PETER HICKMAN BMW HP4 RACE | IOMTT | Chin Camera full lap!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 лют 2021
- It’s here!! The full lap from the chin camera mount 🤪✊🏻 here’s some facts and figures about this video 👇🏻
▻ Bike: BMW HP4 Race, carbon frame and wheels - 10kgs lighter than my usual Superbike!
▻ The bike was brand new the day before with 0 miles on it (the engine was run in on a dyno)
▻ This is Lap 2 of the 2 demo laps that I did on the BMW HP4 Race - I had never ridden it before.
▻ The start of the lap is steady - it is a demo lap after all!
▻ The sunlight is very low as the lap is done late in the evening after the sidecar practice - when the sun blocks the camera it’s exactly how I see it too, i.e I’m flying blind sometimes - notice at Greeba Bridge I need to sit the bike up as I can't see the apex/wall!
▻ I look down at my left foot at Glen Helen twice, this was because my foot had slipped off the peg, I was checking for oil - there wasn’t any.
▻ There are “slippery surface” flags showing at Milntown through to Schoolhouse corner, which is why I’m slow through this section.
▻ On the mountain mile I slow down very early because I see the Yellow flag waving ahead, you never know what these flags mean but they are a warning, so I slow down, normally I would still be flat out past where the sidecar is parked up on the side of the road!
▻ A lot of the wheelies are because I’m just having fun!
▻ The lap speed was 118mph average - 19 mins and 9 secs… just think how the 135mph looked at 16 mins 42 secs….
A big thanks to @bmwmotorradfor the chance to ride this awesome bike!
Thanks to all the Isle of Man TT marshals, who stayed out later than normal so we could film this.

18:16 That little look at the shadow of yourself doing a 150mph wheelie
that is pure romantic
Skills and big......
Like a bossss 😎😎
"Gives you stability" (Horst Saiger, former rider)
Amazing Rider
Anyone else find it fascinating that this is even possible?
Absolutely
Not even full speed
Yep, it's breathtaking
Even with the sun in his eyes ffs
Retired racer: "YES"
We all know who Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso and the rest of the F1 gang are, but in my opinion, the Isle of Man TT riders are the ultimate motorsports heroes! There is simply nothing that can compare to the TT!!!! The incredible danger, the astonishing bravery, the concentration, and the fact that these riders have to negotiate 37,73 miles to complete ONE lap!
Hicky, you and your fellow competitors are in my eyes are the true icons of the world of motorsports.
Absolutely well put your not wrong there, it only takes one move and your toast, at least with 4 wheels you stand a chance of survival but only 2 wheels !!!
Rally also insane.
Most dangerous sport ever
Never heard of them!😁
and considering what hamilton and verstappen have been paid in the last 15 minutes!!!!
20:00 is just absolutely insane
Pure madness
Was that a wheelie at 6 gear redline?
just a tad bit slower than how fast id like to travel home from work.
This is hands down the most insane on board footage I’ve ever seen
@Elon Musk ELON!!!!!!!!!
I think insane is not the best word.WE MUST SAY, THIS IS OUT OF THIS WORLD. COME ON THIS IS ALMOST WAYYYYY TO CRAZY. I always think to myself:HOW CAN HE EVEN REACT TO CORNERS🤔 I MEAN I CAN NOT EVEN REACT WILE WATCHING.
@@charlybabbet9362 and to think this was just a demo lap. 3 minutes slower than race lap 😳
Race day 6x lap's...😱
@@petesilvers5053 yeah i feel you. That is SUICIDE. Oh man i can,t believe its even possible fir 1 lap. Haha
No front tyres were harmed in the making of this video. Wore my helmet watching this. Fair play Hicky👍
9:50 - 10:10 just pure skill, love it.
Kirkmichael... Absolute madness
If nobody has already said it I think we also need to pay tribute to the people who build and maintain these roads to the standards that make this level of performance even possible over such a distance. Probably comes over as a bit trite but it was something I was thinking all through the run.
Youre 100% right!
Respect.
Agree and tribute to the warm town people there. 👍
The flat out part of minute 11:45 is one of the most impressive things i've ever seen in my life.
Coming through Quarry Bends towards Sulby Straight! ✊

