a stunna
Great video. I was curious how you were controlling the focus?
hey thank you. for the car footage I had my hand on the lens barrel. for the film I had a motor on the lens. handball had hand on the barrel.
i have absolutely zero business watching this video but here i am
Glad you’re here
Fire video man. This looks surprisingly good for the price. How would you characterize the look next to something like a Sigma Cine Prime?
That push in @ 3:34 👌👌👌
one of my favs
absolute wow!
❤️
As usual…..relaxed but HAAAAAARD !!!!
I love this description. Adding to my notes. Thank you!
What setup did you use to follow the Saab?
I also own a set of Athenas. Chef's kiss. Also, this might be the only UA-cam channel I really watch. This and Sesame Street reruns.

about to order doubles, but probably triples, of the Athenas
😂🫡

😎👌
😊😊
great video.
thanks Deon!
Nuts frames bro. Athenas are also super hot on s35! May need them to drop a 28mm before I dive in
Thank ya! Love a 28. Also love a 25…

@@BlaineWestropp1maybe it’s the grade but the colors look very crushed and grayish to me

what lenses do you like?
@@BlaineWestropp1 Cooke, Zeiss, Leica's. I'd rather get a set of old Contax Lenses than these Athenas. Their rendering reminds me of Viltrox mixed with Rokinon.
Love all 3, and Contax. I have Contax (the 28 and 135) and love them. This is where one of the 4 aspects of the Athena’s comes into play, the price.
@@BlaineWestropp1 I have those two. In a similar budget, do not underestimate the 50 1.7. I love it.