✊🤘
PINNED😬

Awesome! I've volunteered there so a paramedic since 2012 and never failed to be astounded by what you boys can do on them bikes.
Thank you for your dedication ! Without your commitment being there, we couldn't race. Respect to you! 👊
Where can you volunteer? And what certifications do you need? Thank you!
@@Hicky60 ❤️
@@kristapsjj8520 he literally just said it. PARAMEDIC. Learn to read please
@@kristapsjj8520 St. John’s usually send volunteers but you obviously need to be a qualified pramedic/ ambulance tech to apply, plenty of other ways to work on the TT marshalling etc
All us bikers like to think we can ride, but watching that makes me have no doubt, I can’t ! Absolutely amazing. So much bravery and skill
I've always advocated chincam as the most 'representative' setup for rider experience and point of view, glad to see it finally getting some traction. Very well done, this was terrifying and gorgeous to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Probably the best on board ever created!!
Deffo the best onboard there is, a blessing to watch from this angle!
You know, you can get good speakers as well...
Most definitely is
100%. Unless he does it in the race too
Sulby Straight 200 mph 11:43
The fact this isn't even full race speed is mind-boggling can feel the adrenaline just sat here, what a blessing to watch!
I’m as impressed with the astounding memory required of the track layout, undulations, cambers and quirks etc, that it takes to survive these runs, as I am with the actual thrilling speeds. Intimate familiarity with the course seems to me to be the #1 factor.
Knowing the track is only part of it. Having the balls to ride it at that speed is most of it.
@@lyianxsir knowing the track is everything...if you dont know every inch of this course u cant even attempt flatout...ur gonna crash....bob price was a veteran racing manx for years and he still died at ballaugh bridge cause he missed his braking marker and went over the dip and straight into the wall...so dont matter how skilled you are the determining factors in this race is knowing every single dip and curve of this course remembering your braking points and on top of it all u gotta be a daredevil...u ever seen rossi or marquez or any rider at isle of man racing...nope cause u gotta have a death wish to race manx my friend..this guy hickman and guy martin are goats in the motorsport world fr
Insane to see this man hold 6th gear wheelies. Amazing riding
some of it isnt holding the wheelie more the incline of the road verse speed means the front wheel has been falling but not fast enough to touch ground until the road flattens out
@@Gomorragh stop. Just stop.
@@theyrealltaken3 🤐
I take my hat off to you Hicky, that was simply awesome!
If any F1 fans try saying that F1 drivers are brave, show them this.
I mean f1 drivers are brave, just not this brave. this is just unreal. These guys have the biggest balls in racing for sure
@@machinistjeff I second that motion! I mean, I ride on the track and even there I do not hav the balls to push a bike this hard.... let alone driving on a street 'track'.
Cudos to there riders!
Makes F1 look like golf
F1 is quite safe. Playing Rugby is more dangerous. Most F1 drivers are babies nowadays
this is very slow compared to f1 tho
I’ve been around the course many, many times but these guys are literally on another level. I’d recommend anyone goes to the TT at least once in their life, to experience a truly mind-blowing spectacle on a wonderfully beautiful island.
On the travel list!
Totally agree if you have any love engine's, speed, racing... you have to do this at least once
I'm back for my weekly watch of this, never fails to absolutely amaze me!
I honestly had no idea that I could clench this hard and for this long. What pure talent and bravery, immensely impressive.
i have like a minor headache from this..
Honestly Peter this lap looks biblical. How you remember where you’re going and to be inch perfect is incredible. If ever an OBE or MBE should be awarded, it should be to you. Amazing talent. 👏
How fast was he going on those long straights in 6th????????!!!!!!!
@@davidhinson5467 at least 37mph 😂
@@davidhinson5467 180+
196mph on day 2
MBE = Motor Bike Engineer. OBE = Other Bugger’s Efforts.
Dude your guardian angel must be really tired after that...
Btw I love this footage!
bikers guardian angels are hanging on for dear life and giggling along with the rider, same with thier demons, all balancing on the same occams razor. As an ex motorcycle courier who had to while at lot slower speeds filter through traffic and estimate distances between gaps at sometimes higher than normal speeds to get a package there, ontime or ahead of time, you feel them giggling even there, both sides of the coin.
I own a S1000rr and to think it could do this blows my mind .. as I have about 1% of hickys talent … you are the man
From this I learned one thing, "even if you achieve light speed, the shadow won't leave you"👽
Huge respect to all the TT riders!!! 🔥
What I love about this video is it shows how bumpy the track really is, the "official" onboards don't seem to give you that feel. Great stuff!
I thought you might have a screw loose to do these races.. Now I'M SURE OF IT!!!!
Fair Play Lad.. Thats bloody scary to watch, let alone ride...
🤪
I see the opposite, I see road racers as the most calming, composed mindsets you'll find anywhere, they dont have a screw loose they're just more comfortable in their abilities than the average human can apprehend
@@johnnysheridan very well said!
@@johnnysheridanAbsolutely
Definitely have to be a bit nuts I'm sure they're times he goes through bends full send and just leaves it to the bike it's at those point where you just don't know and the average folk just avoid
That 3rd gear wheelie at the end put the biggest smile on my face! My wife was like what you looking at??
I’m no bike racing fan but this is mind blowing. As far as I’m concerned anyone who’s raced at the TT has my ultimate respect. You have nerves of steel, “tres grandes cojones” & give death the middle finger salute.
The people what have disliked this video, need to get a covid19 test Asap. :/
(One of main symptoms is having no taste!!) :P
😂😂😂
@Biased Broadcasting Corporation I'm a car man myself but there is absolutely no denying that road racers are top of the food chain, they are the apex predators and nothing on 4 wheels even comes close🙌🙌
Real car drivers love this stuff. Anybody who' s into driving can watch this all day...........Brilliant !
They're probably members of Max Verstappen's family who are fed up of being shown Isle of Man TT clips every time they justify having no F1 salary pay caps on the basis of how F1 drivers "risk their lives".
Sublime. Got my heart rate going watching it, hell knows what’s it’s like in the saddle!! Awesome 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Being someone who thought he could ride a motorcycle quite well,i have come to the realisation that i have no idea. These riders are so next level they are the best of the best. Balls of steel.😊
Having seen your astounding 2018 lap, all I can say is that you, are something else! Have been a huge fan of the Isle Of Man TT races since many years, and you riders deserve special mention for your heart on the sleeve approach to what is a pure gem of a road race. Glad you guys do those engineering marvels we call bikes justice at the rev limiter :). Truly heartening to see your name added to a handful of some very special riders in the history roster for the Isle of Man TT. More power to you, Hicky, and ride on! Cheers
Best onboard I’ve seen ( even for a steady lap haha ) really shows how you and the bike are moving around just don’t get that with fixed bike cameras . Top man Peter , thanks .
Thanks! 👍

Holy... the fact that he's casually bringing the front end off the ground in 6th at these speeds is amazing.. constant reminders that I am but a grasshopper lol
Best on-board footage I've ever seen by a mile. I'm 52 & have been a TT fan for over 35 years & it still amazes me that there are guys (& girls) out there who can do this. Absolute respect. I'm genuinely in awe.
Had to watch this again, 23 hrs before the start of TT 2022, crapping my pants whilst you are having a laugh doing wheelies and not even going your fastest!!!! You are a legend, I tip my hat to you, deepest respect and the very best to you in breaking your own record this year!!!! Pure joy and insanity!!!
Loved every second - the Isle of Man has a king, King Hickman the first !
Today is the day. Can hardly wait. I'm really looking forward to seeing these pictures, because unfortunately I've never been to the TT. Greetings from Germany
Hope you enjoy it!
@@Hicky60 Thank you very much. I will definitely enjoy seeing this track from your position.
Absolutely nuts!!! My blood pressure went through the roof watching this!
On the edge doesn't get close to this, it's like you're riding a angry out of control devil.
Stay safe to all that tackles this course!
You think you can ride a motorcycle and then you watch this - incredible footage - simply stunning
That's an intense watch, how you do that for 6 laps is beyond me! Love the shadow wheelie at the Bungalow
That was astounding! Thanks hicky!
No front tyres were harmed by the looks of it! Good to see! ✊👌🤣
Craziest on board footage!!! This is superhuman! It's like you've done that every day for the past 20 years. Amazing!!!
Is this just muscle memory?! Blinded by the sun just hitting these unbelievable corners, wheelies and lines.
You are a god.
I've watched the bike cam clips of this lap so many times and thought 'wow!', but this, with the chin cam is just incredible, Peter. Mind boggling to be honest. Respect!
When racers go for an evening cruise...
Loving it.
I love watching you work your magic around the TT. Thanks for sharing
My first TT this year. Watching them from Sulby Straight flying past, just feet away was one probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I'll be back for more next year.
Best on board I have ever see, loved seeing the gear selection and use of the throttle, body movement the lot. Really felt that ❤️
Much respect to you Peter, you guys are 100% heroes to us all. Sad to see the race cancelled this year, but looking forward to 2022. Me and the Mrs will be there, and it will be our first time ever, we very excited.
Mega!! Found myself laughing and smiling through the whole video! What a legend you are Hicky ✊️
Ridiculous fun. Thanks for posting!!! Watched y’all from Sulby Straight this year. Congrats on your win dude 👏👏👏👏🤙😎
What a legend. I love how at 3:48 you just looked left just so those people could get an epic quick picture of you facing them. Then that open throttle "let's fu****g go" down the straight. Made me feel like i was back on the bike.
What an absolute legend. Hope life is treating you well mate, all the best and take care.
That was incredible footage, I'll never get tired of watching it! Thanks for uploading :)
Iv seen this video last 2 years, Like 15 times and I never get Tired...
Everytime people talk to me about crazy rides i allways say they got to check this video....

This is just 1 lap. 🤯 So much mental endurance! 😵💫 mad props!
The shadow of the bike pulling wheelies over the mountain wow , blows my mind every time I see these onboard vids, this ones a lot better because of the head positioning view, all TT riders have unbelievable skill , I love it and can’t wait to see the next TT , if hicky reads this I think you are brilliant 👍🏻
Thanks!! I read it 😜👍🏻
That was seriously epic. Having watched the race from the sidelines (and even gone around the track in a Lada driven by a rider) and been astounded, I have even more respect for the skill and gumption you have seeing it from your perspective. You sir are incredible.
WOW!!! Seeing this is so awesome and mind blowing. But what’s really crazy is that he does this for 37.6 miles and does it 6 times around that’s absolutely incredible, crazy and insane. The shape you have to be in and the Concentration you have to have is so amazing. The skill and the ability to ride like this is truly unbelievable. Theses guys are so incredible in so many ways.
I find these types of people amazing. Extraordinary. The capability of a small percentage of human beings is out of this world. Thank you Peter for giving us a little taste of what it feels like to be superhuman.
That HP4 Symphony 😍 thank you Peter for sharing this footage with myself and others! Wish you all the best for the future.
Same to you!
Just a mega onboard, king of the road, much respect for what you have achieved Peter. Can't remember breathing just watching this let alone what its like for you behind the screen. Awsome 💪
This came up in my feed. Must be my binging on content again lol.
It blows my mind honestly. It's poetic 👌 And to think This is 3 minutes off of race pace 😳 STAGGERING!!!
Congrats on your wins in 22 good luck for the last 2, you're looking sensational out there 💥
That BMW sure sounds beautiful & Hicky definitely makes her sing. This is a real treat, thank you
During lockdown, and currently watching this, made me feel i was out with my bike running, free(ofc slower than you!) . Awesome video, can't stop watching! Be safe!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
There's no better sound than a flat out 12,000+ rpm redline in 6th gear. So exhilarating, and I can't wait to get a new bike this summer.

You have my deepest respect! Thanks very much for sharing this footage!
Just recently started following the TT and all it’s greatness. You sir are amazing 🤩
Seriously impressive. i admire your skill and commitment, stay safe.
Honestly kudos to these men, it takes some serious balls to go this fast on a track like Isle of man TT.
They're bred from a different mold this lot. Absolutely bonkers.
The fact you felt the need to explain in the description why your lap was slow is hilarious to us mortals. Thanks for sharing!
I've been and seen the TT but this on board is frightening. The skill involved is outstanding seeing this.
Just amazed at the amount of time spent on the rear wheel. Top lad and can't wait for next year 👍
No room for forgetting anything. Every turn, every crack, jumps, and the compressions.. gotta love it
Absolutely mental. An artist and teacher, at the same time. Yet a reminder to enjoy life ...
Have to bow down to all the skill you have and how much courage you actually have.
And on top of being an unbelievable racer Peter Hickman is a funny guy who is friendly and polite. What an example- I carry his signature in the truck marshals jacket with joy of having had the pleasure to meet this champion in person
Quite late to the party but.. Quite frankly, this makes being an astronaut look like a joke. You sir, are super natural. Incredible to see raw onboard footage. Hats off to you for having balls this big!
I thought I’d seen it all, well most of it, now I have, how times have changed since my time in the Shell Oils days in 89’, this is the only onboard you need to see, everything else is up there, but this is now, amazing….
Thanks mate, really appreciate you doing this for us lot from the bottom of my heart! On a side note, I really believe you what you do here is how life should be lived. It's a very true way of living, so much that we can even live vicariously through you.
When i think i am doing a decent job on a bike on track, i come back to the pros and cry. This is absolutely nuts. Hats off to you, Peter. That must feel amazing.

Surely it must be close to the limit as to how fast you can get round the TT course and UGP on two wheels with an internal combustion engine.
Can technology get that much better than it is today ?
Although tbf they said the same thing as me, when Joey did a 120 mph lap on the V4 Honda. lol
